Crash problem.
« on: 07-07-2010, 16:07:08 »
Ok, this is my current problem.

BF2/FH2 does not start. When the FH2.exe has been pressed, the screen goes black (as usual) but then it returns to desktop with that "FH2 has crashed bla bla".

I have a theory, but I would like to share it with you guys.
My 24" -monitor died yesterday and now I am using a 19" -monitor.
Is it possible that the cause of the crash is because BF2 display settings (resolution ect) is set for the 24" -monitor? If so, what should I do? Reinstal BF2?

Thank you.

No don't reinstall BF2. Solution in 5 minutes.

Goto ..\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 (Assuming you have one profile)

In the video.con (open it with notepad) change this line:

VideoSettings.setResolution ..... your resolution here ....   to
VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

Save the file and start BF2.
From the ingame menu choose you monitor resolution

Also change the video.con in the Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default if that doesn't work.

And if that does not work just delete all profile folders, but does means you have to set you controls again.
To be on the safe side copy all your profiles to a temporay location.

If you do this make sure you know your username and password for BF2 account.
The profiles will be recreated during startup of the game.

Well the first one did not work on its own. However, when I put the same resolution setting on my profile to that Profiles\Default\video.con, it worked instantly. So I think that its either the second option, or both options combined.
