There's so many great shows out there today to watch, old ones, on-going ones and and coming.
What are you watching at the moment or have recently watched?
At the moment I'm just finishing off the latest season of Mad Men, there shock from the first and second season is over but still I enjoyed the fourth season even though the finale was a bit weak.
Other then that I'm a big sucker for It's always sunny in Philadelphia, season 6 running at the moment.

I just can't hold myself from mentioning this thing a guy wrote about BWE.

There is actually only one show that I follow on telly. A British police drama series called Heartbeat. I have seen the every single episode that has aired in Finland. The last series (number 18) started last week :(

Other show that I followed was The Royal. It's a British medical drama and actually a spin-off series of Heartbeat. The last episode of the final series (8.) was aired yesterday in Finland. For some reason the series 8 only just started on ITV in UK :D

Oh aye, I too watch Star Wars The Clone Wars. And I planned to go buy myself a dvd box containing all 6 seasons of Oz. That was an excellent series.
@ Rawhide, I at first wasnt completely sold with Boardwalk, one or two episodes were quite slow but I thought that I'd give it a chance just like I gave The Pacific a chance. I wasnt impressed with The Pacific either until I saw 3rd episode and I find it funny that after seeing third episode of Boardwalk, I was hooked in totally. Now it's like one of the highlights of my week when I get to watch the newest episode every monday.
It started slow, but how things started going its absolutely great. I believe Tedacious too got into it the same way. He was sceptical first too but now he likes it.

However, since I am currently sans a TV aerial and TV licence, I am stuck with iPlayer (and whatever ITV and C4 have if I could be bothered to check). This would be annoying if I actually watched a lot of TV, but I don't so I'm pretty fine.

I watched the simpsons every day since ... well since i can remember xD
but recently ive stopped that - while the old episodes were awesome and had a special sence of humor and an actual plot the new simpsons are a disgrace (my opinion). - the jokes are cheap, there is no correct plot, even the "drawing" sucks (computer animated).
I liked the old subtile humor of the simpsons.
Add that with the new german synchronisation FAIL of marge simpson (old voice actress passed away) and you have 1 fan less.
really it turned into mainstream trash. - they just make "jokes" for the sake of making jokes - even though they arent funny, i dont know how its on english but also bart has become horrible in the way he is speaking (slang language with lots of anglizisms in german - this could also be the german translation fail)
other than that i like south park - the story lines are hilarious, and you always have a critc about things in it (scientology, bp etc)
i pretty much stopped watching television except for south park... :P

I don't really follow any tv show. I have seen every South Park episode evarrr so I think that counts.
If there is something on TV I like, I watch it.
Two and a Half Man is always good.
Still Standing is amazing.
House is cool.
Top Gear every friday if I remember it.
The Simpsons is sometimes on after midnight.
And lately I manage to be on time for Dexter so add that.

Southpark, which is continuing to grow in quality,unlike the Simpsons. But the Simpsons are still worthwile to watch with an occasional brilliant episode.
Furthermore; Rome, Deadwood, Generation Kill (6 episode's miniseries, but so good), World War 2 in HD (American orientated as hell, but good images and presentation) and Two and a half men for the simple laughs during dinner or something.
Now the special series:
- Mad Men: it's great, not for the action lover, but the acting and storyline (+ Roger Sterling) make it extremely interesting. Still have to see the last episodes of season 4.
- Board Walk Empire: haven't started that yet, but heard quite some promising stories, can't wait for some free time to pop up and start a proper addiction on this series.
- The Walking dead: having just read up on it on imdb, it sounds promising. But I prefer watching 6-7 episodes in one night (Who else does that? :) ) so I put this one on hold.
And of course, 'ze masterpiece' like Rawhide said: The Sopranos . Ah man, there's so many layers, nuances, details and acting in there that I enjoyed the 5-6 times I watched the entire series. I've could have gotten 2 more masters done with all the time that I spent watching Tony eat and Silvio cheat. I always envy friends who haven't seen it yet, they are in for such a thrilling time! Like rawhide also said, don't get me started on it.

After years of ignoring quality TV shows (I pretentiously considered myself a Film Fan) I got hooked after finally giving Sopranos a shot 3 years ago. Since then I've watched a couple of completed series (BSG, Angel, The Shield, My Name Is Earl, The Wire among others), because I don't like to start shows that aren't already finished.
But, as with all addictions, you start to let go of your principles after a while and no I'm hooked on a couple of shows that aren't done yet...
So currently watching the following shows:
24 - Day 8
Last season before the final movie. Say what you will about this show and Jack Bauer, but it kicks ass. Critics say it's the same every season but it's not. The character arch of Bauer spanning 8 seasons is something quite original.
Weeds
Started to watch this only earlier this year, but I ran through all available seasons in one go (as in, when I watch something it's this. Not like I watched like 100 episodes in a row ;) ) and am now awaiting the current season to finish. It's a addictive blend of serious drama with witty comedy which simply never gets dull.
Entourage
Also not actually watching it right now because I'm between seasons. It's a boyhood dream come true so highly relatable and funny as hell. Jeremey Piven's character is truly one of the greatest TV creations ever.
Flight Of The Conchords
Just finished it last night. 2 Seasons of highly funny but deadpan fish-out-of-water comedy about 2 New Zealand musicians who tried to make it in New York. Great songs too!
The Big Bang Theory
Nerd-alert! One of the few old style sit-coms I like to watch (you know, laughtrack, studio sets, etc.) but it is kind of brilliant. As an Asperger (syndrome having person) seeing a completely relatable character like Sheldon on a major US tv show was a welcome treat but apart from that it's just really funny and recognizable.
30 Rock
Show about the dealings of a SNL type friday night comedy show. Love it, altough I can imagine it's one of the more love-it-or-hate-it type shows. But what sets it apart is the different types of humor, there's slapsticky stuff and razorsharp verbal stuff, done in the way that made Frasier such a classic show. It never gets boring.
Modern Family
Or: The Return Of Ed O'Neill. Show about recently divorced-but-remarried pater familias Ed O'Neill (Married With Children), his new family and his two children and their respective families, one gay couple and one regular apple pie family. Basically it's a sit-com filmed as a single camera show, so no grand storylines like Weeds or Entourage. It's currently in it's second season and it's simply really funny and well made, even though it's not really about anything.
The Office US
Nothing left to add about this show, simply brilliant. Still can't believe they managed to take the British original and turn it into a whole different beast, while still keeping that Office appeal. I watched all the episodes leading up to the current season last spring so I needed to take little break from it, otherwise my perception of real life would've been seriously warped.
And by "watching" I mean "shows for which I make the effort of downloading them and watching them preferably in one go". Some shows I even go out for and buy them on DVD (Rome, Sarah Connor Chronicles, BS:G, Firefly, BoB) while others I just catch whenever they're on TV (Frasier, Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park - they're always there, so no need for the extra hassle).
Oh, I forgot Hung and Eastbound & Down. They're both new shows currently in their second season, but both are also a cool mix of serious real-life drama and cool comedy. Hung is more a drama with comedy elements, and EB&D basically the other way around. But both have a big heart.
And a special dedication to 3 shows that really struck a nerve with me, 2 made by Josh Whedon:
Angel
I resisted this show for years cuz I just thought it wasn't for me. But it turned out differently. It now has a special place in my heart. It rose beyond it's Buffy spin-off roots and became a force of its own. It made me almost cry on 2 occasions and that's really rare, especially for a TV show.
The Adventures Of County Brisco Jr.
Older Fox show from around the beginning of the X-Files ('93 I think). The show should've made Bruce Campbell a proper star, but it got cancelled after one season. It's a bit rough around the edges but it wasn't made like one of these recent big budgetted quality TV shows. The early pre-X Files 90's was a whole different era for TV shows but they made the best of it and ended up with a really cool and funny western show about a bounty hunter who gets entangled in a weird supernatural plot to destroy the world.
Dollhouse
The other one by Josh Whedon. He truly has it rough in TV land. Of all his brilliant shows only Buffy has had a decent run and didn't get prematurely cancelled, and I can safely say that that was his most mainstream one. After Angel and Firefly his latest show Dollhouse again got cancelled. This time after 2 seasons. But the world and characters mr Whedon managed to create in 2 season are simply amazing. It may take a couple of episodes to get the feel of the show, but after that it gets better and better.

How I Met Your Mother
The Star network run this sitcoms. Besides the stereotype of each character they proudly living in (especially Barney), i think the most memorable thing from this show is the typical US stance on Canadian.
Glee
I sometimes follow this episode just because everyone in the room watch the show. Quite interesting, but i just don't buy the "cool" factor of being in a good glee club.
The Big Bang Theory
Same with above. It is a group that repeatedly show 4 nerdy guys and one hot chick. There is this character called Sheldon with his overly-complex and compulsive mind, which is quite irritating and getting overly done sometimes. But still funny though, as it really touches the life of gamer geeks which many of us can relate to.
Mythbusters
Despite the objections, the controversies on the way they experiment stuff, i still find it rather amusing.
Air Crash Investigation (Mayday!)
No reason needed for aviation chums. It influenced me to think systematically like those cool guys did.
Seconds from Disaster
Same thing, the way they explain it is pretty satisfying. Too bad such accidents happened, but i hope many will eventually learn from it.
Naked Science
I just live curious. The topic they discussed is quite generic, but always give something new to starters.
Don't Tell My Mother
Diego Buñuel went on adventure to some dangerous place (for US Americans) and see what is it like. I rather watch this than to listen to bullshit politician or news media.
The Simpsons
I just like it from the beginning, but now i cannot watch due to the airing time.
Occasionally i watch Chuck, Deadliest Catch, Wipeout!USA and Australia, and some local programs.

I dont watch many series atm. The Pacific on dvd, episode 5 right now. I also watch The Simpsons once in a while, and Top Gear even more rarely. And some norwegian comedy series called Dag and Storbynatt.

Anyhow, Mad Men. Just finished the 4th season.
I just love, period. Going from the 50's and into the 60's and things constantly changing. Women, work, nation, life. Everything. Changing.
And I love how they show life in an office.

