Once upon a time in america.
10/10

It's a Sergio Leone movie so I have nothing to say except this: it's a masterpiece. If you want to see great movie you have to those made by Leone.

5 Days of War 5/10

Propaganda, propaganda, propaganda. Russians look like gangsters, kill civilians etc. and georgians save the day. Georgian soldiers all have special forces style training and one squad can kill a company of russians. Should get less than 5 points, but whatever.

I gave it 4/10, and I consider it generous. The Russians so they say in the movie, are paid soldiers, because the Russian Army are not motivated enough. As a fiction, the movie is good, but it poses as "inspired by true events" BS, hence the low score.

Anyway, I also like Tintin, watched it on my seat's AVOD while on a flight. Nevertheless, it is enjoyable, the same multiple plot, multiple stories, light mysteries, but in overall entertaining. Love Captain Haddock's depiction here.

But I still don't get Drive. Everyone must have went nostalgic with this movie. Tell me, what kind of relationship do you guys have to these kinds of noir and almost slasher movies?

I did not think of Drive as a noir-slasher film. I thought more of it as a really nice dark thriller drama with an amazing cinematography and soundtrack. The only minus for me was Goslings performance. Not bad but a little but to stiff and too much 'McQueen' over it.

And I thought the ending was perfect. Simple and easy but so fitting to the story and movie itself.

I have watched 9th Company and Ip Man, and more romantic comedies that I would have liked because high school girls love them a lot.

What'd you think of 9th Company? I hated how the movie gets ruined by the shoddy end-battle. Up until then it was a possible classic.
I am very impressed by this movie, considering the budget. Its like Full metal jacket. Everything is totally top class untill the end(Yes i found the end battle of Full metal jacket a bit dissapointing)

No 9th company is a great movie. Very hard but right still in the correct context. Its a shame this movie is ill-promoted

Considering that Drive (2011) is an Indie movie, I guess it was quite a success.
The movie also garnered good reviews across the web.

For me: the movie started very good, it has some tense building, but ended brilliantly. Gosling was quiet and icy cold throughout the suspense. That's cool, but sometimes too-unrealistically cool, it's a movie nevertheless and I enjoyed watching such character.

But here is my downs:
Soundtrack, "Normal Humanbeing" is more like a nuisance, it plays loud kinda psychedelic (with that synthesized girl voice and plain beats).

Slow developing plot, while good, it kinda boring, almost Martin Scorsese boring.

I agree on the ending. It is a feel-good one. I like how the good guys win and still doesn't change at all. He is the same cool, icy cold guy who is in the right cause.

I'm a rabid fan of Drive ;D One thing keeps bugging me though. I don't think the kiss in the elevator really happened. He shifts her to the back, to protect her from what's coming. Then, we see his, or perhaps even her true wish instead of the web they're in. Maybe it's the dramatic light switch, I'm not sure. They stop kissing and real life resumes with a soon to be squished mob skull. Thoughts?

In the meantime..

Tin Tin (2011)
What a nice surprise full of... surprises. Many nudges and winks to the comic series, made with love. One can tell Steven has been working on this since the early eighties. He nailed it ('bout time he showed us too). I didn't like them combining the Unicorn and the Crab with the Golden Claws in one movie, but live action capturing and then animating is the bomb.
The characters, except Tin Tin himself perhaps, looked and behaved exactly right. The desert scenes and the rowing boat were precisely how I remember them from paper. It should have lasted longer too. 8,5 out of 10

Because... perfect birds, cats, cows, but getting a dog rightly animated seems impossible. Liked Bobby anyway. Haddock was awesome, as he should be. As a young kid, he was one of the 'bad' figures you could like in public. He swears a lot, but not really, or does he, duizend bommen en granaten! ;D

Also, picked up Fringe again... they got it back on track. Ah Doctor Jones. He's great.

My favorite Morricone soundtrack are from dollars Trilogy (probably ectasy of gold, with death of a soldier), but the thing I love the most from Leone Western is the final duel.

So, I watched Ironclad.

It's essentially a movie about a rebellion against king john, post-magna carta, with awesomeness distributed greatly.

I would have to rate it a 9.8/10. Easily one of the best movies I've seen in awhile.
Templars being badasses, generally cool shit, its great

Ironclad:

Basassery, boobs, blood, brawls, I watched it and although a bit gory (depicting violence in great detail), it is pretty entertaining.

Battleground

A movie from 1949 about 101st at Bastogne.  This is a really great film.  I won't give a synopsis, but it has some cool moments and has the distinction of being my pick for having one of the greatest endings in a war movie!  ;D

Great movie, got me scared a few times. What I like the most is the unexpected ending, made me laugh!
The Moon is opposing Jupiter. Don't get involved, it's their problem.
