And, by the way, the FHT version of their battle is amazing ...  8)

If you had to pick 1 map from each theater...what would those two maps be that could sustain a dedicated 24/7 server where the rotation are the two maps?

My picks..

Mareth Line and Operation Totalize

It already seems to be the case for Totalize, so you must be a happy man.

Yeah, if it's only one map who wins in the end its quite alright.

I guess it's a bit rough putted that way, but I just would like to make sure one is not giving away the mapping process to the no-lifes. As far as I know, a good map takes time and thinking.

You can most certainly make beautifull maps in 7 days :P

its all about knowing what you are doing

And you dont learn that in seven days do you ?

I want to know if its possible to make a Map faster.

Why ?

(and I read this :

My intention of this is:
a) see how fast a good map could be done
b) see if there are any hidden Talented mapper out there
c) have some Fun :D
)

ImHo, faster made maps = unartistic and inhuman maps pumped from google earth like the mister said above. No fun at all.

I want to know if its possible to make models and theatres faster ;D. What about a speed modelling/animating/coding contest ? We give you all seven days to build up your new theatre and bring it to us ! On your mark ...

Can we have more pictures of it ?  Or is it not ok with Stephen Spielberg either ? ;D

Suggestions / Re: SL spawn-point locker
« on: 30-03-2010, 17:03:31 »
For the record, I'm kinda against this suggestion.  First of all: the only way I can think it'd be beneficial is if your squad was already playing on a higher organized level than normal public play.  In that case, you could just tell your squad mates not to spawn until you get into position, and they'd be inclined to listen.

The whole point of this idea is to increase the level of organization on a public server.

And it is not true the squad members are inclined to listen, even if they are good. They are just not used to work as a team, because on PS most of the time the squad is made of slicks and noobs in the same proportion. I wanted to take st Lambert once by sneeking into the bushes. By chance, I was only squad member at this moment. But when I arrived in town unseen and became SL, I tried to explain to the members (some of them were real aces, if I remember correctly) that I wanted us to take the three flags all at once. One spawned on me while I was writing it, he had ten time the time to read it, but he didn't, and took a flag while I was making groups. We fought hard but never captured st Lambert.

Another time, I was already squad leader in the bushes. I had told the members (once again, some of them real pros) not to spawn on me way before I was doing it. This one was hard : there were tanks, paks, and canadians all over the place (yeah, sneaky SL are cowards :P), but not impossible. So I went halfway, and everything was tough but ok. Suddenly a noob pops out of nowhere, get up, run, get shot. "Ennemy infantry spotted !" I wrote in capital not to spawn on me, while another one does the same thing. The pros, without reading, thought it was ok and joined the party. I even had to tk the first noob that had spawned on me the second time he did, because he got up right next to me. But even with the whole team on the dirt, it was hopeless. Two seconds later, a sherman shell killed me, aiming at somebody else.

(...) but the cons are that this can be widely misused (maybe not even on purpose). SLs not opening their squads anymore will become an annoyance, and when there are several, you can't open a new squad yourself anymore.

Yeah but come on man, this is the extreme case. In game, it will only happen to a very few number of (dumb) noobs, rarely, and one at a time. And like I said if you dont know how to unlock the spawnpoint, you don't know how to lock it either. So ...

Err... That line says basicly the same thing that the one I quoted.  :P

And it absolutely does not explain why you are against this idea, it just says you are.

Sneaking sometimes is effective but a game can change to a flag-run if both teams have sneaky SLs.

I'm often a SL and I don't like this idea.

Even if we put aside the fact that the whole game is a "flag-run", I realy don't see how this feature would increase the number of "sneaky" SLs... It would simply avoid that some of them get caught for no reason.

Yeah thanks aserafimov I found it  ;)

I'm afraid it wont look that good, though. This is not a map centered on Mamaev Kurgan, so don't hold your breath.