Im one of the few who dont get the hype about Two And A Half Man Too .. Somehow i got the feeling that the kind of humor used in that show mostly appeals to older women and teen kids who dont really get other shows. But well, could be just me :/

It's a matter of taste. You watch Family Guy, I can't stand that show. Every episode is the same.
But you like it, you don't like Two and a Half Man, but I do. It's really easy to label it as a show for certain people.

I only like it cause of the booze and women. I aint gonna watch some half ass soap about ending long lasting love dramatics or having to worry bout one night stands or 9 till 5 jobs.

The worst thing is the laughter in the background after every second sentence, even if they just say : "yes" ,the audience (or laughter box) think its extremely funny. The only sitcom ive liked is Seinfeld, but now its used up, long ago. Two sitcoms i really hate is Darma & Greg , and According to Jim. I dont think its possible to have less funny and predictable jokes. I also hate sitcoms with small kids entering the scene and the audience say "aaaawwwwww" like this terrible show with Bob Saget (think its called Full House)

At least two and a half men has some dirty 'grown up' jokes, and the irony of Charlie Sheen. It also helps that it plays in Malibu and features lots of hot women, we saw with Baywatch that something without actual storydriven substance can be hugely popular. Furthermore, I think people are on the same level with me with two and half men, enjoying it while its on and for what it is: simple entertainment; sometimes you just aren't in the mood for the more quality, and often more dramatic, stuff.

Imagine when a new guy suddenly watching How I Met Your Mother. Barney is being repeatedly called Swarney, and for consecutive episodes, many still lol for it. I'm so not into overused running gags.

I know the guy have some comedic taste after watching him doing silly yet hilarious things in Hot Shots series.
But in larger scene, he is pretty much downed after his role in 1997 Money Talks. His role in Scary Movie 3 and 4 doesn't help much. But his decision to star on relatively success Two And A Half Men is quite respectable comeback IMO. I used to view him as one of those Hollywood upper class. Two and A Half Men for me is kinda a deep bottom start when viewing on his glorious past. So yeah, my reason for comparing to Chuck Norris starting his sitcoms.

But The Pacific is well worth checking out. Not as action driven as Band Of Brothers though, but good nonetheless.

Ive seen 5 episodes of The Pacific. I would say 4 of them are just as good and "action driven" as Bob, but one of them was pure drama. I think The Pacific seems awesome.

I just loved it just as much as the first season
Kenny Powers walk back to Major League Baseball continues as he struggles through Mexico to cover his earlier failures.
Lots of cursing, sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, beautiful women and everything else that you need for a good show
2 seasons, 1st season 6 episodes, 2nd season holds 7. Every episode is 30 minutes long.
PS. Check clips on YouTube, it's epic straight through. And the soundtrack is perfect.

I will not post spo¡lers but I will say that they went to the opposite of what happened in the comics; they started so good but went downhill in the last 2 episodes. Seriously what the hell they were thinking? They are supposed to follow the comics.

After watching the TV series I bought the The Walking Dead: Compendium 1 (http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Dead-Compendium-One/dp/1607060760/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291578553&sr=8-1), covering 8 volumes of the series. It´s a real super deal and I can read it on my loong and boring train journeys. I´m really curious about how much the TV series differ from the comics.

I thought the writing for walking dead was utterly shit. I thought the last episode was fucktarded. I hope they get their act together, it was a great premise, but the actual execution of the show was poor.

Last few months I've been enjoying watching the Pawn Stars series on my mates Satelite tv.
I think it's based in Los Vegas.
Features the everyday goings on of people needing a quick $$ and interseting stuff for sale at the shop.
With a motley crew of fatbodies that wear freaky shades 8) with a sort of L&H/Two Stooges theme slowly building up with the two young fatbody buddies Chumley and Big Hoss.
I think most of it is 'put on' or loosley scripted, but I just love watching the show! ;D

Ive seen first season of " V " . I kinda was fan of the old V from the 80s, so i had to see the new one aswell. The special effects of the old V is ridiculous today, but still the old V is alot better than the new. But the new is exciting enough to keep watching at least. I really like a more advanced and profound story of aliens attacking earth, not just a 2 hour action movie with Will Smith knocking down an alien saying "welcome to earth, motherfucker". Good enough show, but too much hollywood/CSI - like (or something) with alittle too low budget.

I have actually read the comics, and Im patienly waiting for the so awaited #80 issue; I think they derailed too much from the comics; characters that werent there, characters that are in the comics, but not in the series, characters that should have died sooner and they are alive and kicking. Seriously, what the hell?

I can´t wait for Season 2, either, especially the "prison"-plot will hopefully be good. So far I hope that the first season was more on the experimental side and that they will stick closer to the comics in the future.
But all that still doesn´t change anything that "TWD" doesn´t contain as much Zombie action, as some people expected.

With the exception of the gratuitous male nudity, I quite liked Spartacus, felt a lot like 300 with more estrogen in every part other than the fight scenes.

This week I started watching Community, an American comedy show about a community college. Although it's a single-camera show it's basically a sit-com (the sit = the college in this case) but since it's a community college the students are of all walks of life instead of just teenagers. Old, young, white, black, weird, normal - that kind of thing, with the common denominator being that all of the students can somehow not afford to go to a "real" college.
The core characters are a group of 7 students who form a study group for their Spanish class, and all the episodes revolve around them. The big draw for me was the return of personal comedy hero Chevy Chase. After a string of so-so movies (I haven't liked anything he was in since 1989's Fletch Lives) it is cool to have him back, and see him as a humble ensemble player for once. The show itself and its humour can be described as a cross between Scrubs and (dare I invoke the holiest of holy?) Arrested Development I guess, but it feels more grounded. It's cooky, clever and sweet. It's currently in its 2nd season.
And before that I finished the first season of the new V. This was one of those shows I decided to watch in between seasons of my favorite shows. And since I felt it was yet another rebooth/revisioning I kinda expected I wasn't really gonna like it. But seeing that the lovely Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Serenity) was playing the High Commander I decided to give it a shot.
Since I'm a first world 80's kid I of course watched the original V but since I was like 10 when it was on here in Holland I only remember the outlines of that show (aliens taking over earth) so I can't really compare the two. What I can say is that after the first couple of episodes I was hooked. It just worked for me. It's not as instant-classic as the new Galactica or as fresh as Firefly or anything but somehow the story and the characters just worked for me. The show is smart enough not to rely on special effects too much, and most of the time it feels more like a cop show than a sci-fi show. And I think that was a smart move by the writers/makers (it's still a small budgeted niche-marketed throwback TV show after all). It's down to the actors now to make the premise believable and in my opinion they pull it off. They al do a fine job but Baccarin as V leader Anna really shines. She is what makes this show work. It's a joy to watch her scheme, plot and connive her way through the show, and expose a lot of real-world human flaws along the way.

Never said it had to be a zombie splatter movie, that would not be sustainable for multiple seasons. But if they want to have love and heartache and all that, it better be written a whole heck of a lot more convincingly, right now the writing is on par with twilight

first 2 episodes are out, it has summer glau (firefly/serenity/terminator TSCC) as sidekick to the self made hero ex-cop who was framed for murder and now tries to earn back his name bla bla... you get the idea. now he was trained by a circus crime gang and tries to fight back ... the usual vigilantly / super hero story. so far nothing ground breaking has been happening but it is quite nice and i guess i ll keep watching it.
oh and btw "Californication" season 4 started and it again "has nice tits" :D.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was really impressed by the dark ending of season 3 and am looking forward to see where it goes from there. Although this is one show I'd like to watch in one go (okay, spread across a couple of sessions, not all in one night) so I'll be waiting twelve weeks or so till Moody is done shagging birds for this season.

Last week I started watching HBO show Bored To Death, with Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Slackers, etc.).
He plays a sort of fictional version of the writer of the show, Jonathan Ames, so you now you're in for some hipster postmodernism here. The writer in question is struggling with his career and his girlfriend leaving him. Inspired by pulp detective novels he tries to moonlight as a private detective to get some inspiration and pay the bills but he basically sucks at it. Every episode is about a specific case but more about what that case teaches Ames about life.
This premise may not sound that enticing but it actually is a really great show. It's more of a proper TV show with added humor than a comedy persé. The actors are what's making this show work. Besides Schwartzman being excellent as the lead, there is Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date) as his best friend (a struggling artist as well) and Ted Danson (Cheers, Saving Private Ryan) as his rich publisher friend. Galifianakis is really great here and Danson does a Baldwin by avenging his washed up career with this show. Really cool to see this kind of jaded TV icon coming to life in this part.
So if you like slow burning high brow humor and are familiar with HBO's usual standards, this is worth watching. There's only 8 parts per season so it's nice and compact. Currently at 2 seasons but apparently this year will see a 3rd season.

The REAL office is with Ricky Gervais, a damn genius, and it's all through it amazing. I started watching Steve Carrells version (And actor I HATE with all my heart. Just as much as I hate Ben Stiller and Nicolas Cage) but soon stopped, it was just embarrassing.

Just the swedish Stieg Larsson books, the Millenium Trilogy. THey are a HUGE success all over the world, the movies are amazing and loved. THen of course hollywood thinks "oh! it's a success! let's spend 10 billion dollars on making a hollywood verison and profit!", Make your own fucking movies or at least try to enjoy something from abroad, read subtitles!

I get your America sentiments here, and I mostly feel the same way. I loved The Office and when I heard they were gonna do an US version I thought the same thing. But I decided to check out US version last year and I must admit it is kind of brilliant. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant oversaw the whole thing as executive producers so there's quality control there. Once you get over the fact that indeed it is not an original show there's is much fun to be had. And because it has a longer run the characters really start to come into their own after a while, and are not straight up copies from the British version anymore.
I won't try to persuade you to watch it (god knows I hate it when people do that) but this is one of those rare cases where the US copy more than holds its own against the European original and even expands on the original concept.

You know Ted, you really haven't given a reason to hate it aside from not liking Steve Carrell .... Anyway, from the bits of the UK version of the Office I have seen, it seems really good. I cannot not say which one I like more because I haven't seen a full episode of the UK version yet. Anyway, I think that for a remake of a British show that most Americans probably would not have known about or watched without the U.S. version it's pretty good...I know for a fact that I would not know about the British version or even be interested in it if it weren't for the American version. I would assume that the original is better, usually is, but that doesn't mean the remake is bad. (especially a one that had assistance from the people who made the original.)
Anyway, any shows in the science fiction genre anyone can recommend? I have a void since SGU is gone.

