Darman - would you be interested in doing SP for Peleliu and other pacific maps?

2
- Yeah, the Napalm is quite cool on the new map Peleliu, that was a bit of magic by GeoPat & Stubbfan after i had mentioned it would be a cool feature.  Geo whipped it up super quick, he's good!

Everyone needs to run and update their Fh2 Community updater app and check all the new stuff out, and let us know what they think!  See you on server 3!

** Update **

Appears servers are back up - but restarts may continue to happen.

Hey Fh2 -

In case you are wondering World at War (WAW) is in the process of updating their servers and tools, and thus the FH2 master server may be up and down periodically.  I personally have no direct knowledge of when it will be back up and running for good.

When: Friday 17 February 2017
Downtime: Unknown; only told it will be Friday (host is on US East Coast time)
Affected: All game servers, TeamSpeak 3, forums, and development tools

The transfer is to even better hardware. The physical transfer should take only a matter of hours. But since it is not a clone transfer, it could take some time to complete installation of all services. Although, Wir3tap has worked miracles in the past, so... pray for him.

Thank you Remdul. You are awesome.  The other day I noticed that being able to export a single LOD individually as its own .Obj file would be extremely handy if manually selected that particular geometry in the program then hit export.  Or export options with ability to check or uncheck the LODs you want to export out of the model

Also, it's still a bit difficult to delete out LODs.  The program states at least one LOD is needed.  Example when trying to modify one of the stock kits, I could not delete out all but one LOD, didn't seem to work.  It be very nice if you removed those restrictions if possible.  It makes hacking parts and pieces of models to form new ones easier.

Was working on new kits for the cmp project.  Harmoniker helped with accessing the max files... but for those of us that don't have direct access to that fh2 repository that basically makes those things impossible.   Ty and gg

After playing the map a bit, from a player's perspective, the map has shaped up nicely and is visually pleasing.  Running around, you think 'quality'.

Should be some really intense gameplay with Brit's on the attack.

This of course is just the tip of a very large iceberg that the 'FH2 Titanic' is about to crash into.

My sound mod alters the clientarchives.con but does not cause any mapping errors.

As I am working on several maps ... I can say quite readily I can compile with no issues.

Roughbeak -

I know your issue.

If you want to modify the gameplay stuff, and test it in game:

Copy "myLevel\editor\gameplayobjects.con"

into:

Server.zip ---

Server.zip\GameModes\gpm_cq\16\gameplayobjects.con
Server.zip\GameModes\gpm_cq\32\gameplayobjects.con
Server.zip\GameModes\gpm_cq\64\gameplayobjects.con

General Discussion / Re: 2.45/Fail compilation (Video)
« on: 10-06-2013, 21:06:15 »
Well considering we play the game almost every day, yeah, we are going to be the usual suspects.

Who would you rather hear from Slayer, someone who plays the game once a month, or someone who plays the game several hours a day?

The fact of the matter is the video is pretty clear evidence of a global problem with how tanks receive damage.  Many players we 762 admins have talked to have a clear problem with it, and consider it a game breaker in a lot of ways.

So, instead of dismissing these people, maybe, talk about how as a developer you can maybe remedy the situation, if there is something to remedy at all,or if it can be fixed at all, *in your opinion*.

We'd like to hear that instead.  Putting people down like that...only pushes them away... I don't think that's the right attitude for such a small tight community Slayer.  The players would like to know that someone in the dev team actually has their back and stuff will improve.  Messages like that, only convey an attitude of dismissal.

Overall this is a pretty eye opening video.  When you see it all like that compiled together, it shows a pretty clear problem.

What to do about this?  Very good question.

General Discussion / Re: Bad admin
« on: 18-05-2013, 03:05:26 »
I have to disagree with a few things said but everyone has their say.

At various points, I would always just go to where the most players were.  Wolf, WaW, FH, HSLAN.  Whatever, I didn't care what the server name was.

But after playing a bit, I started noticing my experience on 762 was better than the others.   I had better ping elsewhere, but i stuck to 762 because on HSLAN and Wolf was constant TK's by trolls with no admins in sight.  That was my experience.

