Operation Bodenplatte (map idea)
« on: 07-06-2009, 15:06:45 »
From wiki:

Unternehmen Bodenplatte (English: Operation Baseplate or Operation Ground Plate), launched on January 1, 1945, was an attempt by the Luftwaffe to cripple Allied air forces in the Low Countries of Europe during Second World War. The Germans husbanded their resources in the preceding months at the expense of the Defense of the Reich units in what was a last-ditch effort to keep up the momentum of the German Army during the stagnant stage of the Battle of the Bulge. The operation was a Pyrrhic success for the Luftwaffe as the losses suffered by the German air arm were irreplaceable. The losses of the Allied Air Forces were replaced within weeks. The operation failed to achieve air superiority, even temporarily, and the German Army continued to be exposed to air attack. Bodenplatte was the final major Luftwaffe offensive during World War II.

After having seen the documentary about this operation I think it would be a really cool air to air combat map. I really miss the large air combat maps from fh1 and fh2 doesn't have any yet so I thought I should suggest this.

What do you guys think?

FH2.2 will not extend to 1945, but its always a possibility for later releases.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. But any air map would be cool, this was just an example.

Large air maps are kinda a gray area for FH2 b/c only a select few people really enjoy spending an entire round in a plane. Those that don't will either get blown out of the sky constantly or will spend it idling in an AA gun. But who knows, we shall see.