At the risk of sounding redundant, here the sci-fi shows I've enjoyed a lot the last couple of years:
- Firefly (only 1 season and a movie)
- V [2009] (first season is done, second now in production)
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2 seasons)
- The X Files (Mythology - so just the main storyline)
- Battlestar Galactica [2004]
- Dollhouse (okay, basically anything by Joss Whedon. Also only 2 seasons)
- Farscape
- Supernatural (okay, so it's not sci-fi, but it rocks)

I could never get into BSG for some reason. I tried watching it, but to no avail. I have watched all the Stargate series mainly. Supernatural is something I may be able to get into, I have seen quite a few commercials for it. Also Star Trek TNG.

I'm generally very picky when it's concerned series. Unlike a movie where I can tolerate some less-then-perfectness I am very demanding with anything that I have to watch for a dozen times in a row.
Besides some stone-old Startrek (the stuff with Picard mostly) and even older alo-alo (sorry :-X) I only watched a few shows recently - dismissing Band of Brothers and The Pacific, which are more cut-up movies.
First is ofc. Dexter. The first two seasons were sheer brilliance. Very good humor, interesting basic story, good acting, good tension curve, good camera work and postprocessing/edit. Season 4 was a bit over the top, season 5 was nice to watch but did look like it was more on a budget ; filming and postprocessing were not as high quality as the first few seasons.
And, final episode freshly watched, Boardwalk Empire. This is one magnificent slow-burning series. The wit is very high on some of the main characters, you could fill a book with brilliant quotes just by them. Interesting semi-historic story based on the situation in Atlantic city in the time of the big drought. Coincidentally things like women's voting, the upcoming power of the african-american's as voters and the threat of democrats in usually purely republican states all roar their ugly head around this time. What is created is a tense, interesting story that not only tempts the emotions but also the brain.
Cinematographically the series are of a very high level ; there is some interesting camera work and editing going on that reminds us both of typically american posh westerns, but often as well takes the spine and soul of films like Snatch with their epic twisted-absurdity-moments.
Very, very warmly recommended!

I agree with Ted, the US version was at first one huge disgrace. Trying to walk, talk and sound like the British version. Ricky Gervais pointed it out pretty early.
They took the character Tim and named him Jim...
That quote pretty sums up everything regarding the yank version. But at least it got better after a few seasons when it started to think a bit for itself.
Anyhow, US version will never, ever, never, as long as we live. Become better then Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchants version.
What they did there with 12 episodes and 2 special episodes is something few TV shows have done...
Something the US version never will get, even if they do a MASH and run for over 10 years.

Started watching Supernatural again last week, after leaving it 2 years ago (I had depleted the first 4 seasons back then). Don't know if I posted something about it earlier so excuse me if I'm repeating myself. ;)
But the show is about a 2 brothers who are raised by their father to be Hunters, people who fight demons. I know, it doesn't sound that special, but trust me, it is. The show can be described as a mix between X-Files and Indiana Jones with a typical monster-of-the-week premise, but after a while the main storyline kicks in and it starts to get better and better. What the writers have done with horror staples as the vampire, the zombie, Halloween and such is amazing, completely making it their own. And the scope of the story just gets bigger in the later seasons.
The show is not afraid to go all self conscious post-modern too, but it always makes sense in the storyworld. It's never just for the fuck of it. The lead actors have real chemistry and the writing is funny while still taking its drama serious. It's a true trivia-fest for the fantasy/sci-fi nerd, with even the individual episodes named after classic rock songs.
Highly recommended!

In the past, the usual suspects, TNG/Babylon 5/BSG/Firefly/Outer Limits, I never got into Farscape/StarGate. It felt too 'nice'. I like my sci-fi gritty if possible. Sent NUTS! to CBS for Jericho :) and I gave up on Eureka (very warm series, but too much pauses midseason etc...) and V (love Anna though). I liked New Amsterdam (cancelled), John Doe, 24 and Lost. I am keeping an eye out for Blue Bloods. I like the Wahlbergs and hey, IT'S FREAKIN' TOM SELLECK :D
And Supernatural seems to be heating up, but it's in its sixth? season already.

yeah, it's currently in it's sixth season. The show's creator had stated he would only do 5 but, since the quality is still really good halfway through season 5, I don't think it's a case of "milking the cow" but a genuine effort to expand the show. But for the sake of never outstaying your welcome I do kinda hope they will end it with season 7 then. Or go the 24/Entourage route and end with a movie, and just use the quality of Firefly's Serenity as abenchmark. :)
I will try out Rescue Me. Big fan of Leary's (even after I discovered Bill Hicks) so looking forward to that.

I doubt you'll regret it. It has everything, with stunning powerful acting. From laughing out loud to ice-cold, hardhitting drama. They should have been showered with awards. Top notch soundtracks too. I picked up a lot of nice bands through RM.
I'll check out Supernatural, couple of my friends started mentioning it as well.

I'm hooked on HBO: In Treatment right now. I like how the characters develope, revealing surprising twists in peoples personalities you'd never expect. I like to watch before I go to bed, it somehow calms my mind down.

Most likely not going to break records in ratings. But I like it as with each episode the viewer gets to know the main characters better and finds out they are not just "cons". Finished the latest (5th) episode and my most favorite character would prolly have to be Lloyd- a nutjob everyone has to love :D

i find some of the situations not belivable but funny nonetheless, the series improves with the seasons, you should give it a shot, most people i know like it, and not all of them are nerds xD

Couldn't agree more actually, it is usually very predictable. has its moments though. oh and for me it kinda acts as a filler for the void of how i met your mother, family guy and south park.

TBBT is kinda brilliant imo. Yeah, it's still a sit-com so the format might grate with some (laugh track, story-arc, etc.), but there's some brilliant writing in there, and fully relatable in its socially-awkwardness. :)
I've also found new love for Family Guy and especially American Dad, after I was kinda done with both last year. Don't know why exactly, probably just an overdose. I currently have the same thing with South Park and Simpsons, just don't have the urge to watch it right now.

I work in a firm with similar structure to that in Mad Men series. Yes, i'm quite a fan for the series, particularly Christina Hendricks, Joan, that red-haired secretary with bewbs!
I gotta say that is pretty much Hollywood-esque way to portray how a consulting/agency firm works. Yeah, Don Draper is a fine type of Director, but as a Partner, he is a bit reckless sometimes, Idk if this is common in the 1960s.
What I like about Mad Men is the elegance shown out by the bosses. Today's real-world bosses try so hard to convince his employees that he is a down-to-earth, listening-type bosses, while in fact they looked cheap while trying hard not to distance themselves from us. They should have set themselves as an example, not dumbing down in order to play in "equal level" with us.
However the play is plagued by typical modernist attempt to make-believe that the character is deliberately shown with utter sometimes blatant or carelessness like Sterling puking out after climbing oh-so-many stairs or Draper making deliberate decisions in front of fellow partners. It is a punchline that equates to "hey, people do this sometimes, you know, truth is stranger than fiction okay?" Yeah, but in real world, they really avoid doing that by absenting.

I also used to watch "Unser Charlie" and "Kommissar Rex". Unser charlie was fun at first but a then everything changed (i think it was the second year of it or something) and it turned me off :b .As for Kommissar Rex same thing happened.The first police officer with Rex was awesome (Mozer was his name played by Tobias Morreti ).Then that lame guy showed up and also the Greek dubbing changed voices and it became annoying as hell.

I'm sorry Tolga but you are so wrong. A good South Park episode really nails the fun in popular cultural events and things and bends it around with precise comedy. If you fail to see that, it's just bad for you.

Haven't read the books (yet), I just sat there. Shocked. A tear running down my cheek. Then I yelled: DEATH to the king! WAR! Good thing Holland still has a queen hehe, because people can often hear when I'm watching Game of Thrones. I yell 'oooowwwww' everytime blood is spilled in glorious jousting or battling :D
As a fan of Peter Dinklage since Death at a Funeral, he must get the Emmy, period. Stunning series, so unconventional yet traditional acting, I love it. It's like Philip K. Dick wrote a fantasy book. Hell, the whole cast is superb.
Sean is already up and about. Yesterday, Sean was hanging out at a bar with his daught... friend (23). Standing outside for a smoke, some bloke made some remarks about her. Sean got pissed, a small fight ensued, he got punched in the face, broken glass stabbed in his arm, guy bails/gets dragged away. Sean goes inside, gets his wound tended to, orders another drink ;D

Game of Thrones is very good indeed. Only have the last episode left. Even if we dont see anything to the big battles while they rather have long conversations about sex isnt too cool, but still its a very cool series.
I was very disappointed to the last thing happening in episode 9. I cant really be too entusiastic now, XXXXX was the coolest person in the series. Allright XXXXX is dead , but the show goes on ...

Last month I've finally watched Dexter. Much has probably already been said about this, but I just like to add that it's awesome. Amazing how they can keep a small scale show with an almost gimmicky premise this fresh and tight, and for 5 seasons already. Can't wait for season 6.
Freaks & Geeks [1999]
A short-lived comedy drama from Judd Apatow, the man behind 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Funny People. Decided to check this out because it features now-famous actors/comedians Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segal in their first roles. And it got cancelled after only one season, and like Firefly after that, became somewhat of a cult phenomenon.
It is set in 1980, so basically can be seen as "That 80's Show": it's about high school teens and their struggles to stay/become popular, find out about life, have that first crush, getting kicked out of school, that sort of thing. All pretty standard, but the charm is in the execution.
As the title suggest, it focuses on two groups: the Freaks (the stoner alt-kids) and Geeks (the nerds). Caught in the middle is Linzy, both a freak and geek and the show centers around her and her little brother as the main characters of each specific group.
It's hard tp recommend this show to anyone because the premise just sounds so cliché. But the attraction is in the detail, with blink-and-you'll-miss-it type jokes, believable characters and serious drama wrapped up in sweet humor. The time period is great too: the gloomy but authentic 70's just barely making way for the synthetic 80's, so it doesn't have that specific retro 70's or tacky 80's feel, but just something in between. It's an interesting setting, one that hasn't actually been done that much before I think.
So it won't blow your mind, but it'll comfortably settle in your memories as one of those cool, heartwarming little shows that could've been.

