This is the COMAC ARJ-21, the "indigenously developed" passenger jet aircraft by China. Well, using foreign made parts are okay. But apart from models they can copy from... why use an aircraft which is deemed obsolete like Dc-9/MD-80 family??!?

Fuselage & tail empenage = Dc-9's (McDonnell Douglas used to make MD-80s/Dc-9-80s in Shanghai)


Main wing = Tu-334 (Tupolev is consulted by COMAC during development)



Can't comment on the engine, it is using GE CF-34, which are popular on aircraft of this size. It is also used by Embraer E-jets and Bombardier CRJ series. It is a brilliant choice actually.

So yeah, if you want to see your two or more favourite objects blended, favourite actors given award, you still have the chance, in CHINA!