Eventually, on 762, I noticed that tk'ers were kicked and the game went on pretty smooth and problem free.  At some point I noticed there were no north american admins, so, I volunteered and PM'd Odium out of the blue.  And I'm happy I did.

To date, I've only banned 1 person, and I can categorically say he absolutely deserved it.  Even then, I let him slide and didn't ask our head admin to actually enforce it.

I am glad 762 has done what it has done and proud of our admin crew.  We've made mistakes, we've kicked and banned some that haven't deserved it, we've had some internal conflicts, but, in the end, we are the guys making daily Fh2 play possible because we are trying.

Everyone on the admin crew, myself included, has basically screwed up at one point, but for the most part we've learned from our mistakes and try to do the best we can.

Thanks for the feedback on bad admins.  In the future, I'd like to invite the public players to PM me on the 762 forums if they ever have a bad experience with an admin and try to act as a mediator and get any situation resolved so all parties can be happy.

If you feel you are wrongfully kicked or banned, please, register on the forums and make an appeal.  Just, be nice and hopefully you will get the same treatment back in return.   Most of us read them and plenty of private discussions go on about how fair a kick or ban is, and a lot of times, they are reversed because of those discussions.   There are people behind the scenes that quietly try to stand up for players and ask for ban reversals, so don't think we're all out to get you.

I'll see about getting this and any quality custom map added to the new 762 custom map server.

We need quality, playable maps to become viable.

Any maps that are 'official' quality and we may one day consider adding to rotation.

There are server side tools out there for BF2 that allow clients to auto-download maps if they don't have them already.

Maybe at the next patch, 762 can find some good ones.

This tool can be improved by creating a new and improved compile to game / mod feature.

Have it point to the main mesh, LOD's and materials and compile for game ready use.

Seriously needs animated bullet chains so the game doesn't look so static and old.

Shrinking the player count?  762 is the only server actually SEEDING their own server.

If anything 762 is the only server trying to keep this game going.

Maybe if the WAW, FH, HSLAN, & WOLF people actually showed up on their OWN servers there might be a better community going on.  But they don't.  So what we have is 762, except on Saturdays for only a few weeks out of the year with a tournament or two going on.

I'm a relatively new to the admin staff on 762 after volunteering for FH on the 120p server to help manage the chaos, I decided I might volunteer for 762, since it seemed no other American players were interested in the job.  Since then, I've seen more effort behind the scenes than I ever thought I would.

I'm not attached to the server in any fanboy way, I don't hold a 762 tag, nor do I agree myself personally with all the rules per-say.   But what I do respect is all the hard work going on.  And I think they'd love to do more, especially to help beta test, which, would be the best decision FH2 could make considering who is keeping this place alive.  Everyone has a friend in 762 as long as the respect level is maintained.  They are people too.

In-game, in forums and in personal and group discussions, 762 is always talking about how to keep the server both popular, on good maps and constantly re-examining current rules to make sure they are the right ones.  There are plenty of ideas that never reach the public that are debated, and to see a player say that 762 is trying to shrink the player count to me is border line insulting to all the hard work going on behind the scenes.

Anyone who is kicked or banned has the opportunity to register and ask for an un-ban on the website.  Very few take that opportunity, but that is not 762's fault nor problem.

I can't count how many hours at this point I've heard Odium discussing all the things he's tried to do to both be firm on rules, and at the same time, appease the community in order to be a great server admin.  INCLUDING opening polls and debates on how the rules on 762 should be.  He certainly doesn't have to, or take the flak he gets, but, amazingly he does anyways.

I will leave saying, to all the pundints, there are plenty of opportunities to voice your opinion, and the more you do, especially in a respectful way, the easier it will be to be heard.

Get involved with the community other than being a complainer.  Register on the the 762 site, volunteer to be an admin...especially if you have ideas that you think would better the community and the server, hop on teamspeak, whatever.

See you in game.

Suggestions / Admin Wiki Needed !

http://wiki.rustyinplaces.org/article/Basic_BF2:PR_Admin

...Would be a handy tool for FH2 admins, so my suggestion to the FH2 team is come up with a version of this for FH2.  All the maps, layers and modes easily readable.
