Yea,as taught:Ogledow   ;)
It has that super natural feeling like dukla(until 2.52 change ). Big open spaces, little hills, sparse placed houses, long range shooting... Nicee

Is that new method for undergrowth? That yellow fields look awsome! 8)

EDIT: SUPORT WAW GUYS

Ogledow looks great. A nice big tank map but it’s has really nice detailed villages for the infantry to run in. Plus Tiger 2 vs IS-2 gameplay.

Also note Roughbeaks new manor static
(http://forgottenhope.warumdarum.de/screenshotsfh2/Ogledow/ogledow06.jpg)

Really detailed on the inside with lots of places for infantry to fight.

Awesome update! Ogledow looks as amazing as ever. And that polish mansion villa building looks  really cool and from the screenshot it appears to be fully enterable. Nice job Ts and everyone who contributed to this map! Can't wait to try it out.

Just a note for non-Polish speakers: the map is called Oględów (https://vocaroo.com/i/s0I5NZyxnjxD). Not Ogledow. Thank you.

We already have Tiger 2 vs IS-2 combat on Seelow. What makes Oględów special is the weather, open terrain and long view distance perfect for tanking combined with the crazy ammount of heavy tanks availalbe on this map. Germans can get up to 4 Tiger 2s if they play wisely.

It is fully enterable indeed, with several entrances, accessible first floor, and the attic all connected with two seperate staircases providing a flanking route to avoid cheeky squads party bunkering on the top floor. It gonna be really fun to clear those rooms inside the manor with your PPShs ;)

Well let's hope it works. Are 2 IS2s, an SU152 and 2 T34/85s + mines and Panzerfausts enough to stop them? We will see how it works out in public and if there needs to be any adjustment.
Title: Re: A Roar in the Hay - A Forgotten Hope 2 Update

The comment was not meant as a critic. I am actually very interested in how it will work out. The tools are certainly there, the only questions is, if the weapons can be made to bear. E.g. open fields, which are easy to camp, or if there are sneaky routes and stuff.

Nice work on the map.

There is a quite complex net of trenches for the infantry to hide around the flags, village areas give a lot of cover, there is a fair amount of AT guns available for the russian too. I believe tanks will keep themselves busy enough to let some infantry sneak near them every now and then.

Will there be AT kits with mines and a plethora of mobile AT guns to combat the plethora of tanks?

Unlimited mine kits. In fact, if I am on the Russian side the first round we play this, my first action will be writing "MINE FUCKING EVERYTHING" in team chat.
Also you get the 57mm mobile AT gun, which can penetrate a KT from the side, just need to hide it somewhere.

But this map has been in the works for like two years at least. What's the point of announcing it now without announcing a date?

Also, is the update going to coincide with the changes to the Dukla pass?

By the way, it's cool to remember that the Finland map with planes from the conspiracies thread is still somewhere there. Ogledow proved out to be a pleasant surprise.

This map will come out with the changes to Dukla.

Right now there are other things in the works that the devs want to add to this release that aren't finished. Once those things are finished, there will be a release.

No, my point is that a map is a complex thing with many cooks working on it. For Ogledow for instance several custom statics were made by roughbeak and nissi. The 120mm mortar was made by Fred (I think?) and coded in by Stubbfan. Harmonikater fixed that bizarre KT bug, the testers gave feedback and ideas etc. Probably forgetting people, but my point is that this is the case for every map. And since all these people work for free and on different schedules, actually finishing a patch with several different maps is extremely complex and hard to predict.

The map looks amazing, like someone said I love how nice and bright it is. It reminds me of some of the Red Orchestra maps. The little touches are great, especially the greenhouses and the flowers.  I also love that table with one chair turned up on it, it looks very real. I'm just jealous I won't have a PC to play this for a few months!
Title: Re: A Roar in the Hay - A Forgotten Hope 2 Update
Post by: Matthew_Baker on 18-01-2018, 17:01:54
TS did a good job of making the statics very realistic. The map is very open with large fields for tanking. But in the infantry areas there's a lot of nice detail added to the building interiors and farm/ garden areas.

That's the most fun part of mapping imo, adding those details.

BTW, some inspiration for the community:

Quote
"Award Order #18491

    Name: Oskin, Aleksandr Petrovich
    Rank: Guards Junior Lieutenant
Position and unit: Tank commander in the 3rd Tank Battalion of the 53rd Guards Tank Fastov Order of the Red Banner, Order of Bogdan Khmelnitskiy Brigade
    Year of birth: 1920
    Nationality: Russian
Party affiliation: VKP(b) candidate since 1944
Participation in the Civil War or subsequent combat in defense of the USSR or the patriotic war: South Front from 1942 to February 1943, 1st Ukrainian Front since June 1944.
    Wounds or concussions: none.
    In RKKA since: 1940.
Commissioned at: Korovinsk recruiting office, Ryazan oblast.
    Prior awards: none.

Brief and specific description of heroism: As a T-34 tank commander in a tank group, Guards Junior Lieutenant Oskin showed himself a quick and fearless officer. On August 12th, 1944, when deflecting an attack by superior forces composed of 15 Tiger B tanks (King Tiger), Oskin decided that he would rather die than let the enemy through to Staszow. Comrade Oskin entered into an uneven battle with German tanks. Calmly and surely, he opened fire and ignited three enemy tanks. The others routed under comrade Oskin's deadly fire and fell back. Comrade Oskin's machineguns also cut down submachinegunners riding on the tanks. The enemy did not reach Staszow.

On that same day, fulfilling his orders to knock the enemy out of Ogledow, comrade Oskin's tank burst into the village. With its tracks, it crushed up to 80 fascists, continuing to fire from its gun and machineguns to destroy fleeing Germans and their vehicles. In the battle for Ogledow, three Tiger B vehicles were captured completely undamaged.

For destroying 3 Tiger B tanks, a rushing maneuver to capture Ogledow leading to the capture of three intact Tiger B tanks, and bravery and heroism shown in battle while holding the foothold on the Western shore of the Vistula river, comrade Oskin is worth of the title of Hero of the Soviet Union."

I don't doubt that this person deserved whatever medals he was awarded. But running over 80 people ??? that must be an exaggerated number.

The Russians didn't use the Tigers in combat, they just brought them back for evaluation. Considering how terrible they ran, they would not have been able to keep them in running condition at the front anyway.

Any tweaks to the IS-2's resilience? It really seems up "there" with the Tiger II (or higher). For example, Geballte ladung 3 Kg on the engine deck won't inflict that much damage, when in reality the chassis roof was 30mm thick - making it also vulnerable to the 105 mm leFH rounds (given the right angle/ricochet).