Just dont fall off after the 3-4 first episodes which aint that good. The rest are awesome... It contains the usual " try to save budget " philosophy as 99% of series have, but an extremely good story, a detailed world with a good "realistic" mood and mostly good actors, still makes it great. Start to watch indeed.

Dead Set
I think its really good even for those who dont really like zombie-horror. Its really scary, aswell as its very funny, and the humor doesnt kill the horror. Havent seen Walking dead yet, but ive seen most other zombie stuff, and im pretty sure this is the best ever. Its 5 short episodes, all in all 2-3 hours.
Its about someone inside The Big Brother House ( the reality show) while the zombie disease spreads. I cant really explain why its so good, i would give it 9/10. Its british and some of the accents are not easy without subtitles. Great stuff ... find it and watch it 8)

Started on season 6 of Supernatural last weekend. It's still highly enjoyable, even if we've had the finale the previous 5 seasons were leading to at the end of season 5 already. So it feels a bit like round 2, but looking forward to see where they're taking this.
Before that I watched Reaper, about a guy who has to catch escaped souls for the devil. I saw it being broadcasted on Comedy Central a couple of years back and the premise looked pretty cool. Only then I started watching Supernatural and figured Reaper to be a bit of a copycat so I never bothered with it. But I'm glad I gave it a second chance because it's actually pretty good, and I was actually a bit bummed out when it was finished. Again, it's one of those show that got cancelled after only 2 seasons, so that almost automatically wins me over, cuz nowadays it seems that only good shows get cancelled prematurely.
But apart from that the show is an appealing mix of Kevin Smith's Clerks and Ghostbusters. Smith directed the pilot and is onboard as a consultant, whatever that means. Don't know how much influence he's had but I can safely say that if you like Kevin Smith movies, you'll love Reaper. But besides that it's genuinely funny and heartwarming, with cool actors and an interesting take on the devil-myth. The guy playing the devil is a complete bad-ass by the way. :)
Note for future watchers: the first couple of episodes are kind of basic monster-of-the-week type fare, but after a while the main story kicks in and it only gets better.

Saw a few episodes of Castle since my girlfriend could not stop raving about it. Don't know what to think about it though. Nathan Fillion is an awesome actor and he makes anything look good but the whole CSI/sherlock holmes concept is getting old.

Flippy ain't online at IRC at the moment and he and I usually talk about different episodes here and there.
One of the greatest things about The Sopranos is how the creators of the series almost in every episode mix the baseline of the 'story' with everyday issues that any man can come upon, both in the life of adults, parenthood and the coming of age in the days of being a teenager in these days.
An episode that really show how great The Sopranos does this is the forth episode of season two.
Tony Soprano and some of the crew leaves for Italy for business. Meanwhile back home the wifes of the mobsters are constantly talking about their life and situation. The religious duties they obey but also think about breaking from time to time.
The feeling they get when their husband come home and shout 'Honey, I'm home' and the possibility of separation and living another life, a better life.

Well, not so much new under the sun, but Homeland made an impression. Two episodes in, and I can't decide if I liked the pilot better or the second episode. That's definitely a good sign. Plus a bonus for fans of V (the remake) ;)

After nearly finishing the book "A Game of Thrones" I started watching the TV series with the same name. And I´m quite impressed by it, it´s nearly, if not as good as the book. Great acting, great scenery and lots of boobs and bare skin! :D
Fortunately this is no "happy knight and gay elves doing magic stuff"-series, but a gritty and dirty tale and I really like that.
I can´t wait to finish the book, start reading the 2nd book, finish the TV series and start watching the 2nd season, which will hopefully air soon.

The seventh season of It's always sunny in Philadelphia really started good with four really good episodes but last nights fifth episode really hit a bump and I gotta say it's one of the worst episodes the shows history.
The whole 'Sunny' feeling that makes the show so special and funny was gone for the sake of a story that wasn't that interesting or funny or even 'Sunny'
Weak.
Anyhow, had this coming due to such a strong start but didn't think it was gonna hit this bad.

I find the new 4th season of Fringe quite... dull (3rd is awesome indeed). However, when I look at the usual sites, I'm quite firmly a minority it would seem, so there's that :D
Terra Nova is also quite... the disappointment. Started skipping through the teenie-weenie stuff in the third ep, not a good sign. The Big Bang Theory is still great, but they need to put in some more nerdy stuff again. And then there's Breaking Bad, my oh my. What a finale. Top notch, not in the least for camera direction, color use and music.
Bryan Cranston got a lot of pats on the back at the Emmy's this year, I somehow ended up watching the entire backstage Emmy transmission ;). I believe the season was too short or something?

Kathleen Robertson is reason enough to watch it. Altho I do like Grammer and his performance in this series, I cant but think of Eddie and Niles to be around somewhere... :P

After nearly finishing the book "A Game of Thrones" I started watching the TV series with the same name. And I´m quite impressed by it, it´s nearly, if not as good as the book. Great acting, great scenery and lots of boobs and bare skin! :D
Fortunately this is no "happy knight and gay elves doing magic stuff"-series, but a gritty and dirty tale and I really like that.
I can´t wait to finish the book, start reading the 2nd book, finish the TV series and start watching the 2nd season, which will hopefully air soon.
Trust me, as a long time reader, the series keeps getting better and better. A Storm of Swords is a pillar of great fantasy. The show being reasonably faithful to the book series is a breath of fresh air too.
Im currently watching Angel S4, The X-files S2, Speed Grapher, FMA: Brotherhood, GITS: Stand Alone Complex, Twin Peaks...I also mean to watch The Wire S5 at some point... >_>

Mmm... Person of Interest is ok, but two wonderful actors and a touch of sadistic 24-like kneecap action make up for that. It needs something more though.
I'll keep watching for now, and should any of you start with it, give it up to including episode 7. They are trying to step it up and I like the effort. It's not a top newcomer, but a nice addition to the prime list. I believe they got a full first season. Flashback to John Doe here, so we'll see what happens.
Also, Flippy, the mayor already got his second season. And Kathleen is a naughty girl indeed, it's those glasses dangling on the tip of her nose ;D

The last season is clearly the weakest but still it delivers and wraps everything up nicely with a perfect ending.
10 out of 10 any day.

Basically since Fox doesn't recognize quality even when it punches it in the face. They only look at numbers and have no eye for clever quality TV. If they had recognized what they had, they would've been way more supportive. I mean, you have the writer of one of the most celebrated TV shows in history (Buffy) and a cowboys-in-space setting! Instant cult.
They did it again last year with Whedon's Dollhouse. Really good show, but hard to fit in a specific genre so after 2 seasons another great show bites the dust... But hey, long live DVD, right? ;-)

So Boardwalk Empire's second season is now over and I just finished watching (or well... processing of what happened) the last episode few minutes ago.
I cant say anything really. This series has such great writers its just unbelievable. The Sopranos was the last series that grabbed me this much and made my emotions spin all over the place over imaginary things. Boardwalk tops that with flying colours. Like I told Mudra on MSN, I lost my marbles with the finale. It was both absolutely fucking awesome and in the same time it was the worst episode of the whole series. But it being "worst" falls into category, it is worst by being so fucking great.
All Boardwalkers will know what I mean when they have seen the finale.

as with all tv shows that are cancelled, they dont generate enough ca$h. Or in some cases, because they feel like it. Sad though, Firefly was awesome.
Have stopped QQing about cancelled TV shows, it happens, and when it does it's usually because not enough people watch it. (or because there's a more moneymaking series to takes its place)

Started watching Parks & Recreation last week. Saw that name pop up the last year a couple of times and decided to check it out. At first it came off as The Office - With Boobies and I wasn't convinced it was that funny, bit just before the ending of the first season (only 6 ep's) suddenly things clicked. The second season amped up the quality and now it's easily one of the best comedy shows around.
Basically 'The Office meets Arrested Development', it's stuffed full of cool actors (S.N.L.'s Amy Poehler, The Office's Rashida Jones, Azis Anzari) and cameo's from guys like Will Arnett (A.D.) to Andy Samberg (Lonely Island).
Check it out if you're into one of the above mentioned shows, or are just in the mood for some really funny TV (and do make sure you watch beyond episode 4, it goes from 'good' to 'really good' after that).

Just watched the last episode of season two Board Walk Empire.
Absolutely amazing ... literally give me goosebumps. The sheer quality of this serie continues to surprise me.
Hopefully Game of Thrones starts soon, otherwise I will have to go into hibernation mode until season three starts.

The end is near of the seventh season of this great season. The latest episode was great, a two-part special when the gang rejoins with their old high school friends and foes for a reunion. Old rivals meet again and old friends as well.

Due to a rather funny piece about the German Guard of Augustus, I've started watching I Claudius all over again, Livia is still the murderous woman, and Claudius still limps. Other than that, it's still one of the best series about imperial Rome there is.

Me and my girl just finished the first season of Homeland with Damian Lewis and Claire Danes.
Damian Lewis plays an American sergeant in the USMC who gets taken prisoner in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Meanwhile Claire Danes character, the CIA operative gets hold of information that an American prisoner of War 'has turned' and become a terrorist.
It's a nice story, good characters and some nice plots with twists and turns. If you like 24 you'll surely like this as well, you can see that some of the 24 staff has been in the production of this.

It's nice isn't it, it gets extra points for 1,5 hours of finale. I like that pretty much every character has flaws. Claire Danes is quite a revelation. She's a dimension away from the standard we-need-a-female-partner/doctor-role-to-look-pretty. Damien, as we all know, is a fine actor. The guy playing Saul is also great. Took me almost an entire episode, no Googling hehe. I finally recognized his voice. Dead Like Me.
Plus lots of nice faces in the supporting cast, and would you believe it, no CCH Pounder for once! Hurray!
On a sidenote, the Boss finale was horrifying. Top notch. I'd say he got his Emmy nomination, but the season is too short probably to get it. Lots of flesh in both too, masking as a prime manipulative tool ;D

I started watching Castle last week, a cop show about a Dean Koontz type writer who helps out a local cop on her investigations. The premise is pretty standard but the reason I started watching it is because I'm a big Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity) fan and wanted to see what he's up to nowadays besides voicing stuff for Robot Chicken.
Turns out it's actually a really cool show, although he makes it cool. The stories are kill-of-the-week type mysteries but it's all about the characters. After a couple of episodes you just want to hang with them, and that's the mark of a good TV show for me. The homicides themselves are gruesome and intricate enough, without the whole thing getting too elaborate or pretentious.
In short, it's Moonlighting (remember that?) meets CSI I guess. Season 1 ended with a hint of an ongoing storyline so I'm curious where they'll take it next.
So yeah, recommended. Cpt. Mal Reynolds has earned your attention and time! ;)

Hell on Wheels (AMC's new show) is preyy OK so far, just watching the Episode 8 and it's sure worth the time. I almost think the characters are more interesting then the story itself sometimes but no worries, it's good and can surely turn out to something amazing.

