bf2/fh2 crash issue
« on: 02-10-2010, 21:10:14 »
hey guys, this isn't a fh2 issue per se, but a general bf2 issue, but ive looked online for different solutions and tried them and my problem still isnt solved. basically its my game crashing right at startup (bf2 and fh2). i run as admin screen goes black for a couple seconds, then just crashes back to my desktop. ive tried tweaking with my video settings in the my docs/battlefield 2 folder, tried deleting it, along with other possible fixes but nothing works. i really only have the game to play fh2 and its really pissing me off. do you guys have any suggestions for me? my only guess is its a soundcard issue, which ive read about on the net but cant really check if it is in fact it.

Hi, in order to get helpful replies it is very useful if you post your specs. Hardware, OS, etc.

OK, you already ran as admin, right?

About the soundcard: you can check to see if it is the soundcard by switching to audio supported by software in the settings. Is the soundcard giving other trouble too, I mean, not with BF/FH2?

Settings -> Audio

Then in the upper left corner it says "Audio renderer" and to its right there is a drop down menu with 3 options. The first one is "Software". Choose that one.

Try it, it might help.

I had this issue, turned out to be my vid card power was shared with 2 dvd roms...

also had a kids computer keyboard game plugged into a usb port that somehow was interfering with bf2/fh2/1942/2142  any EA game.....

Have you tried deleting the whole BF2 folder in My Documents this reverts every settings to default.
Beware you must fill in your password again to retrieve your accounts settings.

Oh OK, I thought you meant at startup of a round, not at startup of the game itself, sorry. In this case I don't know any other helpful stuff, maybe try what the other guys have posted in here?

The last thing I can offer is a full reinstall, but only try that after all else has failed.

I'm getting crashing on several maps when they load in Coop Singleplayer but mainly the new ones for Normandy. The original North Africian Desert maps seem to work fine when they load. The main problem is crashing on map changes in Coop Singleplayer when their loading.

iot charshes at start up, i cant get the actual game even running for second.

do you think i should risk deleting the reg keys for the game as well if i reinstall? because ive reinstalled the game a couple times as well.

usually an uninstaller should take care of the regfiles.

A few questions:
You are trying to play coop/SP maps? And even those that are on the working 'list' crash for you?
You deleted all files after reinstalling BF2? Even the mod folder of FH2 which doesn't uninstall with BF2?
What version of BF2 do you own? Is it a Steam/EA download or from a DVD?
Have you tried updating your sound card drivers or just disabling the sound card for a test?
