Usually, regular or seasoned FH players will group up. There are a handful of players who are always willing to make a squad and invite non-grouped players that they recognize.
I don't really need to mention clans because they're almost always grouped. The only ones that hurt teamplay are the ones that have two players in their squad and lock it. But hey, happens.
Unfortunately, new players tend to think of FH as vanilla Battlefield 2 were grouping isn't necessary to do well. Grouping isn't even a consideration to them. When they go off on their own, get killed repeatedly and ragequit they never, or hardly ever, come back to the mod. Case in point; the popular servers tonight filled with the 'regular' players were full so I joined a relatively low populated game on a server I've never heard of before. I decided to stick with one or two players who I recognized as seasoned players who were trying to cap the same flags/move forward in the same direction as me for two rounds, generally keeping each other out of harms way and chipping in when needed. So we're doing well, my score is decent, and the next thing I know I get 10+ vote kick attempts on me from six different players I've never seen before attempting to boot me off the server. Two never spawned and were on my team, so I suspect they were keeping tabs on me. I wasn't cheating, spawncamping or anything considered 'wrong'... just keeping next to other players and not trying to be on my own. I wasn't necessarily always in a squad, but I stuck with other players. And we did well. The opposite team had players that did well and you could recognize that they were sticking together (whilst not necessarily grouped) and putting up the best resistance. Those that were new and trying to vBF2 were putting the votes in.
I tend to find that you don't need to be in a squad/grouped in FH to do well/kill/complete objectives as long as you go with the general 'flow' of the game and follow the other players. Those that don't bugger off on their own and get completely overwhelmed do well. Those that do get annoyed and leave.
Sticking together (again - not necessarily grouping, just staying by your team-mates) is essential in FH2. It was essential in FH1. Unfortunately, a handful of players will never do this. And they're the ones that get pissed off at the mod and bugger off... I don't see the point in chasing them and trying to get them to stick together. Some players have a mental block.
TLDR version; you'll never be able to get some people to work together, besides the ones that already do - and those players are most often regulars.