Allo Allo is a show where you watch one episode, and then immediately have to watch 5 more because the story (and sillyness) just keeps on getting better. And it is a complete story, in season 4 or 5 they still reference stuff from episode one.

One of my favorite shows of all time, 2 Seasons to catch up before February 19th with 6 episodes per season, 30 minutes each. Trust me, it's worth the time.

I just started the first season of Pushing Daisies this week. I've loved Dead Like Me for a long time now, and recently enjoyed Wonderfalls, so I'm not surprised at how much fun another Bryan Fuller show is. All I can say is this show is more like a stage performance than a classical TV show. Quirky, exaggerated sets, rapidfire dialog and story pacing, an almost lyrical narration, a beautiful score, great characters and acting, all pulled together in a way that is amazingly consistent and fun to watch...

I didn't like the way HBO dumbed down Tyrion in the battle scenes. He was actually pretty good with an axe, but in the series he was just comic relief. Otherwise he was decently portrayed as the smart "good" Lannister that he is.*
I just hope that they made the Battle of the Blackwater well. Dumbing down Tyrion in that battle would require stupidity of one kind.

AFAIK the reason we didn't see Tyrions extremely awesome battle scene where he impaled a horse with his spiked helmet were budget reasons. Massive battle scenes are quite expensive, especially for a TV production.
Looking forward to the 2nd season, anyway. Mainly because we'll see more of Daenerys boobs. :D

GoT/CoK spoilers...
It was definitely a budgetary reason not to do any of the big battles. The fighting with the clansmen wasnt as thorough for one. Also, the books didnt visually cover the ambush of Jaime by the Northern cavalry, but even that was simplified. Especially when it was the first season and they werent sure how well it would do. Maybe now theyll put some extra in for Danaery's storyline. I mean damn...dat scene with the Janissaries... :3
There were quite a few details they changed around a bit to save resources on production, or to make up for the lack of exposition that is lost moving from book to film. Overall though, they did a damn good job, and I doubt any other studio could have done it as well.

After racing through 3 seasons of Castle I realised that Dexter was of course already over for this season.
So Dexter season 6: loved it. They (thankfully) turned down the tempo a bit as Dexter is now more in control of his life but the rest is the still the same. Gruesome, witty, original and with a wallop of a cliffhanger. Can't believe I have to wait a full year for this to continue.
I do miss Lumen though... :-(

I started watching Star Trek, when I was about 7-8 years and and Voyager started. Didnt knew about it before. But my brother, who is much older than me, was hyped at that time about the start of a new ST series, so I thought it must be cool, like everything your older brother does, when you are at that age. Soon I got into it and became a fan of Voyager. That time I learned, that there where also other Star Trek series, but couldnt understand, what was so interesting about them. So except for maybe 2 or 3 episodes of DS9 and sporadically some Episode of TNG, I never watched any other Star Trek and besides that, I started watching Stargate and became a real big Stargate fan (Ok, now you can continue laughing at me), so Star Trek didnt bother me at all form that time, except for Voyager, as it is a part of my childhood and early youth.
During the last years I have met and talked to some people about ST, who really wanted to convince me, that DS9 is the best ST series, I started to think about it and decided to watch them all, from the beginning to the end, which is really necessary in DS9.
Now, that I am nearly finished (last episode of season 6 left and full season 7, so dont spoil me ;) ), I really have to say, It IS worth watching it. It is the best ST series. It features everything, a long term character development, lots of different characters, a plot, which really lasts from the first to the last episode, a lot of funny moments (Quark vs Odo!), it is about love, war, politics, religion, terrorism and shows a very differentiated view on the world of star trek. But the most important thing is, not everything and every problem is solved in one episode, nor everything is solved in an ethical "federational" way, there are just some things, which are basicly unsolveable, which makes it much more believable, than everything before.
But to make a plot like this possible, the series has to start very slowly and needs really a lot of episodes. The plot begins with all the problems following the Cardassian-Federational War and the occupation of Bajor, and slowly develops into another war with a new enemy, the dominion, which is established real slowly, yet very believable. During the story, there are hopes for peace, set-backs and all such things.
All in all, I like it really much. So if you consider yourself as atleast a little interested in Star Trek and have never watched DS9, you should give it a try, but it really takes its time its 178 episodes.

Continuation-wise it's great, especially the Dominion Wars. But TNG was the best. That's more or less why DS9 added the Defiant and more pew-pew later on. There was a lull in the eps when it was bordering on Soap in Space. And stations don't fly. That evil clone that gets killed over and over again cracks me up every time though :)

Yes Oberst, I can't really discern from your post whether or not you've watched TNG, but in my opinion, that's really the best series. The first two seasons are a bit "old", but the later seasons are absolutely excellent.

I have watched a lot of them, I never watched them in a systematic way, which is not so important with TNG. And it is a good series, I mean its the beginning of the decade, where Star Trek became really popular at the end of the 80s and during the 90s. The characters are nice, and of course there is a development over the seasons and such. Just look at Picard, he is the best captain, it is of course a complex character. That applies to the others, too. There are even some plotlines, which cover more episodes over all the seasons. But the main difference is the story telling.
TNG tells a complete story during one episode. Everything is done in it, its closed. You could pick one episode from one season and just watch it, after it you are done. This applies to a lot of series back then, like it was back for example in TOS (which I watched also btw.). Of course during that episodes, history of the characters are shown, how they became like they are, they might even change a bit or learn a lesson.
DS9 is different, which I like very much. It brings a plot line with it, which covers a lot more episodes. The character change between them much more, than in the series before. Of course every episode tells a closed story, but if you look at them closely, most of the episodes serve a purpose in the greater story line, which is sometimes not even obvious. It is more like an epic film.
The next thing is, a lot of episodes are not about what they first appear and do not have always the obvious ending, like often in TNG. Which doesnt make TNG bad, you still have to consider that some years lie between creating DS9 and TNG, and DS9 was never supposed to be like TNG.
Take for example the episode, where Sisko and Odo are called to earth, to do something about the Founders, who are on earth. At first it seems like, they will just do a little fighting, searching, scanning and invent something to find them all or whatever and in the end, there are no more spies on earth. But the episode turns out to end different as expected. The episode was more about to weigh between freedom and security and different views on that. And in the end, there are still spies on earth.
And dont forget one little thing, DS9 is sometimes a soap Opera in Space or even a (romantic) comedy, which gives a great contrast to the more brutal episodes and the complex ethical questions.

Being an avid Star Wars fan I missed ST: TNG the first time around (I really couldn't be bothered with Star Trek back then) but I did follow ST: V when it was on on dutch telly.

Currently watching Dead Like Me . I remembered it being on Comedy Central a couple of years back. Liked the premisse, but never watched it. Since it was only 2 seasons I decided to give it a go.
It's about a girl who gets killed by a toiletseat falling from Mir spacestation and becomes a reaper, an undead person who collects the dead for Death. I know, it sounds like the show Reaper (which was awesome), but to my surprise it's a totally different story. Apparently these undead reapers live among us, have steady jobs (Death expects you to work for free) and basically try to make the best of it.
It has a lot going for it. Bleak and dark humor, an Office Space vibe running through it, and genuinely heartfelt characters. The girl who plays the lead, Ellen Muth, is perfectly cast. Besides being pretty hot in a 'alternative' kind of way (and yes, that is a plus in any TV show), her voice and lazy, foul mouthed delivery has completely won me over.
Despite the focus on death it's definitely a comedy, but with 45 minute episodes a proper drama show as well. Nice music and some cool direction. It's a 'small' show, so maybe not for the high profile Game Of Thrones crowd but basically recommendable to anyone who likes good TV.

Hehe, I actually also quit watching then, I picked it back up about 15 eps before the conclusion. I miss ST too, in general. The BBC used to squeeze a few TNG ones in, years back, say, Thursdays at 18.00/19.00, but not anymore.
Dead Like Me is great, such an out-of-the-box series. Loved it.
This guy put up the greatest hits of the Dominion Wars. He loses it in a couple, adding some other films and series, but mostly, it's quite nice and well edited for an amateur.

I want to start watching that show, simply because it has Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segal and Alyson Hannigan in it, but still haven't gotten around to it. Seems like fun, in a classic sitcommy kind of way.

Take that back! Lilly and Robin are extremely awesome, too! The whole show is pretty good (when you ignore that it´s the longest father-kids-talk, ever) and Lilly and Robin are one of the reason why it´s so succesful.
Lilly and Marshall are a great couple, especially now that they´re married and Lilly´s pregnant, Robin is great because, well, she´s a hot Canadian chick who fights wolves and shoots guns and Ted is funny, too, especially when he´s doing that desperate "I´m an architecture professor"-thing.

I didn't like the way HBO dumbed down Tyrion in the battle scenes. He was actually pretty good with an axe, but in the series he was just comic relief. Otherwise he was decently portrayed as the smart "good" Lannister that he is.*
I just hope that they made the Battle of the Blackwater well. Dumbing down Tyrion in that battle would require stupidity of one kind.

Started out with Firefly not long after it came out (I will forever be grateful to my friend who introduced me to it). Then when, after Serenity, it became clear that there wasn't gonna be any more I watched Angel to get my newfound Joss Whedon fix. Was immediately sold. Still wasn't really up for trying Buffy but 2 years ago Dollhouse came out, and that was amazing too. Then last year finally watched Buffy. Loved it.
You also might want to try Dr Horrible Sing-along Blog. If you're into Whedon's stuff, you'll love every minute of it.

