Voip
« on: 20-08-2009, 14:08:08 »
Well originaly it was about drivers but now ive got another problem, my voip.
Ingame, it stops after 30 seconds, when i start playing i can hear my squad members talking but after 30 seconds the checkbox is empty(you know, where you can see if someone has voip enabled or disabled)and at the options it isnt enabled anymore. I really dont know what i can do about it, does bf2 support SoundMax? Or is it something else? The weird thing is, it used to work but since i restalled it like 6 months ago it doesnt anymore.

(O and thx NTH for your response on the driver issues)

Your vid card is not all that, depending on your ingame settings it may cause problems.

Try these drivers:http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=10

normally setting like those should not change themselves.

you could try to search for the con or ini file where the value (0/1) of the checkbox for voip is saved and then make that file write protected.
however that would just be a workaround and not a fix.
maybe just wait and see what the 1.5 patch may do to your problem.

If it works it works, so ikve to change to vallue to 1/1? and than make it readable only?

sv.voipEnabled 1
sv.voipQuality 3
sv.voipServerRemote 0
sv.voipServerRemoteIP ""
sv.voipServerPort 55125
sv.voipBFClientPort 55123
sv.voipBFServerPort 55124
sv.voipSharedPassword ""

Serversetings.con dont think this is the one right?

No serversetting.con isn't the right one. Look in the my documents/Battlefield 2/Profile/generalsetting.con
Just to be safe check out most of the con. files. see if therey is anything sound or VIOP related in them.
If you changed it don't forget to tick on the write protection box in your file properties.

And btw did those drivers work for you ?

AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.1
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 0
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider "software"
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "Medium"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 1
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0.33
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 1
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 0
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 1

NOT working either

And no! i downloaded a desktop driver from that website and my pc almost crashed so im to afraid of making the same mistake again. And it had an error near 60% of the installing that it wasnt licensed or something and after that it stopped and said i was finished installing..
And if i tried installing a nvidea driver from their website, samething happened only than i need a installation disk... My whole operating system is legal(windows etc)

About the sound. It shows software use sound provider yet you have EAX enabeled. Do you have a soundcard or don't you.

About the video driver, I never heard or seen anything like you described when installing a video driver. Are you sure you picked the right one.

Of course he has soundcard, otherwise he’d have no sound at all!

brawble, i need a fix, i dont have any external things wich could effect voip, only thing wich relates to this problem is msn, i cant transfer audio data, like talking wich eachother on msn, it always crashes... but voip in battlefield works fine, untill its disabled after 30 secs... :Z

have you tried running the bf2voicesetup.exe in the bf2 folder ?
it is only supposed to configure the vop settings but i might "reset" the settings to default so it will work again.

give it a try
