A thought came upon me: on the Western Front, the trenchline stretched from the channel to Switzerland right? so what did the trenches look like at the extreme flanks? I'm talking no units between you and water or the Swiss.

So I'm watching a bitching documentary on the battle of Balaclava and noticed they were pronouncing "Hussar" oddly. Then it occured to me that that was the first time I had actually heard someone say it out loud besides me (we never had hussars in our history books). So I look it up in the dictionary, I'd been pronouncing it completely wrong for the better part of a decade of knowing the word.


So, for the record, it is not pronounced "Huss-sar" but instead "hoo-zar". Hopefully, my shame can lead to some poor sap who just learned a cool new word not making the same mistake as me.

So, after a couple years of giving up my freedom to sail the high seas and spread the imperialist ideals of the great satan, they are giving me the boot. All I did was hold a knife to a guy's face and tell him I was going to stab him in the eye, psh. I was under the impression violence was a proud Navy tradition. Guess not. Anyway, one court martial later, demotion 3 pay grades and 20 days in the brig later, I'm getting my papers and being turned adrift to starve upon my native shore.

oh well. on the bright side, i can go back to my crippling addiction to FH2