Started watching "Spartacus: Blood and Sand".
I´ve finished episode 4 and like it so far. The fights are pretty good and remind me of "300". The only thing I dislike a little about them is the unrealistic ammount of blood sometimes appearing. But I guess that only fits to the "Blood & Sand"-theme, so it´s alright.
Since it´s an HBO show there´s plenty of boobs and sex scenes, which I like, too.
I´m not sure how historically accurate the show is, since I´m no expert in ancient history, but despite the English language disfiguring Latin phrases and words, it feels quite authentic.
Ancient Romans weren´t known for their piety and "good manners", so it shows how they passed their free-time quite well: Feasts, fights for life and death, wine and public sex.

Well, the show definately feels a bit "American", but otherwise I feel like it portrays Roman society quite well. I´ve had Latin for several years in school and Roman society was pretty "rotten" (atleast from a Puritan point of view), so the portrayal in the TV show seems to be pretty good.
There´s some disagreement among historians wether Spartacus was Thracian or not and not much of his past is well known, but I take the show more as an entertaining fictional story that has some historical influences. I doubt it´s meant to be an educational story, pretty much like "300" and as that it´s doing a fine job.

Kinda curious too. I always take any depiction of ancient times with a grain of salt since we can only guess as to how people actually looked and lived back then. The only stuff we know now is based on word-of-mouth and archeological finds. Not to say that you can't deduct anything from those sources, but just saying you can not really say for sure they didn't look like that. Wrong tanks in Battle Of The Bulge? Big distraction in a so-so movie. Wrong uniforms in a well made period drama not so much.
Anyway to keep on topic: Season 4 of Castle just ended last weekend. I'm now halfway through the season (averaging 3 eps a night) and I love how good it is. And it feels like it keeps getting better the more the actors grow into their role. Every episode is like a cool minimovie, with everything in it. Romance, tension, gunfights, humor, cameradery, etc. While it's basically a murder-of-the-week show, multiple episodes already hint at something bigger yet to come.

I gave you a reason: fucking metalplate on a Roman officer that dies in the last episode of the last season. Gleber something. There where no badass metal cuirasses like that.
Cool fucking cloaks for every Roman soldier. Badass underwear made from 10 different materials for every gladiator. Toga's that don't look like toga's. Fucking lorica segmentata that is like 100 years early.
Oh and not to mention that in the new season Gaius Julius Caesar will play a part. GJ Caesar.. He was a civil lawyer or something like that during the Spartacus revolt.
Also to people saying that you can have no clue what Roman's looked like; yes you can. There has been a massive documentation on Roman equipment by the Romans, there are gazillions of depictions of Roman troops and enough Roman equipment has been found to get a good idea of what they looked like.

I gotta say HIMYM really has something special. It's not a show that you must watch but still you want to see every episode there is. It's not something you spam all your friends about but still every damn week you are there and waiting for the latest episode.
Not many TV shows that has that something.

These last few Mondays have been extreme for me!
Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Eastbound and Down.
Mad Men and Games of Thrones will keep on going but today we say goodbye to Eastbound and Down.
Although these season was the weakest of the three ones HBO made it was still a great run and well worth the time and effort. A perfect finale as well.
Kenny Powers will be a missed character. Is there really anything close to Kenny Powers on TV today? Maybe some of the characters from It's always sunny in Philadelphia but still not that close.
Mad Men keeps going strong and steady, my god what an episode.
Besides being one hell of a show this latest episode even had a fist fight between Lane Pryce and Pete Campbell! Old school fist fight in the conference room. It was so amazing I even call it modern TV history. It was that good.

Besides the usual TV shows I started re-watching "Generation Kill". For those who don´t know it, a short description:
The TV series is an adaption of a book written by a Rolling Stones journalist who is embedded with the 1st Recon Btl of the USMC. He follows the Marines who act as spearhead during the 2003 Iraq invasion and describes their experiences, like actual combat, contact with the Iraqi population, incompetent officers, living in the field under the most primitive conditions etc.
It´s quite authentic and I´ve enjoyed every minute, so far. Those who are unfamiliar with military slang and structures might have some understanding problems, but otherwise it´s really good. It´s no "America strong!!1"-show, as some might expect, but pretty honest. It portrays the war from the grunts perspective and therefore gives an honest insight into their "job".

Anyhow, also started checking out True Blood more and more. A show I have completely missed out.
Season 1 so far, halfway through: I like it.
Have heard this and that about this show and especially in later seasons but who gives a damn. Right now I enjoy the creepy Southern dudes, women, vampires and all that's in this show.

Last week I started on How I Met Your Mother. That show is way funnier than it should be with that concept. Cool to see half the cast of Freaks & Geeks, Alyson Hannigan is great (I'm not really into relationships, but she would make the perfect GF, well, up untill half of season 1 anyway...) and NPH's Barney is my new favorite TV character. Love it. And the cool thing is, I've still got 6,5 seasons to go. Yay, for newly discovered older TV shows!

Maybe start Madmen again. Ended with season 2 a couple of years ago and wasn't really compelled to continue after that. It seemed that the Big Draper Storyline that had been hinted at in the first season wasn't really coming through at all. But since now it's in its 5th season I might catch up.

HoW is quite entertaining and actually worth the time if you ask me, not the best thing I have seen but still good, enjoyable, interesting characters and storyline. Good first season.

Mad Men's current season is just amazing. Haven't seen such a strong season deliver so much since (forgive me, Flippy) The Sopranos.
It's just so unique and well done every damn time and it keeps on growing.
Also giving HBO's Girls a new chance, the first episode was uhm, special.
Next up, latest Games of Thrones!

Currently watching House MD season 8. I must say that this season is at par with the first 4 seasons of House MD. Hugh Laurie is cracking up jokes once again and the cases are really interesting. i simply can't get enough of Sherlock on the PBS masterpiece theater show.
Almost kicked my buddies out of the house when they were talking so loud that i couldn't follow the dialogue on the season finale. Cumberbatch and Freeman are such an amazing team that I could honestly watch them discuss each others' dick sizes while standing at a public urinal.

I seem to recall that Mad Men will be wrapped up very soon, i do agree that the show kicks some ass but period historical pieces generally have a very short shelf life. Kind of like how Downton Abbey is popular at the moment but will soon fade out (I hope).

-Guns who fire like they are BB guns with some powder. Seriously it is worser then a 1960 movie with a budget of 100 000 dollars

I could not stand Falling Skies. I don't know, I liked the main plot and the choice of actors but still. It was so, damn, boring.
It was like Jericho - One of the best stories for a good TV show and they still manage to fuck it up.

Currently in season 6 of How I Met Your Mother. Been doing a season a week I guess, and I still love it. It's like Friends, but better. I liked Friends back then for what it was, but the friends themselves were too contrived, the characters on HIMYM are just more relatable and 'real'. It's just wittier and I love how they play with the concept and structure of the sit-com. Not in a meta-way like on Community, but more within the confines of said genre. A nice mix between real life issues and never ending banter.
Robin Sparkle, Suck It Lily - The Play, the 2 minute date...too much highlights. :-)
Also started on season 7 of Supernatural and it still delivers. Worried a bit about the show getting too serious and soapy with the focus on the main end-of-the-world storyline taking up most of the first couple of episodes but thankfully the writers seem to remember what makes this show so awesome. Great writing, a couple of cool new characters, still highly watchable. Love how they suggest this whole failing world with angels fighting demons but if you look at it closely it's really just a character-driven show, where you hardly see anything more than a couple of guys talking or fighting. :)
A while back I tried watching recent seasons of other favorites Californication and Eastbound & Down, but somehow both shows were a little disappointing. Californication's recent season felt too contrived. I love that show and Hank, but this time around it just comes across like the writers aren't even trying anymore. Hanks obsession with his ex wife makes him just look like a delusional dick now and it's become unrealistic. His character needs a new angle, fast. If they want to contunie this show for much longer. Same for his ex wife. The only character that still seems fresh and developing is Runkel.
Eastbound & Down couldn't really entice me like the previous two seasons. Now I will always love McBride for this creation, but the show itself drags a bit and the one-joke premisse has been milked to the last drop. It's not bad (far from!) but I just saw the last 2 episodes in my download folder and realised they've been there for weeks while I never had the urge to finish the show. Same goes for Californication... :(

okay watched some episodes of the serie falling skies
i have to say that it is much better since the pilot. Guns sound like video game guns and no longer like toy guns. the story is good, the aliens are well done. This issent an "amazing" series. but its a good gap filler that is left behind by Game of thrones, Boardwalk empire and the walking dead.
Season of this serie starts 17 june. ill be watching it via TNT wich appearntly now avaible via Telenet.
still some downsides to this series. but most things i disliked have been corrected.

Falling skies season 2 has begun
And my god what a HUGE improvement
you can clearly see the much more attention giving to animations(skitters, slenders), firearms (guns actually fire like a GUN) and overall props. The props are amazingly well done. Not as awesome as HBO props, but still very close
you can feel and see that there has been an apocalpyse, and humanity is fighting to survive.
Arisaka99 warned me about season 1 and he is right. But he and i both agreed that falling skies season 2 has Vastly improved in overall quality and the show is now actually worth watching to

Watched Falling Skies 2x01, and it's a bit better. Probably quitting it though. There's still little story, too much filler bickering, too many kids and a cliche doc of 'acting fame'. Only minor characters will get wacked and the doc will love the teacher. Pope might die because the rest won't. Add some medic filler episodes, more brother and command structure troubles and that's season 2.
How about they find a classified space shuttle wreck, a ruined observatory, a leading alien nemesis, a double-agent alien, an ancient artifact pointing to earlier visits, an alien signal - but not from the invaders. I could go on. You don't need a large budget to make it more interesting (for adults).
It's better, but still nothing above drive, bicker, drive, pew pew and get back home for some hugs. Tom and Pope are cool though.

Bit of a surprise, but the network has little else besides cops, docs or lawyers. Ratings are falling and reviews are getting pretty horrid. Too many kids and teens stuff, although there's one thing I agree on.
Let's NOT give the women anything to do. I like that.

