Road Signs
« on: 31-01-2010, 18:01:18 »
This suggestion thread is about the French road signs on the Normandy maps.

As some may have seen, we have strange yellow road signs on the French maps. Beeing French (nobody is perfect) I never saw such color on the road signs. I did some research to double check and indeed, they were white or blue with black or white markings (depends if it's for a city, a national road etc). In the same spirit, cities entrance signs should be blue but some where white as well, so !

I know those are pretty small details but important ones. Others road or military signs you did were perfect (like the North Africa military signs). I guess the job wouldn't be that hard to reskin them in white (and blue)
You can find here really nice examples of old French road signs.

I hope you can correct those small mistakes  :P and add more of them on the maps as it give more realism to them...
Best regards,

but arn't these roadsigns supposed to be German ?

I believe these roadsigns are to represent "military roadsigns" to give the correct direction for troops on the move

I'm quite sure i've seen yellow military roadsigns before ...

I'm curious -- do people go into other game mods forums and point out minor discrepancies that they want corrected?  Or is this purely a FH2 thing?

OP, I appreciate your eye for detail...but I think the devs have bigger fish to fry.

On the PR and FH2 forums yes, and maybe USI, but for most others, no.

I think the French are cool.  My uncle lives in France, and I reenact as them!

They are German military temporary road signs. They used both yellow and white backgrounds - I'm 100% sure ;)

In my town they build a temporarely bridge once... Stayed there for 22 years.
There is still a used bailey bridge in Belgium today, Build during WWII.

Temporarely is just a word. It means they have to change it one day, when they feel like it...

Those are not temporary military signs. They are regular German guideposts that have been placed in all occupied countries, when they had the time, and are equal to the regular civilian guideposts used in Germany to this day.

See the difference to military signs  on those pics.

Don't worry, it was a joke, French joke ^^ lol
Which period do you reenact ? I'm doing myself First Empire and XVIIIth century.

I figured.  Anyway, I reenact Free French and Maquis.
