I'll be the first to negative out!
This mod is too underrated! But somehow it also made it very exclusive and prestigious amongst WW2 enthusiasts and gamers alike.
Games are made to make money, and as such are usually constrained by schedules etc. IMO the quality of the content and build of FH2 blows 99% of comercially made games out of the water!
Amen to that silian, i have the same opinion too. The commercial games are made to accommodate the demands of all kinds of gamers, and also the annoying ones. The smacktards, statwhores, and so on. Despite its commercial success, off-the-shelf WW2 games like CoDs, CoHs, are only popularity poll winners, not a quality excellence. One of many examples is that you can shoot and damage Panther Tank's frontal armor with Sherman's 75mm cannon (although greatly reduced). In CoD2 they parry Crusader III Tank against Panzer II and implied that the Panzer II's gun is superior! Yet it rants about realism and authenticity, something that FH devs gentlemanly seldom brag about.
Other games' extensive amount of WW2 vehicles is just like a list from newbie-clopedia. The realism they brag about is just a show-off of resource-hogging effects. Totally lack of creativity with such amount of resources (I can see now why so many l33t gamers usually disliked major commercial game publisher).
I bought BF2 (FH2/PR), BF1942 (FH), and C&C Generals: ZH (CWC) just for the mods. FH smoked out any other WW2 games out there with the balance between realism, authenticity, and fun. CWC beats any other modern warfare RTS realism-wannabe with its mildly toned realistic 1980-1990era weaponry.
