Beware, you can fiddle with your network settings hours and easily ending in a situation worst than when you started.  My recommendation is that u find an application that will handle your network settings for u.  Those apps can analyze your traffic and network settings and optimize them.  They can also diagnose any problem and correct it. Finally, they let you rollback any changes made thru them.

I was always skeptical about this kind of software until i got one for "free" bundled with my mobo.  The app is named  "asus ROG Gamefirst II", and it shapes your network traffic by prioritize games connections over apps.  For weeks, i decided to not install the software, thinking that it just another useless "bloatware" as thousand others packaged with mobos.  At some point, I decided to giving it a try mostly because i was not satisfied by the fact that, even if my FPS was near perfect in FH2, the hit detection wasn't working as it should (and as i experienced on my friend rig with much lower specs).  The game was also "rubberbanding" and i got a strange feeling of lag like hanging in game static models.      The result is that since it's installed and running in background, i can kill someone with SMG even when i'm connected to european servers (i'm canadian), what was nearly impossible before.  I can also jump thru windows on first attempt.

Now the bad news, Gamefirst app is not free and cannot be bough retail.  Fortunately, it's only a rebranding for a tier party application called "cFosSpeed" that u can find at this address http://www.cfos.de/en/cfosspeed/cfosspeed.htm?__ntrack_pv=1.   The app is not cheap (around 15$) but you can probably find a free software alternative.   I can't assure you that it will fix your particular issue, but for me it worked far beyond my expectations, and that's why i took some of my time to share my experience.   Hope it can help you (or someone else).  BTW, I'm not linked with CfosSoftware or Asus.

Suggestions / Tunis map, remove ammo boxes
« on: 20-02-2013, 17:02:20 »
We all know the map to be a grenade festival.   This is even worst with 64+ server.  :-\

This annoyance could be decreased drastically by simply removing ammo boxes on the map, an particularly the one found in building facing (west) old mosque flag zone.  When Allies take the 3 first flags, Axis have unlimited grenades at hands ready to be thrown on city gate shock points.  This mix of shock points and unlimited grenades turn every round into a shrapnel mess, imho.

N.B. Yesterday, i posted the exact same text in the tunis feedback forum/thread. I don't think people ever consult it, so I decided to start a new thread to have your opinion on the subject.  Sry for the double post

[...] It is still beyond me how devs can increase the number of planes with bomb load on a map and not cover the most important flag besides the airfield with any kind of counterpart to the extented air supperiority. But hell, I'm just a dumb player...

I agree with shitmaker on this one, static AT & AA don't really "work" in FH2 static maps and it would be a major gameplay overhaul to simply replace them by mobile counterparts.

Would be great to make it possible to repair vehicle only when it's empty. It would make tankers fall back to safe position for repairs.

...and get his tank stolen by the first clown hanging around.   :-\

Krätzer, you're too good for them! If you will give public what they want they will come for more and you will end up making Churchill Crocodile for THeTA0123 :P

How can you be too good for your mod community?  It's a win-win situation where fans are satisfied and developer work is fully appreciated.

Have to agree with Butcher and [QPS]_Sex_Bomb here.

The problem, is that all the points he brings always return to the same thing, new suggestions are worthless because gun deflection system is broken.   Reading his posts is like listening an old broken record.

You realize, shitmaker, a lot of stuff doesn't have to be done because you enjoy it.  Other players might enjoy it, and it's rather simple to add to the game.  IIRC they even have it all skinned in normandy camo, it just needs to be placed on a map.  ::)  If you don't like it, guess, what, DON'T USE IT.

Don't be harsh with shitmaker, he know's what fh2 players want, and all others don't   ::)

General Discussion / Re: Enemy Unit Spotted!
« on: 12-02-2013, 23:02:02 »
As an easy quick fix, the irritating sound of unresolved spots (question marks on minimap) should be disabled/muted in a future release.  For resolved spots, I have no problem with the fact of being informed (sonically and visually) about the presence of an enemy (tank, sniper etc.).  This promote some kind of cooperation on the battlefield.

I think the cpu with high clock (Ghz) is the most important thing to upgrade to get smooth fps with bf2 engine.  I also had this problem, and it completely vanished with my last upgrade.  The most "choppy" maps were Goodwood and Ramelle Neuville.     FYI, I moved from a AMD Athlon II X3 455 Rana 3.3GHz to a Intel i5-3570K x4 3.4Ghz overclocked to 4.5Ghz.   I didn't upgraded the display adapter, a geforce gtx460.  Previously, my fps had some dips in the 30fps area.  Now, the game always stays at 60fps (the fps upper limit set by driver vertical sync).

Last week, I managed to kill a crusader on Mareth with this particular vehicle.  Was not easy (took 3 shots) but quite rewarding.

I can already own a server with 1 howitzer... so if you give me 3 instead, I can't really be against!  ;)

Me either! Right now arty is hard to use well.  It can't lay down an effective barage to cover advancing troops.  Also when given a target, especially a tank or something that can move, its hard to zero in on the first try, specially if the spotting isn't perfect.  This way if three rounds are falling theres a much greater chance the target will be destroyed.

More seriously, lack of skill is not really a good argument for replacing current howitzers by barrage.  I can easily zero small target on first try with misaligned target/spot on howitzers.  A bigger splash would probably help you to hit target more often, but for a guy like me, it will be overpowered.

Suggestions / Re: disabling 3rd person view of planes
« on: 08-01-2013, 18:01:25 »
i think flying is piece of cake, move mouse to up right left... important one is aiming and bombing succesfully and waiting line is crazy on airfield last night in 128 siege of tobruk there were 12 person on airfield you believe this 12!! how many people wait in tank line 1? 2? i just think flying must be more hard and demanding

Your wrong about tanks.  The waiting line increase for all assets as player number increase.   Worst, some assets don't change hand for the entire map duration (ex: main base artillery).  This argument about newbie flyboys is ridiculous imho.

Suggestions / Re: Changing most static positions to mobile
« on: 07-01-2013, 19:01:01 »
Kind of a vague suggestion but I'm hoping in future patches we can see a greater importance put on mobile artillery (artillery here meaning AA guns, AT guns, etc).

+1

Replaying the same maps against the same static positions is way too easy for attackers and particularly, for planes.  Mobile guns should be favored over static ones in future map development.
