Tracers
« on: 26-03-2010, 21:03:26 »
ok, now....
My friend told me that he noticed that the tracer colour's are incorrect.
Germans should have grey tracers and the americans red ones.
Correct me if I'm wrong and don't flame me if I am  :D

The tracers ingame are correct.

However technically none of the bipod/tripod/tank mgs should have them since they gave away machine gun positions.   :-\

IIRC tracers were added as a balancing feature, especially for the otherwise far superior MG42 (when compared to other MG kits of course). Also they look nice ingame :D

Yeah, I understand that.  But with the way I am, I would rather have them removed for realism.  People should have to work to find the enemy MG.

Also tracers improve the aim of the gunner greatly. That´s why we heve to keep them.
We need to be able, to throw Thermos out of Spotterplanes.

I hardly notice then when I'm behind the gun, considering the flash blinds me from them.  :-\  The only people who notice them are the people I'm shooting at.

I'd gladly get rid of tang MG tracers. At least for the secondary mgs to avoid some trigger happy passanger give away your position.

Tracers are usefull in night combat. You can´t use your iron sights when it´s pitch black so you need to use the tracers to aim. And about giving away positions at day:
When we did combat shooting last year our group´s MG3 was also using tracers. They could be barely seen, basically only when you looked over the MG gunners shoulder. Only when we shot at night you could see them whizzing all over the place. And when you fire your gun at night tracers are one of your least problems because the enemy can see your muzzle flashes anyway.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.
