Title: Mouse Jittering/Stuttering problem while aiming down sight.
Post by: spudbrain on 10-10-2016, 23:10:44
I'm having an issue with aiming down the sight while playing infantry where I will move my mouse and the view will move normally but once I stop moving it will jitter in the same direction and try to mirror my movements. This problem is only in multiplayer and on the only populated server I get around 110 to 160 ping, I'm on west coast. I spoke with another player and they said that with 160 ping it shouldn't be a noticeable problem, but as you can see in the video hipfire is fine but aiming down sight is quite severe and actually unplayable.

Guess it is ping related.

After hosting my own game and having my friend join he said he had the problem too, but he only was getting 60-80 ping. So I guess that rules out ping, could it be an issue with a config file? Reinstall maybe?

Having low ping doesn't always mean your internet connection is smoother. ;)

What is your connection setup, hardwire or wifi?

Both mine and my friends PCs are connected straight to the router with an ethernet cable.

If its not a PING problem then a lot of things can cause this

Check

Some tips
No other USB devices on same USB bus as mouse. try unplug what is not needed. try mouse inn other usb ports
Check Enhance pointer precision is unticked in mouse properties in windows control panel
Select No scaling in gfx control panel

In some maps with a lot of buildings and/or when a lot of players +70 are squezzed into tight combat area.
I can sometimes have a little stutter when < 80fps  But not a big problem for me :-)

Had another friend hop on also and they had the same mouse lag problem, all three of us while aiming down sight. Also it's probably important to point out that I am the one hosting, so this problem could be entirely on my end. I will try the fixes in those threads thanks duderino, but any specific ones you could point me to?

Its probably important to point out, I dont believe it's USB issues seeing as when I connect to his server (We use hamachi) I am the only one who has the problem. When I play in single player or host a local game, I have no issues with the mouse whatsoever

Just got on vanilla BF2 and I'm having the same issue on a US West server with 60 ping, it's still just as severe. But as I said, Project Reality is completely fine. Does that mod have a different way of dealing with mouse movement through the network?

Is ping the same when playing project reality and are in game settings the same ?
Is FPS in project reality higher than Fh2 ?
Is project reality utilizing less Ram than FH2 when gaming ?

In my opinion Win 10 = worst mouse feeling
Win 7 better and Win XP the best

If you are on win 8 or 10 try run CMD as administartor an type
Quote
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
bcdedit /set useplatformclock true

Reboot PC

If its not making any difference. change back setting in cmd as admin

Quote
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick no
bcdedit /set useplatformclock false

If "bcdedit /set useplatformclock false" not working.Try "bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock"

Reboot PC

Hope that hepls :-)

Found the problem, it was a tweak that I used in order to increase my FOV (Field Of View) by editing Objects_server.zip\soldiers\common\SoldierCamera.tweak found here:
http://www.moddb.com/tutorials/bf2bf2142-field-of-view-modding-tutorial
Is there any other way of changing my FOV without affecting my mouse movement? Because it is really difficult for me to play on the default FOV that is quite low due to feeling nauseous from it.

is FOV different in PR?

In the animation's camera, yes. I haven't checked the differences between "soldiercamera.tweak" yet though.

So now that I've ruled it out, is there any other way to change my FOV without making my mouse not work correctly? Because the default fov is like looking through a sniper scope.

As far as I understand it, no. It is not possible without some modding, and any client side modding will prevent you from playing online.

I've had a look through the PR mod folder before and there is no objects_server.zip in that folder

in 16:9 I have recently been trying out ObjectTemplate.worldFOV 1.25 and ObjectTemplate.insideFOV 1 (default) when running game settings on high
Game experience seems a bit more fluid I think
On low game settings I find 1.25 not good or wrong when turning around
Would be nice if Fh2 launcher settings had a FOV slider like modern games
