Bastogne / Re: Bastogne 64

The P-47 feels quite awkward for this map, due to visual range and the speed of the plane + it's slow maneuvering speeds.
Tends to slam into the ground or a tree after it has managed to do a attack run.

Maybe another 76 sherman instead of this vehicle would benefit the US team better.

I've got stupid question: why exactly 126 players not 128 as a double amount comparing to the regular servers? :P
Guessing 2 spots reserved for server admins?

Uhmm... Can someone that plays FPS games regularly get offended by the "We're getting ****ed over" phrase?
Considering how much cursing etc is being thrown around in the most popular FPS's these days.

a touch off topic but do you think [ Easter eggs] either daisy cutters , cheiften mark 5's or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWTFG3J1CP8 will make it in game von mudra?
;D with any luck [ crosses fingers]
And yes i know what NATO is von mudra.........[ says thanks to world in conflict :D ].

Daisy cutters? 1960's MBTs?
Dream on..
The track though could be interesting to be heard from a radio at some desolate part of a map though.
But on-topic.
Smoke rounds on Mortars would be good addition, since they seriously would help allies on some maps where the only arty piece is mortars.

Phosphorous shells though sound bit silly. Almost like a flamer's blast with larger radius.

Well, if they could use the same method PR used for hip firing an MG / deployed position. Lot less accuracy and more kick on former and latter is very accurate but reduces the turning rate. and it would still take a moment to aim the MG.

Yeah, about the server. How long it's going to be up still? Finally got some friends of mine interested in this and would be bit frustrating to see the server vanish again.

« on: 01-04-2011, 17:04:30 »
before we need that, we need infantry walking speed ability for tanks

Well, if one owns a separate throttle for a joystick, they can set the speed setting on to that, enabling you to move at walking pace.
Problem on that is stopping.

I'd rather see a coded button that would work as handbrake in tanks.

What improvements i'd like to see:
Hill 331, Good map taken from CoH and adapted to this game, problem is that the play area is quite small actually. Instead could be reworked as 1km map employing only the Hill 331 map from CoH, with starting locations being identical to the ones in Coh. Also have the Hill 331 flag spawn some AT guns when captured by either side, remove one of the Tigers, replace with 2 PZ4's, add 2 75mm shermans and 1 76mm Sherman.

Could be used as 2km map as well too, would add some flags (ie crossroads would be one good option)
With extra space in the full sized 331, you could put in some more smaller houses around with ammo packs or a hidden pickup kit on a forest edge's small cabin.

Crete: Too much of the map goes unused and vehicle wise bit strong on ground level for British due to Crusader Mk1, Crusader Mk1 CS and Matilda MK2 vs PZ4D, PZ3 J Early (i think?) and PZ2. In terms of air-power Germans got an edge though thanks to the 190 vs hurricane/spitty.

Should be considered to build as a double-push map for both sides, British would be needing to capture the hill 137 on south-western side of the map, Germans having to capture the farms on eastern side before the fight would take place on 3 flags (Monastery, the Defense guns and the British rearguard). Having 5 flags to cap draws out the fighting and this would make it bit more concentrated, thanks to the rally point system you guys have.

On vehicles I would suggest to remove the 190 and Matilda, being replaced by valentine and 109.

Maybe adding a naval flag as well would be in order, to make the ships more valuable asset.

Caen outskirts (was it?): Replace one of the Sherman V's with a Cromwell and add another Churchill. Extra Stug IV for Germans. Map is quite small for aircraft so not sure are they that useful in the map. I would keep this as infantry / tank based map. The forests give nice ambush possibilities for the lighter tanks to get to the sides of panthers / tigers.

Dome of Death could be considered on some maps to prevent baserape and slight tone down on plane spawn times, which is utterly long vs tank spawn time (roughly a minute or so vs about 20 seconds for a tank? *applies only to some maps*)

These maps were the only ones that really gave me some opinions on how the maps could be better, though that is only an opinion. Final judgement is on the mappers themselves.

Then again, it would take me about 20-30min to drive to Espoo.

Is the server located in Oulu Soppa?

Last time I heard, it's somewhere on oulu / rovaniemi.

Somehow I keep crashing when map is fully loaded.. Redownloading the maps. Hopefully it was just a bad download, though both Hill 331 and 1944 breakthrough failed to load.

Oh snap... I would have hit a jackpot with my PZ4 Ausf D right there.. Pity I was unaware of that filled foxhole.
Great match on the SoT. Ideal for 128 players, nuff said.

I've been wondering about the server now, the max number of players keep getting smaller and smaller.
Just yesterday the cap was at 120, now it's at 116. Server crashes or such shouldn't affect the set player limit.
And not just on mere reserved slots, the whole limit is dropping.

Also, going to idle on the server for an hour or two if some other people want to try and populate the server.

Ah christ, just replace all tank's hull guns with drillings with limitless ammo.
We'll be seeing tao more on the hull gun then on the tank's main gun.

Say, is there TS or vent server that is commonly used by players that go to the 128 server?
Might help the coordination bit more, esp when there is no commander.

Also. Epic air battles yesterday at mareth against zykloon.
Not sure did anyone here manage to check those dogfights but few of them lasted like 5 minutes or so. (I operated the 109F4, Zyk had the VI.B)
