On the subject of North Africa, the book I recently read metioned one of  the hardest things about tanking in the Desert was the Heat/heat haze which made identifying between bushes, trees and enemy tanks very difficult. Anyway an effect could be added like this? :)
Eh, good luck with that. One solution is to make tank-shaped bushes and trees. ::)

Well, that does exist at distances...

On Seige of tobruk, its sometimes requires binocs or a keen eye to tell if its a tank on the horizon or a bush... or more likely a rock. And when you do see them properly at range, increased pixel size makes them wavery.. .Not like in RL (I live in Africa, trust me ;-)), but as a welcome side-effect of computer limitation in representing RL... The irony

I do wish sights for such things as tanks and AT guns weren't so enhanced, increase the luck and caution factor in aiming, rather than make it such that half the army is 'binocs'

But back to Yankee Doodle Africa
