I don't think they cared for common or not back then. You could shoot people with it, that did the trick. I wouldn't care where my gun came from either  :-X

No Vera Lynn? Me sad!

Glad to see the Italian resistance in the North being mentioned! (It's usually North = Fascist)

A lot of my family were strongly opposed to the Fascist movements in Italy (they were based right on the swiss border near Tirano, Italy.  They constantly hid in the mountains and gave priority to my Nonno's youngest brother who they did not want to fight (My Nonno and 3 of his brothers joined the co-belligerent forced post 1943 and he was the only one to return from the war after having being set free by the Germans from a POW camp when news filtered through that the Russians were coming)

After the war they helped clean up and gaurded the swiss border in case any of the remaining German forces tried to flee.

Great albums - they keep getting better and better

I'm taking my own freedom
puttin' it in my song
singing loud and strong
proving all day long
I'm takin' my freedom
puttin' it in my stroll
I'll be hop-steppin' y'all
lettin' the joy unfold

The Holocaust set is very sobering. I think it had a particular impact for me as you don't usually see that many photos of things to do with the Holocaust or its effects on people all in one place. To see all those people all over the Reich really brought home to me the scale of the operation.

Thanks once more, I use a lot of these pictures in my lessons/lectures now. :)

One tiny drawback is that sometimes they state stuff inaccurately, but since I only need the pics it is OK.

Necro Bump?

Many have probably already seen it but I saw this posted on the PR forums; I searched but didn't see anything here.
http://www.theatlantic.com/static/infocus/wwi/introduction/
http://www.theatlantic.com/static/infocus/wwi/westernfront1/

Didn't know if I should make a new thread but I see no harm in bumping something with a link to amazing photos. :) kinda the same thing they did with WW2 now with WW1. New photos every week till the end of June.
