Best gun for long distance
« on: 19-11-2011, 20:11:17 »
I want to know what is your favorite gun for long distance kills in Normandy and Bulge- No Africa.
You can select up to 2 weapons.
No Sniper versions, just the normal versions please.
No mgs, or guns that can only be fired when prone.

and maybe you tell us in a short sentence why you handle with this weapon best.

Both Lee Endfield are awsome at long range, by far the best gun of the game.
K98k is also an excellent choise, but I prefer the Sight of the Endfields.
Bren is quite impressive for long range, wich make a versatile mg.

K98.

I always found the aiming piece and bolt action allowed for the most steady of distant shots.

Add the hood and it gives you a sense of constraint when aiming, while allowing you to put a clear bead on your target.

With the No.4, the next best for me, it doesn't do it as well, and the carcanos dont give you that constraint. Semi-automatics dont make you respect each shot as much, so I tend to feel i can get away with sloppy aiming.

Fg 42 and No.4
Fg 42 as if I manage to get a 1 shot semi from a mile out I can flip it too automatic when I turn a corner.
No.4 for its versatility.

So an additional question for the people that voted.

Why you dislike the Garand? Sights too small? Too heavy recoil? Semi?

Why you dislike the G43 ?

and pls more votes ;) You dont need to answer, but please vote at least. :)

The FG42.

For some reason, I always achieve insane pixel accuracy shots with it.

The FG42 has really great iron sights. The accuracy is the same as K98k or G43. The only drawback is the weird recoil, but using it semi auto is very effective.

K98k or Springfield. They have the best sights. No.4 and Enfield M1917 are good as well, though.

M1 Garand is so-so, the recoil is not the problem but the obstructive and still not accurate enough sight is. BAR, G43, and FG42 are not for me, and Bren has simply terrible sights IMO), and I can't compensate for the drop with StG, M1 Carbine or SMG's. Speaking of the Carbine, it's a real jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none, because in CQB either StG or SMG's (higher ROF) or semi-automatic rifles (1s1k) work better for me.
