« on: 15-11-2012, 12:11:49 »
I believe it is a problem with all bolt action rifles in FH2

Do I need to apologize for taking time to find videos needed to compile that gif and for trying to make FH2 better?

This problem I am mentioning because:
1. It should be easy to fix
2. FH2 devs have attention for detail and I am sure that they will not mind me posting
3. This used to work nice in earlier versions of FH2, but only for hipstance firing
4. This is something average player will not notice, but a WWII weaponry enthusiast will appreciate a full working animation of bolt action rifles

Would be nice, though I'm unsure if it's possible or not.  If it is, would be nice to see it on all bolt actions :P

The problem is in the tech, you see it in Red Orchestra as well.

When you press the mouse button, triggering the weapon, there is also a trigger attached to the animation system which tells the game to play the firing animation. That animation is a child of another animation state which in BF2's case is the standing animation. So, when you trigger the fire animation, the game then goes back up the tree to the stand animation and then onto the next trigger, which would be the "shift" animation where he cycles the bolt.

In between, that piece in the back is bouncing back and forth and doesn't stay forward, because it is in different locations for each animation.

Thank you for your explanation, yes I noticed it being bugged in RO1 and RO2 too.

But how come it was working before?

^"Before" or "after"... That video is an animation preview... Maybe it didn't make it to the game?
This sentence is intentionally left unfinished...

I have also notified the animator trough the PM on forum. Hopefully, he will have time to look into it.

Nice use of .gif's to explain what you're talking about!

Excellent suggestion though. I've thought of that before but never went so far as to mention it on the forums. I believe that in third person view the firing mechanism for the Enfield No. 4 stays in the cocked/open position. I don't have my PC with FH loaded on it so I can't check, anyone mind looking into it?
