Off-Topic / Motherboards, and other comp stuff

Well I had once posted that I was planning to upgrade my PC, and I was originally going to try out something Intel related, but the price was killing me so I went back to the very competent AMD. I don't have the largest budget, but I am planning to get a Phenom II X6 1055T processor, but I need some other parts that I haven't decided(Graphics card, HDD, RAM), but mainly a motherboard (the other stuff I at least have an idea), but suggestions on those are also welcome. I am trying to build something cheap that can multitask with games and work, mostly for school. I already have a case, and a DVD drive I plan to use, but the rest of the stuff is not yet owned/decided upon.

So if anyone can help me with my decisions, that would be great. If I forgot to mention something (doing this late at night so I may have forgotten something) please ask. Oh, and my budget is roughly $550-$650, or €400-€500.

Since we no longer have Warriors quote page, (didn't like the IRC quotes that it was filled with anyway) I have decided to make a historical quote page.

Rules:

1. No IRC quotes. Only historical

2. No quotes that could cause offense, and if one does, it should be removed.

3. No random spam/Warrior like behavior.

Off-Topic / Need Some help German speakers!

I am working on a project for German class, and I need to know a couple things. ( I would use the translator but you know how that works) Anyway, I need to know how to say: To get there from _______________, follow these directions, or something of the sort. I also need to know how to say turn left on ___________ street ( I think its Biegen Sie rechts in der ___________.)

Suggestions / Naval Combat: A possible way for it to work well

Preface- As we all know naval combat is a letdown in the BF2 engine, and needs vast improvement. There are problems such as dieing when the ship moves, and difficulty getting to a gunner position because of the movement of the boat. I have a potential fix for this that I believe has not been suggested.

1. - Make carriers (not all ships) static

2. - Like Tanks/APC's, if you spawn on the ship, you are instantly in a position.

3. - You cannot leave position on ship unless ship is destroyed or you bail(E) (bailing puts you in water)

4. - Pressing E next to ship gets you in if spot are available (Usually you will spawn in however)

Conclusion- So that's my possible solution to the lack of naval battles in FH2. I would like to have the opinions of all, especially the devs. Please keep comments sensible, so Flippy doesn't begin cutting of heads again.

Off-Topic / A little help with a mod please (No this is not BF2 related)

I'm making a mod for a game called Freespace 2. I need a little bit of help with logos that are going to be put on the fighters in the mod. My main problem is that I don't know what every nations most well known military insignia is. was hoping that since many of the people here are from places other than the U.S., you guys can help me by giving me images of military insignias. These can come from any country, so no need to ask.

Off-Topic / Speeding up FH2

I've noticed that some people are having problems running FH2 smoothly, and I also can have problems. I have made this thread for everyone to help each other out, and share anyway they know how. I have a few tricks to speed up FH2, and I hope with the combined efforts of all on the forum, we can get everyone running up to speed.

My suggestions are as follows: Before getting into FH2, use a program like smart close to close all of your invisible programs.(don't worry, it will not get rid of necessary functions like virus protection. Also, after getting in the game, go to the task manager, go to processes, find BF2.exe, and right click and set affinity to one core, because BF2 doesn't multithread, making it run slower trying to use 2 cores.

Note: Make sure to post what OS your suggestion works on. Mine is WinXP

I was just wondering if anyone knew any info about the Turkish genocide against the Armenians in the nation. Why you ask? Well, it was mentioned in a book I read and briefly mentioned in history class, and I wanted to know more about, and this community is generally pretty knowledgeable on these things, and I also know there are a few Turks on this forum. I hope I don't offend anyone by asking this, but I was just curious about what had happened at that particular time.

Well I plan to save my money and buy parts to build a new pc. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on different parts I should consider. Note: I am on a budget

Here are my current choices

CPU: Intel i5-750
RAM: 4gigs of DDR3-1333
Video/Graphics card: not sure yet leaning towards ATI 4870 or GTX 260
HDD: Caviar Black 1TB SATA
Sound Card: not sure, may just keep the one I have
Motherboard: GA P-55 UD4P ATI&SLI+Crosfire
Cooler: Hyper 212+ Universal CPU Cooler Socket LGA1366/1156/775/AM3/AM2/940/939
Optical Drive: going to keep this one probably, unless I really need to change
OS: Maybe windows 7 Ultimate (Might as well get all the features)
Case: I have no idea
PSU: Maybe a Corsair 750watt

Now this is just a small suggestion but is there a possible way to make sticky bombs occasionally stick to your hand and you're not able to throw it? I heard it happened in real life so I thought it would be an interesting thing to add in.