Been on the lookout for new shows after I depleted all the shows I'm currently watching:
Louie
Show from and about stand-up comedian Louie C.K.. Sort of The Office meets Sarah Silverman Program, in that it has that typical awkward humor vibe from The Office and the surreel just-not-quite-the-real-world feel from Silverman's show (and that it's all about the lead character). Took me a couple of episodes to "get" his humor, but it's sweet and harsh at the same time. It's not a joke-a-minute show, so you kinda have to decide beforehand if you're gonna like it. Just finished season 1, starting 2 tomorrow or tonight.
Veep
HBO remake (sort of) of BBC show In The Thick Of It. Veep is short for VP which is short for Vice-President. The only one to actually have a post-Seinfeld career, Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Veep Selina Meyer. It's a satirical show about the daily dealings of the VP of the USA. I guess you have to be interested in politics to enjoy most of it, but it's up to HBO's standard. Just finished first season (8 ep.'s) and, while it isn't there yet, it has the makings of a really good show. Cool actors, humor goes from stupid fresh to farcical stuff you can see coming a mile away, interesting to see where this is going.

Firefly has so much cheezyness, yet it easily gets away with it. You should check it out Captain, if only to know what the fuzz is all about. I believe most of Battlestar Galactica's fx are made by the same people? Anyway, it's almost like Firefly got so good (or downright over-the-top bizarre) for a casual sci-fi tv-series, where there used to be many of those... Stargate, Farscape especially, that it couldn't be allowed to live ;)

Since I´ve still got summer holidays and not much to do because I´ve finished all my exams and papaers, I´ve starterd watching Breaking Bad. I know, I know, the show´s over already, but I didn´t really have the time in the last semester to get into it. Now that I do have time, though, I really start to enjoy it. Bryan Cranston is a really great actor and I enjoy seing him as Mr. White. :D

To regular readers it doesnt come as a surprise that I am currently watching Boardwalk Empire (rinse and repeat, bitch!) again. My plan is to finish the two seasons before the third season starts and Im doing quite good... since today I finished the fifth episode of the second season. Also, this is to see what kind of subtitle quality is on the DVD releases, so far so good. Some minor errors there and here but nothing that I'd flip a table for.
Cant wait for third season. Monday cant come any faster.

Anyway, did give in to watching Game Of Thrones. I usually wait for shows to end before I start, but I needed a quick fix of good telly. Just watched the first 2 seasons back to back and I like it, although it hasn't really impressed me. Up untill now we've seen it all before. It's Sopranos meets Rome, not much more (yet).
That said, it's mighty addictive viewing, with a constant forward momentum, great characters (and actors - Peter Linklage is the man here. Or half-man...) and a solid fantasyworld/-universe. Haven't read any of the books myself, and I like not knowing where it's going (although it's not hard to guess).
Checked out the second season of Wilfred as well.
Not much changed. Still very funny, still missing a grand narrative. The show seems to be turning inwards (into the head of the lead character Ryan), instead of broadening it's scope, which will turn people off I guess because every episode is basically a problem-of-the-week type deal. But I enjoyed it.

Haven't read any of the books myself, and I like not knowing where it's going (although it's not hard to guess).
Checked out the second season of Wilfred as well.
Not much changed. Still very funny, still missing a grand narrative. The show seems to be turning inwards (into the head of the lead character Ryan), instead of broadening it's scope, which will turn people off I guess because every episode is basically a problem-of-the-week type deal. But I enjoyed it.
The rest of the week we watch you write the most horrible summary of Games of Thrones ... ever. Read the damn books, it like watching LoTR, without ever having read the books, it just doesn't work.
And yes you will hear about BWE every week, because it is that fucking good ;D

That's a nice way of misjudging a show you apparently love. It works perfect, I'm hooked. This is a mainstream TV show that should work perfectly fine without having to read the books. It's simply bad writing if it doesn't work. I'm not judging the works of RR Martin here, I'm judging the TV show on its merits as a TV show. Not even judging, just stating my experience/opinion. About the way it's made and written. Which at times is pretty formulaic and made with the intention of giving the plot a forward momentum, the same way soap opera's do. I nowhere state that as a bad thing.
I'm pretty excited about where the story is going so no, I'm not gonna read the books first. I've got a back log of books that's knee-high and I don't want the show to be just a companionpiece to the books, I want this to be my Game Of Thrones/cool fantasy TV experience. Reading the books would only spoil the ending. ;-)
So sorry if I'm not completely OOH! AAH! about it yet. I've read tons of fantasy in my life, just not your favorite series. Since you are apparently a fan, please elaborate on what sets it apart from the shows I mentioned, and why you're so insulted.

Said it before, saying it again. Brody, Carrie and Saul are played by some great actors. They often act without saying a word. I was a bit worried during the middle of the season, but it's all good. The drama never bores me, pretty much EVERY character has major flaws. Big plus. They're not your cardboard pretty blond and Mr Big lookalikes. Enjoy!

Watched all of the first, and only, season of Carpoolers [2007]. I saw a couple of ep's when it was on the Dutch Comedy Central a while back, and since I depleted all my fave shows aI went looking for something to keep me busy. Without any promise of turning into something bigger, Carpoolers quit while it was ahead I guess. The 13 episodes are funny, the cast is nice, and the whole show has a certain bromantic sweetness to it. But the real reason to watch this is the character Marmaduke (son of one of the carpoolers). He's one of those breakout side characters that make the show, like Sock in Reaper, and every line of his is a killer.
Started on CC's Workaholics too. Love it. At first it seems to be yet another one of those grown up fratboy shows, but these guys know their humor. Everytime you think you know where a certain scene or joke is going, they surprise you with an original turn. Currently at season 3.

I wasnt sold by two episodes of the first season either. By third I was already convinced I had to keep watching if it stays as good and it has only improved all the time. My favorite TV-show of all time.

Obtained the first episode of "The Americans" and will watch it tomorrow. The series tells the story of two KGB agents being "undercover" in the 1980s USA. Plots sounds interesting and quite fresh. Here´s the trailer:

Apparently the History Channel only hosts the show, but didn´t produce it, so there´s some hope we won´t see any alien-illuminati-BS. :D
Anyway, just finished the first episode of "The Americans" and actually quite liked it. The mix of Cold-War-Spy/suburban-life worked pretty good and the show offers enough potential to become an entertaining on-going thing. My recommendations!

I have been watching Twin Peaks the past few weeks. It has been a long time since I last watched it, it must have been mid- to late 90's.
It is one of the most brilliant thing ever created for television. The random improvised bit left in the finalversion are just brilliant.

I just can´t get myself to learn today, so I watched the first episode of House of Cards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Cards_%28U.S._TV_series%29), a political drama series, starring Kevin Spacey as power-hungry congress man who, after he´s been denied a promised career as Secretary of State, wants revenge and uses all necessary and possible means to claim his power.
The first episode was pretty good, especially Spacey is awesome as ruthless politician. Acting in general is great, the story is interesting and since I´m into politics, the first episode got me hooked for more.
So far this year has been pretty nice, when it comes to TV shows: House of Cards, Spartacus, the up-coming Vikings tv show, The Americans and the up-coming GoT season 3 will keep me more than busy! Fortunately the winter semester will be over in ~2 weeks, so I should have more than enough time! :D

Love The Big Bang Theory too, always cracks me up. Zero Hour has two episodes up now, miles away from being high quality, yet so much fun. It's almost like a 'From the creators of The Event..". Heck, anything's better than more doctors, lawyers, policemen and superheroes.

Been watching the 3 seasons for the last couple of weeks. Must admit I wasn't entirely unbiased after the fanboy ragings of certain individuals on this thread but I gave the show a fair shot. That said, I really can't understand the rave reviews this show is getting. Now it is a solid show, but it's basically Mad Men meets Sopranos and struggles to be anything more than that.
The faults of the show are mainly due to writing, plotting and pretentiousness. It seems like the writers of the show can't decide if they want to make a documentary or a TV show, but that's forgivable because they really try to make the period work. Apart from that there are so many frustrating elements that it's hard to really feel for it. Pointless plotthreads that go nowhere (Agent Van Alden, I'm looking at you), characters that behave a certain way because the story demands it (Mss Schroder for example) and there's a lot of repetition, even for a TV show. I mean, how many assassinations can you fuck up? How many scenes of guys looking important while smoking and looking out of a window do you need to see? Annoying characters get way too much screentime and cool characters are under constant threat of being written off without any proper reason. During the course of the 3 seasons I've had at least 1 or 2 moments per season where I felt like skipping the whole series. When at the end of season 2 one of the key characters get offed in what was probably meant as a big unexpected finale, I found myself not caring at all.
But after 2,5 seasons things start to pick up and the season 3 finale was a proper one. I will definitely stick with it. Despite my ranting it does have a lot going for it. Acting and art direction are both spot on. Buscemi is and will always be the man, and he is indeed the highlight of the show, even though half the show isn't about him at all. Interesting characters like Chalky White, Eli Thompson and WWI veteran Richard Harrow are what makes this show great, and I hope the writers realise that in this sense less is more. The annoying characters seem to have largely been terminated (in one - literal - way or the other) and the tempo/coherence has picked up as well.
30 Rock
Didn't know this 7th season was also the last one so it came as quite a surprise when I was watching the 150th episode and realised that after this there would be no more 30 Rock, one of my most beloved TV shows ever.
But what a send-off, In my book one of the greatest/well-fitting endings for a comedy show. The writers held a filrm grip on their baby over the course of 7 years and seemed to know what they were doing right untill the end. Kudos for that since a lot of longer running shows seem to get stuck in some uninspired (but not necessarily boring) routine.

Season 2 is OK but nowhere near as good as season 1. Sadly they had to fit 3 seasons of story in the second season and it suffers for it. Still better than nearly every TV show that is on TV now though.

And once Lori returned to rational thought, and I use both returned and rational in very loose terms as it is Lori I'm talking about, she realized that was the only sane option. And the obsessiveness concerning guns (of course, it's a zombie apocalypse, but in some instances it was even too much despite the situation).
Now in AMCs Breaking Bad, in season 4 (broadcasted autumn of 2011), a character flips through notebook. You can quite clearly see that one one page it says "Ron Paul 2012".
I don't want to start a political discussion, and I have no idea what AMC is considered in the USA. Those are just some observations and assumptions I made, and have wondered about for some time.

Watched the first two episodes of "Vikings" and quite enjoyed it. Despite being not entirely 100% historically acurate I found it to be of really high quality both in the setting and acting. The pacing of both episodes was also nice and didn't drag on like other shows do.
I now just hope that the rest of the show will keep up the high
standard and won't turn into a bitching contest, like TWD...

