General Discussion / Re: Dedicated Server Questions
« on: 27-03-2016, 17:03:42 »
Fixed, but I won't be hosting FH2 because it doesn't allow me to map the same direction keys for Infantry (Common) and Land in the controls.

I don't have this issue with vanilla.

General Discussion / Dedicated Server Questions
« on: 26-03-2016, 21:03:57 »
I'm hosting a dedicated server on my network. The server shows up in multiplayer servers but the ping is listed as 2500 and under "Server Info" in the window to the right, there are no values for any of the settings (all zero). I can connect fine and have a zero ping.

If I go to "Local" servers, my ping indicates a normal (for external servers) ping, about 42. The info then shows up for the server.

The server is being allowed through the firewall and I've even tried turning it off completely. I have forwarded port 16567 (both). It seems like this is a port issue because there is no problem connecting and playing, but I don't want everyone seeing "2500" ping because nobody would even try to connect.

Ideas?

FH 0.7 Help / Support / Re: Is BF42 still downloadable?

It can still (at the time of this post) be downloaded free on EA's website:

I posted about this some months ago. If anyone knows how to make a co-op server work, please let me know. The executable crashes as soon as the server is launched. I tried a different objects.rfa in the server, as per one user's suggestion, and it will run, but objects in maps are missing, such as bridges.

Try this https://yadi.sk/d/rhI7PKqpEgPtu
Replace your server's FH objects.rfa with the one in archive
This seems to allow the server to run, but it makes objects in the maps disappear.

FH 0.7 Help / Support / Re: No more FH0.7 servers ?

Probably no servers now because the mod's dedicated server does not work. It crashes on launching. This may have something to do with the latest patches that were made in order to allow BF1942 to work without keys, the master server change, etc.

It's too bad because I have a pro-hosted VPS and wanted to run this mmod.

No, compatibility doesn't help.

FH 0.7 Help / Support / Server Crashes on Startup
« on: 01-06-2015, 02:06:07 »
I have a server on a pro-hosting site running Windows Server 2008 R2. I have all the latest server patches so both Origin and Retail clients can join. BF1942 vanilla works fine, as does Battlegroup42 and Desert Combat.

When I try FH, the server crashes almost instantly. I have tried with and without compatibility mode.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but I had the problem of trying to install the 3-part full installer to the free Origin version. It will not install because it think's it's an older version. I remedied this by installing the original retail CD version (I have several copies) and then installed the FH mod. I then just copied the folder over to my free Origin version and it works like a champ.

I RARed this into a self-extracting file that just needs to be placed into the Battlefield 1942 root folder and executed. I have uploaded this to my Google Drive in case anyone wants the link.

Have same problem so created the previus topic.Origin version work with the old install(1,2,3 part of FH) only if you unpack folder 1 in 2 and so on in your  "x/bf1942/mod" (where x mean your partiton) and it should work.If you dont know how to do it google it or find the full install version of FH(if you find it could you give it to me?;) need it dont have time to download everything).Hope it works, Cya!
I do have the three separate files but it uses an installer and apparently checks the BF1942 version you have installed and thinks it's old, so it won't install. We need just the raw files so we can install them manually. It doesn't take a brain surgeon after all.

Is FH not compatible with the BF1942 free Origin version? I tied to install it and it says:

Quote
"You must at least have Battlefield 1942 1.06.101 patch installed to continue with installation."

Is this absolute or is there a way to get around it, like a manual installation?

My dedicated servers are running versions that allow both the free one and the original retail CD version to connect. I feel this gives me the greatest chance of getting players. So far, I can confirm that Battlegroup42 and Battlefield Heroes mods work.

FH2 Help / Support / Linux Server Crashes

I have a new install of Mandriva 2009, have added nothing to it except for BF1942 server with BlackBagOps latest BFSM.  BF1942 vanilla works perfectly but FH crashes as soon as it starts.  It exits with error code 6.
