RIP :'( :(
-
Those are very sad news indeed and I also want to offer my condolences.
I had already heard about his sincere illness back in the days of FH1 and I was sometimes wondering what had happened to him while driving a bear-tank or the Kingtiger.
I still remember the evening when ArminAce presented FH 0.65 on GIGA television and introduced the Kingtiger on Alpenfestung: "And here a gigantic skin from RAD - the Kingtiger" and the moderator commented it had the visual qualities of the brand new Battlefield Vietnam (which had introduced normal mapping) even if FH was still based on the old engine.
RAD :'(
-
See you later, Rad. and RIP. You'll be missed.
-
May there be a PC with FH for you in the afterlife :)
-
And may that FH have a Maus. ;)

Very tragic Indeed, was he in the 101st Airborne Clan? :'(
Because I was on there a few days ago, playing by someone by the Name of Radman, from the 101st, who said he was from the forums.
He was a great guy, a pleasure to game with. If this is the same guy.. it's kind of eerie, like real combat... one minute he's there fighting beside you, the next, he's gone.

I doubt that was him.

I doubt that was him.
Yea, that was a different person.

I doubt that was him.
Yea, that was a different person.
Oh, alright, he was still a pleasure to game with. :)

We'll miss you Rad...
-
I'm sorry if I invoke some likeness or that I wear the name, but nope, it wasn't me.
My name is Radman but I took it from my moms last name, maiden name.
I'm sorry for the loss, haven't met him, wasn't around when he was in action.
Condolances 2 the family, I know what they're going through.
-
Great idea to dedicate a newspost to him.
This way, many people who dont visit the forums, but website once a week, will also know about this
Farewell Rad. But you wont be forgotten! I shall drive the Panzer III,Tractor, KT and the Teddy M10 Wolverine in your honor tonight

Incredible sad news... :(
R.I.P. Rad and condolences to the family.
-
My condolences
-
Always sad to read something like this. My condolences to your family and may you R.I.P
I have always specially admired the King Tiger, it was one of those things that made me admire what the FH-team could do with such an old graphics engine.
And I remember the work he did in the earlier days of FH2.
I salute you Rad!
-
one week you are chatting with someone in IRC next week he is dead.
great loss for the mod community and FH2
but of course also for his family and friends. my condolences to them.
what is not listed in the "what he did" department is the british africa player model which also acts as basis for all UK,canada, aussie & new zeeland player models.
(for me) without any doubt the best looking player model in the whole battlefield world.

-
I feel so sad! :'(
Condolences to all his family!
-
Aww man, that's sad. I mean we all knew Rad, loved his work and could tell he had a sense of humour. I remember that while back when he first announced he'd be taking a break, I personally never knew he was that ill.
Forgive me if I seem nosey, and stop me if I am, but what was it that Rad passed away from? The news page also mentions hard economic times, did he also have difficulty getting the help he needed for his condition?
This is really bothering me today. To see a face put to a name makes it really hit the heart strings, god bless him may he rest in peace and my condolences go out to his family and friends, what a shame.
P.S. Rad made the best models I think I've seen in a game, amazing talent.
-
Requiescat in pace.
Forgive me if I seem nosey, and stop me if I am, but what was it that Rad passed away from?
See his sister's thread just below this one.
-
Rust Zacht Rad.
My condolence to the family friends and people who loved Rad.
I hurts me even more that things could have go different on some parts,
but the thought of him loving modding so much, especially FH, makes me me very happy.
Terrible terrible news.. :(
-
Rad, never to be forgotten,
His spirits lives on in Forgotten Hope,
May you rest in peace.
-
Rust in vrede.
-
R.I.P :(
-
Salute Rad!
I must say, Rads playermodels for normandy looks better than the ones we have...
-
Probably because they are very high poly, you could never bring them ingame like this. And the uniform colour is wrong ;) but still, great models.
-
I am quite certain he made them for North-Africa, I think these playermodels where meant to be in the Torch part we never got :P
-
Panzerchick and teddy...he slept in the couch when his wife watched this pic.
-
Lol Lobo,
i was thinking he might have gotten some flak from the missus with some of those pics.
God rest his soul, and may his legacy of work inspire others to follow in his footsteps.
-
This was a bit of a shock.. recently Rad was seen in irc every now and then, so I had no idea he was having medical problems again :(
My condolences to the family
-
Rest in peace Rad.
My condolences to the family.
-
Mes condoléances à toute sa famille.
Rest in Peace Rad
-
Rad, you will never be alone.
-
R.I.P Rad :( :'(
-
This is very sad news for me and all of us.
Very few people know of the daily struggle of something that will eventually kill you and yet remain in good spirits, refusing to let it take you down.
All of the devs comments are good becasue they knew him best as we in the forums could only know him virtually but he always struck me as one who was neither a loser nor a victim.
Rad's courage, to this day, is awe inspiring, even more than his work in FH and I am glad I know of him even at arm's lenth.
Fare thee well Rad.
-
Very sad news indeed. I haven't seen a post from RAD in long time, but still, I will miss him.
He was, by far my, favorite dev to see a post from back in the day. Not only because he was the dev most likely to break ranks and spill cool stuff, but because of the humor and the pure enjoyment he took in modding which came through in his posts.
He only touched a tiny part of my life, but the part he did touch, he made better.
-
The panzerchick is my wallpaper now. RIP, Rad.
-
We´ll meet again Rad,
RIP
-
:'(

