Wish they hadn't cut down funds for reservist training over here. 
Well, Germany is currently rebuilding its reservist forces after the old "home guard" units were disbanded long ago.
But until these new reservist units are actually fully active the only good way to actually do cool stuff is to temporarily join active units. My former bataillon spent a week on exercise so I decided to "reactivate" and join them for that time period, doing that cool stuff.

It´s not always fun and I´ve sometimes questioned my decision to sign up, since you´ve got to deal with lots of bullshit and pointless, bureaucratic stuff. Besides, payment is better in the civilian world and you´ve got way more freedom to do what you want.
But then, you get to do cool stuff you can´t do in the civilian world and learn to appreciate the small things most people take for granted.
If it makes you happy, I´m a university student now and quite happy as a civilian. I can enjoy chicks and beer way more than when I was in the army.
