« on: 10-06-2014, 03:06:24 »
hey guys i thought i'd share these pics i got from last weekend. they were all taken from my phone so excuse the quality. the fw190 is obviously a replica but pretty cool to see fly in person.  enjoy.

i never realized how big a p47 was compared to a p51

this  flew missions over Normandy on D day. during the show it went in the air and people jumped out with chutes

I have vidio of the fw190 flying with 2 p51's following it. i will try and upload them when i can

Why do you think the FW is a replica?

Thanks a lot for posting these pictures. What airshow is that? Did they have other planes than those shown as well?

I should go through my Le Bourget Airshow album. That was the best thing about my previous occupation, I would make it there and to Paris each time. I think I went twice, but I am not too sure after all those years. Thank you so very much for posting these pictures, I wish we had more WWII aeroplanes at Le Bourget.

Why do you think the FW is a replica?
Because their are no origenal flying FW 190's at this moment.

Flug & werke made 20 reproduction FW 190's in 1996.

I have some pictures (also from mobile phone) from the local airshow I went to several weeks ago.  The airshow was in Quonset Point, Rhode Island.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quonset_Point

Interesting fact: the US 'Quonset Hut,' which was based off the British 'Nissan Hut' seen in FH2, got its name from this area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quonset_hut

The area was also the original base for the US 'Seabees' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seabee

The big draw is usually the performance of the 'Thunderbirds' or 'Blue Angels.'  This year it was the 'Blue Angels':

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Angels

There were a lot of aircraft on the tarmac, but I have seen most of them before and with most of them being modern or post-WW2 I was not interested in taking pictures of them.  I did take pictures of this Polish MiG jet, though.

There were also flights of P51's, a Wildcat, V-22 Osprey, and F-22 Raptor (among others).

And a video of the Raptor taking off:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_surviving_Focke-Wulf_Fw_190s

a handfull are flightworthy. A5, A8, D13  model...

Several are listed as under restoration, some must also be made to flight worthy since it seems to be the new restauration standerd.

Although it is safe to say that its a big chance to be a reproduction (although its not really a copy when it is exactly the same as the old, even having original parts made with original tools, more like a new production run)

it used t be called "wings over gillespie" its at a small airport in San Diego. they had many other planes and a few jets on display but not too many flying.  there is the Miramar air show later this year that is actually on the military base i plan to attend that will have all the latest stuff they are allowed to show the public.
