Wow very good looking map!

After waching the youtube clip i went totaly crazy ;) That is FH2 for you guys! Pure realism and historic correctness :) amazing
You should be more amazed that "The Longest Day" actually got it right, for the most part.
Except that those parts shot in Port-en-Bessin represented Ouistreham in the film :p

Well yea, minor detail lol. Read my edited post.

Nice update but as always it begs some questions like...

what happened to Schism's other maps? that North Africa one in particular looked to be fun but as yet it has not seen the light of FH2's day.

Why did 3 separate mappers work on the map? Did CTZ quit and then pass it off to others?

and finally, with the glut of Devs idling on this website lately am I to presume that 2.26 is on its way? (perhaps sooner than later)

o, and before i forget. If this map is based loosely upon "the longest day" scenes from Ouistreham will we see a Panzer on the map for the Gerries and that awesome 20mm static gun that was on top of the Casino for the Germans to rape at will with?

No, this map is entirely based on the commando raid on the town of Port-en-Bessin.  It was quite a hard fought battle that you (knowing your liking for reading up on things) most definitly should read about.  There were reports of a German SP gun around, although wether it took part in the fighting is not mentioned.

That The Longest Day chose to film there is pretty much inconsequential to the maps layout, especially as that building they used for the bunker was entirly constructed as set piece and did not exist during the war.  Still, doesn't stop you from pretending though :)

I just really want ground emplaced weapons for the Germans so that we can get M1 or M3 .50 calibre MG's for the Allies to play with. The 20mm gun IMO is sorely missing for German emplacements, I don't care what static they are situated in, be it a bunker or on top of a building, just as long as they are put in game eventually.

Btw Ramelle Neuville comes to mind as a fictional map,so I was just wondering what real life offensive that map will be based upon, :p

I guess we can pretend a little, it is a game after all.

I don't know if this is "news", I'm positive many of you already know of it (I didn't). But I saw Ramelle Neuville on the test-server the other day.
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

The problem that arises when I read up on this stuff is all the missing kit that would actually make the map more interesting.

examples: German grenade-dischargers, Fougasse flamethrowers, german bike troops, 2 inch mortars (fired without sights), FlakBoots x2 :p, anti-personnel minefields, destructible barbed wire, concealed bunkers, unlimited MG's and grenades for the Germans, as well as tons of snipers for the Brits...

I could go on but all in all I keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. It seems that 47 Royal Marines COmmando had one hell of a fight on their hands and I hope the fight is well represented by the Fh2 mapping team.