Damn...
I logged in today and went straight to OT... I saw all the bears in signatures... I knew just from that sight.
I was actually recently thinking about asking for an update on his status, but I really didnt think it was my place. If its not too much trouble, I was thinking someone might be able to post up a proper tribute to him, the man?
Has anyone set up a memorial fund to benefit the family? I'd be happy to donate.
Damn again, must have been 4 years there eh?
**edit, just found it:
http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=5584.0
Still no paypal donations? Ive played this game for probably whole months of my life over the last 6 years. Ive never paid a dime.
-
Sad news :( RIP Rad.
-
R.I.P. Rad
-
May your Work and Dedication serve as inspiration for Future Modders, it will for me.
-
Hello all, some of you probably remember me from FF. I've been playing since .5E, and I joined FF for the Forgotten Hope Forums. By the time you switched to warumdarum I had retreated to mostly lurking and didn't create an account until today, when I saw the announcement.
Many times I checked for updates and was blown away by one of Rad's works. I remember seeing the Panzer III and thinking it was the greatest model I ever saw. I remember going prone next to trucks to look at the incredible wheels. In my opinion, Rad wasn't just a great modeler and skinner, but the best in the entire team (and likely innumerable other freelance and professional teams).
Here's goodbye to a great, rare talent.
Edit: I'd also like to add that I really loved FH Adak with its unusual setting. I didn't know who made it.
-
The hslan online gaming clan speaks to his family its deepest condolence. :'(
Jim do it well we see ourselves on the battlefield. :'(

Just went onto the main page and saw this now. R.I.P. Rad, you are a legend among FHers.
-
Like Stylie, I saw the bears in sigs and feared the worst.
Rest in peace, Rad. You were, on so many levels, the kind of guy who makes FH what it is. The tractor, the Panzer III (after so long, it was more than worth it) and of course, your teddy bear were all the perfect combination of detail, humour and respect that personified you and FH as a whole. Though I never met or knew you personally, judging by those traits alone you were a great, great man. I agree, Johannes - a legend has passed.
-
Rest In Peace Rad.
I dont know what to say, but i will miss your creations and your input who made FH what it is.
My condolence goes out to his family and of cours to the FH dev team and all devoted players.

-
My god..
I decided to go through all the FH2 models to see how many Rad was involved with.
I couldn't do it. I got to 19 and burst into tears.
And I never knew the guy.
My condolences.
-
I feel very sorry and heart broken to hear the sad news :'(
I never expected this would happen all of a sudden.
The man was an inspiration and a great loving dad with a good sense of humour, something that money can't even buy.
I'm not big with words but I would like to say a tremendously huge thank you for all the amazing work you have done, your legendary talents and efforts has helped to shape and form the name "Forgotten Hope" into a successful leading WWII mod that will shine for many years to come and beyond.
Even though I have never met him in real-life I will always respect him as a dear friend and I give him my sincere warmest sympathies.
I also give my deepest condolences to his family.
Rest In Peace Rad and farewell to a good buddy.
I will truely miss you!
-
Really sad to hear about this. It's funny how someone who we never knew in real life could still have such an impact on our lives!
RIP Rad ... hopefully there's modding up there buddy!
-
These are very sad news for the FH community. Since the moment I knew of his ilness about 2 or 3 years ago I've always hoped his health would improve, but not everything goes how we'd like to. :(
RIP Rad
-
:'( We will miss you.

