Player VS Player interaction doesn't work like that... you shoot at someone 125m away in FH2 with these dark maps and BF2 foV, you don't see with your eyes if you hit him or not... you might not even see if you killed him.  :-\

You make it sound like a bad thing that you don't always get a 100% certainty if you hit the enemy or not.

I would really like to know what it is you think would be more fun if you didn't know if you hit or killed the enemy  :)

People get "kicks" from different things. Some consider it fun when there is no overlay indication if they hit or even killed the enemy. The immersion that the uncertainty brings with it is fun for others.
Some others might need a huge red flashing "+100 points for Triple Headshot" title in the middle of the screen after each hit.

FH2 is not 1s1k every time you shoot... as Ts4Ever pointed out

No one actually said that FH2 is _only_ 1s1k if you guys paid attention but that it is _mostly_ it, so that got me wondering why there is this hit cross feature by default. It feels totally redundant from someone moving to FH2 from other game engines.

naah, it is basic feedback on one of the core actions the player does in the game, shoot  :). it's a first person shooter, the action is so fundamental it's even in the name of the genre  :D...
 ofcourse the player should receive feedback on this... it's like not giving a player of a racing game feedback on if he drives well. 8)

I haven't come across with such a function in other FPS games yet, ergo --> BF feature, i take?
Other games usually handle this with blood/hit splashes, shouts of agony and other sounds etc...
Have you played any other FPS games by any chance?

+ u totally skipped the part where i said that FH2 is mostly 1 shot 1 kill afaik, and u already get a death message so why the redundant cross thingy on top of that...?

Because it is a basic feedback mechanic that players need to know if they hit or not.

I guess it is some basic BF2 remnant where it takes one mag to kill someone? Anyhow, seems a bit redundant in a WW2 shooter where almost all weapons are 1-shot 1-kill. Immersive mode took care of this for me btw.

I take the ATT + vsync back. Seems to CTD 99% time when i launch BF2.

Didn't notice any difference with the Desktop composition thingy. Ramelle still gives quite low fps in some part of the city.

Immersive mode took away a lot of the c*ap from the screen, thanks for the tip. Although it took away some info that i need to know sometimes e.g. magazine count. Is there a way to check that when playing immersive mode?

1) There isnt a vsync option in the video options of the game, last time i checked. I am looking for a working win7 config line type solution.
Sorry, I was wrong. I used the ATI CC to disable it.

I take u mean enable vsync. Anyway, when no one gave any tips for config file tweak about this, i used ati tray tool to enable it. I just try to minimize stuff to run but if this the only way to enable vsync, well then...



10) Can you spawnblock enemy? So if u are in the cap zone where they should spawn, does it block it so that they have to choose a spawn point that is a bit further away?

11) Sometimes when i run it seems that the rifle cant decide what to do and keep "shaking" a bit. Normal feature or a bug?

12) FH2 doesnt like OC'ed Cpus? It feels a bit more stuttery when i software oc my cpu.

13) Tank driver is the commander at the same time? So there is no driver window i take?

14) when i load a diff. shell for the tank, do i have to shoot the previous away from the barrel before it changes that ammo type? I got a bit confused how this worked when trying it in SP.

haha who would play a FPS game that doesn't tell you who killed you, or who you killed?  It would be like playing against bots. ;D

Quite many actually. RnL doesnt show you if u hit/killed the enemy --> more immersive gameplay when you actually have to check if the enemy is dead. Although in RnL u can see who killed you from console. RnL as well lacks the scoreboard, so only thing that matters is the round win.

In Darkest Hour there are some servers which don't show death messages either.
No death messages in general makes the gameplay a bit slower cos you first have to make sure the enemy is dead before u can advance.

Anyway, why is there a hit cross even in this mod?

6) I had some FPS drops in the Ramelle map's city part and I was wondering is it the map itself or am I just running too old rig for this game to be run as everything high:
e6750, hd4850, 4gigs ram, win7

7) is there a practice map, like a shooting range for testing the ballistics for tanks and rifles?

8) how come no one used the VOIP ingame? Does it suck or is everyone using some mumble type solution like in PR?

I am totally new to FH2 scene, and i didnt even know that tanks are basically 1-man job in this mod.

In DH (RO mod) tanks can have up to 3 ppl and in combined arms maps it is really worth to have every position manned. Though as always, the communication sucks in RO/DH/MN because the VOIP is really bad. But 3 buddies in same tank + mumble = win.
In DH tank maps (where ca. 80% of the players use tanks, and rest inf. roles) it is quite common to just have 1 man per tank cos 2 tanks is always better than 1 tank with 2 ppl in it. Although this depends a bit on which side u play and what, King Tiger is so slow that it is more effective with 2 players. Btw, RO tanking = ping pong tanking but can still be fun and effective with 2 players as seen here:

But a third party voice comm is must.

About the less hud:

And cos of the 3D voice system the gameplay is really immersive. It is not the best mod/game out there but trying it out might give u ideas how to implement stuff.

Imo less stuff in the screen = better.
Crosshair is the first to go.

5) Not sure about this either... Steam BF2 + FH2 is not that hard to get to work, though. Here's a guide: http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=11781.0

When you have 9-point list of things to do to get a mod working in steam, u can pretty much expect that half the ppl are not even gonna bother :)
Anyway, that list was not enough for me to get FH2 MP working. On top of that i got invalid cd-key stuff.

1. I have no problems acivating vsync ingame with my ati 57xx card, but then it starts lagging in game with smoke around
5. never heard of a student version.. but the code you got from steam should be the code you need for your BF2 multiplayer account

I am running FH2 with a BF2 version from the steam.

1) Is there some easy way to get vsync on with windows 7 and hd4850? And I mean some config file line type of thingy. So far i've tried some stuff that i found from interweb though without luck.

2) Is there a way to make FH2 launch with 1-click from steam, or a batch that launches it from outside steam?

3) Is there bullet ballistics in this mod? So do i have to aim a bit high and lead targets that are far away and moving?

4) Is there a way to enable steam overlay without getting trouble from PB?

5) Can I just install "student" version of the BF2 and use the cd-key from steam cos Steam + bf2 = grey hair
Or is that cd-key some steam only whatnot code...?

I bought bf2 from the steam sale few days ago so that i could play fh2.

It was a nightmare to get FH2 working with multiplayer in steam. Seriously. I had it all too, shader problems, punkbuster, invalid cd-key and what not.

These kind of shenanigans will keep the player amount low for sure. Not everyone have the tenacity to search forums for hours end to get a 5 euro game to work without a hassle.

This mod should be implemented to steamworks and it should work with 1-click from steam library without any trickery and IT-witchcraft etc...