They mention a few times that Gabe the chemist is a wacky libertarian, that's why it says "Ron Paul". Walt himself is a bit conservative, what with his "I won't accept any handouts" mentality. But that also is just is personality and wanting to seem like a tough father, and of course this hubris is what gets him into so much trouble in the first place.

Wow, thanks alot for the tip! Fortunately I´m back home now so I´ll have the time to watch it. Quite looking forward, hopefully it´ll go in the direction of the famous "Stalingrad" movie and won´t turn into a clusterf*ck such as the remake of "The Bridge".
I´ve also watched the first episode of "Tron: Uprising". Looked quite interesting and I might continue watching it.

Even better. A constant storm of explosions and gunfights can easily become quite boring (see Transformers for example) and having a focus on how the German people lived during the war will add another facet that´ll be quite interesting. As long as they won´t include a stereotypical love triangle, of course. ;D

Watched the first episode yesterday and it was actually quite good. The story is about a group of five friends. Two of the, brothers, are about to leave for the campaign against Russia, while one of them is a Jew. The other two are girls and one volunteers to become a DRK nurse and gets stationed in the East as well (and she´s also quite a cutie). The two main story arcs are about the experience at the front and civilian life, which gets tougher and tougher, especially for the Jewish guy. The protagonists in the east start to realise how much the war against the USSR is different from the previous campaigns, especially when they´re being confronted with ruthless SD members, the Comissar Order and fighting partisans.
The quality of the show is pretty good and the acting is solid. A real surprise, especially since our public broadcasters usually aren´t very good. The only exception are combat scenes which feel a bit "cheap", but then this isn´t "BoB" or "The Pacific" with a huge budget. Combat is also not the main focus of the show, so it´s alright. Hopefully they´ll release it atleast with English subtitles, as it´s nice to have a series about WW2 showing both the German military and civilian perspective.

Watched the first part of Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter and I liked it. Cant wait to see other two episodes. It's not that often that we get this stuff from germany... :P
And even thought I dont have english subtitles for it, I still somehow understand what they are saying. All those years spent with FtN in their teamspeak must have paid off because I somewhat understand spoken german but cant understand written.
Will look into getting this on DVD, seems like it would be a nice addition the my library.

Just finished watching it too. It´s quite good, I liked it a lot. But there were hooded Kar98ks in autumn 1941!! Blasphemy! But other stuff was made quite well. The lack of proper uniforms and them using blankets to get some proper camouflage etc.

Oh, I saw them too. It was a really good series and I'll definitely get it on DVD. Didnt have english subtitles thought, but then again, I feel like I really didnt need them either. It was fantastic, emotional and you know you are getting older when nothing but war movies make your eyes tear. ;D

My interpretation:
He realized that he lost everything. War has turned him into the "perfect" soldier. He´s numb, obeys orders, is efficient at killing others and probably won´t be able to live a normal life in a civilian society. The HJ guys on the other hand have never experienced real combat. They were full of propaganda and he wanted to both show them what a bloody business combat is and at the same time also "pulled the plug" and ended his life. His suicide enabled the others to come to their senses and made them surrender to the Soviets. Also Miriam Stein is cute as hell. :D

Saw yesterday and awesome serie named "Suburgatory". Only problem, it's at 12:10 so i'm 100% sure i will miss some episodes of it becuz that isn't the time you think of watchin tv. I went to the site of the makes and you could watch all the episodes there,if you live in the USA... My IP doesn't allow it as "foreigner", what i think is stupid since streaming and or downloading music/movie/seriematerial is legal in my country (downloading software or uploading copyrighted stuff isn't :( ) according to professors of law, so i don't get why it's blocked. Anyway, anyone knows where you can watch series 100% sure virusfree? or even better, this series on their official site

A ton of proxy servers get blocked by the networks, it can be worth a try.
The main reason why you cannot watch the show online is due to the TV network not having broadcast rights for a certain show in a particular country and it is also due to the potential loss of advertising revenue.
The show wasn't made for free and the producers have every right to make money. Your best option is just to PVR or videotape the shows that you miss.

Quite frequently, a local TV providers has the rights to a show and will make it available for streaming under certain conditions. It's just a matter of finding out where it is broadcast, and by whom...

The story is average. But the visuals, design, atmosphere and potential is in the right place.
If you like SCIFI with aliens and a hint of steampunk, Defiance is worthy of watching

This. I hade pretty low expectations from the start, after hearing how it would forget all that is historical accuracy and just be a total action-series.
I watched 5 minutes of the first episode, then quit. Never doubted about it.
So yes, I may not have enough to go on to actually proclaim it's worthlessness, but it was utter crap.

I have recently been watching anime's again. well actually one
Its called "Attack on titan" or Shingeki no Kyojin.
Its an fantasy/steampunk series about humanity being attacked by 15 meter "titans" wich are gaint towering "Men" who devour humans.
This anime has been getting alot of popularity recently, and i can see why. Unlike other animes, this one issent a silly robo maid mecha catear KAWAII Desu anime. Its pretty darn serious.

Watched the first episode of "The White Queen". It's set in 15th century England, right in the middle of the War of the Roses. Although there wasn't that much action yet, it's promising though. It's also partially shot in Bruges, for it's medieval look. So anyone who's been there will certainly recognise some locations.
The story so far... (SPOILERS)
Edward of York, King of England for now, encounters the widowed Lady Elizabeth Grey, from a Lancastrian family, and falls in love. They get married, much against the will of the Earl of Warwick, who would have rather seen Edward marry Princess Bona of France.

"House Of Cards"
Directed by David Fincher and Kevin Spacey, with Kevin Spacey and Kate Mara as main characters. The plot is about the US congress particularly Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) who knocks out opposing politicians with the help of the press (Kate Mara as Zoe) and massive corruption. Very intriguing, fantastic characters and amazing storyline. Must watch imo.

HBO is going to release a new show called True Detective (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8i5CR4kDjM), which looks really, really promising. It´ll air in January 14, so together with new seasons of "Vikings" and "House of Cards" there´s another show to look forward to in winter/spring 14. Can´t wait.

So I watched 2 episodes of the new season of How I Met Your Mother.
Wow, just wow. I've seen series jump sharks before, but this one has jumped over an entire shark-enclosure.
Absolutely worthless. Seriously, don't watch it.
I started watching mostly out of habit. I don't think it's funny, and haven't for a long time, just "meh, might as well see what happens". I had planned on seeing this whole last seaosn, just out of habit. I doubt I'll be able to do that. It's really really painful to watch.

Not quite as good as the previous seasons.
Actually, it's quite a 'Low performance' compared to especially Season 1 and 2.
But still, it's worth the watch - Mainly thanks to the dialogue and the charachters being just too much.

Just finished watching Dexter finally (took me like forever to watch the last two episodes).
SPOILERS AHEAD; DON'T READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED YET
Well, I don't know. It is almost the same as with Mass Effect 3. The ending is not horrible like some people like to refere it but it is far from great I must say.
It did not have to be a happy ending but this is kinda lame. Having Dexter become a Lumber Jack, what the hell? I would have stopped with Dexter cruising into that storm or something. Maybe even have a big showdown where he dies. But this, I don't know. Can't find the words for it apart from lame.
As I said, not horrible, but not worthy the series (really like Mass Effect 3).

Really? I wasn't too fond of it. A few great episodes of course (Mac's brother was absolutely great) but some of them seems kind of forced in a way. Series has always been way "out there" with crazy ideas etc. But this season, it felt like they forced this on the episodes.
Maybe I should rewatch it though, don't remember most of them now.

Just recapped a bit on all episodes. and I seem to be mistaken, there are some definite good episodes there too. But still, previous seasons has been better

Started a new tradition by rewatching Generation Kill. Want to do this now every year because the show is so damn good. One of my most favourite TV shows ever produced.
Also, the new season of "House of Cards" will start at 14th February. Can´t wait for this one to start, because it´s another awesome show.

In this new HBO show Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play two police officers who get entangled in the hunt for a serial killer. Gonna watch it later today and I´m already quite excited about it!
Alright, just finished the first episode and really liked it. The story is set in rural Louisianna in the year 2012 and revolves around an ocult murder that happened there in 1995. Harrelson and McConaughey play an unequal pair of state police investigators and both shine in their roles. Will follow this show now weekly and hopefully the rest of the episodes will be as good as the first one. HBO just seem to now how to produce good shows!

Totally agree. Kevin Spacey is made for this role. I´m 5 episodes in already and so far the show has absolutely delivered. Will postpone writing on my papers tomorrow to finish with the rest and see how it goes.
Also, True Detective is absolutely phenomenal and I´d rank it as one of the best tv shows of the recent years. Can´t wait for mondays new episode. It´s just too bad the show´s already half-way over and the next season won´t feature Harrelson and McConaughey, anymore. :/
Season 3 of Sherlock kinda disappointed me, tbh. But atleast the new seasons of GoT and Vikings will start, soon.

I hope True Detective finds actors as good as McConaughey and Harrelson. Rust is a pretty damn awesome character.

Indeed, I believe we had season three in Holland last year. There was one woman last year, really. They should transport her back to a flowerpower community in 1962, seriously, I would even bet she is a heavy neurological patient. Total basketcase. I don't think she was from this planet tbh. But then again, I am of the opinion about 70% of mankind shouldn't be allowed to perform complex tasks.

Pretty good stuff! Season 1 edges out on season 2 however.

Watched "Generation War" and "The Pacific". Loved em both. Felt really sad when the younger brother died in generation war. As for the Pacific i still wonder if that Snafu guy was constantly high or was born this way. Loved the scene where Leckie shoots down that green army officer and gets the girl but hated it when John Basilone died. Both series make we want more well made war movies and series.

I´m three episodes in and despite the age the show is really good so far. Great characters, fascinating setting and an intriguing storyline.
The second one is the seven-part HBO show John Adams, which is based on the historical character with the same name and is set in Massachusetts, during the times of the American Revolution. It describes how the revolutions started and how the colonies became the United States. Very well done, with great actors and a very authentic feel. Finished two episodes so far and fortunately it doesn´t feel like some uber-patriotic wank-fest, but tries to paint an accurate picture of the time and the events.