:'( , I have always appreciated Rads work, he made one of the nicest Panzer III models (my favorite tank) I have ever seen. My condolences to his family. Rad, not gone, merely marching far away.
Thanks,

That's sad to hear. most of the things i liked the most seemed to be created by him.
I feel bad for his family.
Rest in peace man,
You will be missed!!!
-
It's a great loss for all the modding community, his work was really amazing. My condolences to his family. R.I.P Rad
-
RIP Rad. I played FH1 religously and recently came to FH2. I wish him the best wherever he is now.
-
Shit just passing through the forums and this comes? Poor guy, rest in pieces.
-
Damn it. I didn't expect this... I feared for it... just came back from my holiday last week. I... am speechless. :( It cannot be. :(
My most sincere condolences to his family and friends.
:( He was a nice guy, didn't spoke to him often as he had a busy and hectic life but... he was a good man. AAnd all the humoristic stuff he added is sufficient proof of his fun character. Damn it. Hell be missed. He really did a lot for the mod and... just... *shakes head and looks down to the ground with a sad face* You will be missed Jim!
-
I didn't know Rad but I feel as a thank you for what he has done to the game and as a rest in peace/ respects to him I should add the bear to my signature. My sympathy goes to his family. I hope the bear worked on my signature.
P.S: if anything sounds rude/disrespectful its not meant to.

almost it needs to be (http://thelinktoradsbear) you forgot the /

I am still new to forgotten hopes 2, but when i saw some of the vehicles he has skinned, i was stunned, the Battlefield 2 creators have no such talent!, again sad to hear about this, my condolences to his family. :'(
(hope the bear worked!)
-
Woww... couldn't believe it when i read it.
Sad to see Rad has passed away :(
RIP
-
RIP, indeed.
But I honestly have to say I never really got into who exactly made what for FH, and would really like to see some of his work now. Is there maybe a list of vehicles he skinned, or a picture gallery of his models? I basically only know he made Adak Island, and I loved that map.
-
@ mud buddah
you did take a look at the news update ?
there is pretty much everything listed he did
besides the tommy player model, somehow people forgot the did that one too
most noteable he did the panzer III (for bf42), the king tiger (for bf42), british player model for FH2, created the open/close top on willy jeep, also the red tractor of doom, the teddy etc etc ..
german bf-games.de page ahs a little more pictures than fhmod.org news page
http://www.bf-games.net/readnews/9625/forgotten_hope_tribute_to_jim_rogers.html
-
Thanks man.
I did check out the news update yesterday, but only saw the (beautiful) Beaufighter screencap. Only just now I noticed the collage in the middle of Lobo's post. I have a relatively small monitor and am so used to google adds that it didn't even register.
Will check the other page as well.
-
Stupid question, how small it is? I mean i am working with a 15,4 inch monitor and i saw it just fine.
-
aaw this is really bad news!
rest in piece Rad.
-
We had an incident like this on another forum. Its always a hard blow to lose, for ever, a member of the community. We never managed to find out how did he pass away, he was simply found dead.
RIP, you will surely be missed. :(
-
Rest in Peace, Rad.
-
Been away from the forum/mod a while. Sad to come back to hear this. Rest in peace, friend; your work here is done.
-
:(RIP

Oh man! :-[ (RIP)
-
Rest in peace, Rad. We will miss you very much. :(
-
Huh, looks like I was absent for too long... :o
Rad, too bad you aren't able to see your tribute video (or maybe you are, who knows...). I can tell you that you were surrounded by warm and decent people, who really respected you and your work.
I was crying and laughing at the same time while watching the video. I personally think that this is one of the best tributes ever - nothing can beat a careless jeep race (reminds me of times when me and some friends of mine were playing FH1 doing illogical and goofy things just for the fun of it).
Well, Rad, fare thee well and may you rest in peace. *salute*
-
Hmm didn't read whole topic but did others notice Finnish equipment that is added? Yeah I know they add tons of stuff that isn't used instantly but holy moly I wish they would do it
-
wrong news post.
