It's like a 300 page children's book..

The Hobbit is children's book in same way that the Harry Potter -series is. It starts as a children's book but in the end comes the death, horror, destruction and everyone dies

They did it with the LoTR book, hell, i think they should have made it a 4 movie deal with all the complete chapters that they left out.

But then again, they still could make a movie of frodo coming back to the shire i think.

Of course it is more concise and has more epic battles and yet doesn't lose it's narrative as easily.

I trust Peter Jackson. The Hobbit overall has so many elements that don't really work in the movie format.

As an (interesting) aside: I've just started reading The Fellowship of the Ring and one of the many forwards/prologues in the book says that the complete book is The Lord of the Rings and it was split into three parts (Fellowship, Two Towers and Return) for publication so it's not actually a trilogy at all...

Its confirmed.  The Hobbit will be showcased in 3 movie parts.

That means alot of character/world development story wise.

Fantastic! PJ delivers once again in the Tolkien world.

PS: yes... im a surfer dude/tolkien nerd since i read the hobbit 15 years ago....
