Pointe du hoc: german border
« on: 07-09-2009, 01:09:30 »
Its great that the axis cant move to close to the beach on PDH
But it would be nice if the map showed where the border starts as you only have 2 seconds to turn around

indeed, sadly bf2 has support for different borders for different teams, but fails to display them properly (you only see the allies border). We can ofcourse draw lines on the actual minimap texture, like on Goodwood, it was overseen before the release, apologize for that, I will whip the mapper to do it  8)

Yes I was quite surprised at first that didn't devs include ABC line for germs to prevent them killing off rangers at the beach. Then I went to check the cliffs myself and got the usual warning.

There will most likely be a drawn line on the cliffs when you look at the minimap in next version. This isnt word of God tho, but Im sure this will surface within our private forums.

you are not supposed to kill them on the beach
if you trie you die
learn from your mistakes ;)

but you are right, a warning of some kind would be appropriate

Climbing those hill is a nightmare... Some guys got over 10 kills in one shot with rifle grenade, not to mention several spots where people with MG34 can lay down and whore the allies happily..

I have yet to find my love for PDH.............Axis always won,  Being the Allies is a nightmare.

Untill i get that winchester    and the epic Rambo BAR gun!   God that thing is a Beast.

Allies have won a fair share of the rounds I played in Pointe du Hoc, I would say the map is perfectly balanced but the players are still not used to the hooks business, this will improve with training and allies will put their foot on the sauce before and win even more frecuently

The hooks are annoying sometimes and I know what I am doing with them. Last night on WOLF was classic in that sense as me and happyfunnball were stuck on a rope that was hooked to the top but impossible to exit on top of the cliff.

Even if we could have exited the rope, the Germans were there in such numbers that we wouldn't have stood a chance in hell.

It would be nice if the engineer has two incendiary grenades. Yesterday we managed to get all the way to the homestead. I sneaked to the Artillery Guns, while the rest of the squad kept Jerrie busy.
I blew up the first Artillery gun, only to realize I only have one incendiary grenade.

Milton Gault roared, "Roffey, I know bloody well that Jerry knows we are here but you don't need to advertise the fact!"

why not 4 grenades so 1 rambo guy can win the round on his own ?

think man, this was done for a reason so for 1 thing the germans dont loose the round in an instant once the guns spawns and the other thing is to encourage teamplay instead of rambos.

No two nades would be sufficient, thank you  :D. I have thought this over, don't exaggerate and assume I didn't.

There are two locations for the guns. If the Americans ever make it to the guns before the Germans or American tickets run, they have to sent two squads to the guns, the other squads defend the Farm flag and keeps harassing the Germans who spawn at Homestead.
The squad at the guns have to cover the the engineer who takes out the guns. Would it then be such a balance issue to have one guy destroy the Guns while the other cover for him.

Perhaps future play will show me that it can be done easily, but taking my current PdH exeperience I say this makes for a nice improvement.

Don't worry. You will get used to the invisible border until the next release in 2k11.

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom
