Gaming / Re: Battlefield 3
« on: 09-11-2011, 12:11:36 »
For anyone from the FH community who wants to join up along likeminded people :

Forgotten Hope Alliance (FHA) is active in BF3.

We are a clan of friendly, cool people that used to play FH1/2 and World of Tanks. We now focus on BF3 exclusively (although a bit of FH2 is encouraged  8) ).

We're actively looking for FH players that are playing BF3, to keep this community together! Among our players you can find FH2Hi, Siben, G_Drew, Sander93, VF101Grimreaper, Corvi and several others - even Humbug is upgrading his PC to play BF3 (ARENT YOU!!!).

We have our own dedicated Teamspeak host and quality forum (SMF), and will run our own BF3 server with an extra clanwar mini-server starting Back-2-Karkand pack in december.

Every evening and in the weekends we form multiple platoons, having great fun and teamplay. This is much more fun than playing alone, I can tell you :)

If you want to join us, look for the ForgottenHope Alliance (yes, without space in the first two words) on Battlelog, or just join our teamspeak in the evening - forgottenhopealliance.net:9988 ! Be patient so we can give you rights.

If you have questions, contact me on battlelog (dnarag1m) !

So, to recap :

Battlelog main contacts : dnarag1m, TA3K
Battlelog clan : ForgottenHope Alliance
Number of members currently : 20
Teamspeak3 : forgottenhopealliance.net:9988

[edit] oh did not see you wanted custom sensitivity. I would not recommend this in general since it throws off your aim as has been proven. Playing with a single sensitivity for months is the prime way to get 'instinctive' feeling for coordinates in your game. Switching senstivity resets this and dooms you to a 'track your mousecursor' kind of playstyle that will never be as fast as the muscle-memory based one.

Also do not forget to disable mouse acceleration if you are serious about your aim. Linear mouse speeds are much easier to predict and control, compared to acceleration (the faster you move your mouse over the same real life mousemat, the more distance it does on the screen - your brain has to measure two sets of data to control one individual one - the cursor..not good!)

1) Gaming mice are a fraud mostly, unless you really want/need shitloads of buttons.
2) Simple is better. Get an ergonomic mouse, with forward/back buttons, scrollwheel (with sidescroll maybe)
3) I've tried a ton of mice from every company out there since 1994' with hardcore gaming, and Logitech never failed. I replaced them only because I wanted a new look, or the old ones usually got dirty after a few years because how I treat them :)
4) No wireless crap for gaming. Saves you headaches.

So. Logitech is the Volkswagen of mice, and I think that is the main brand to look for. If they do not offer what you want, look elsewhere (gaming brands, microsoft, specialistic ergonomic stuff $$ etc).

I have had a MX400 now for one and a half years (Before that a lot of mice that are quite similar) and I cannot think of anything else. Smooth operation, glider pads stick on, laser is very accurate also with fast movement, ergonomically perfect, weight is very good for gaming.

This is the new brother of it, the M500 :

Does not cost an arm and a leg, and is very comfortable. Could be my next mouse, but cannot find anything wrong with my current one sadly  ::)

SdKfz 165/1 10.5cm leFH 18/1(Sf) auf Geschützwagen IVb . 10 prototypes was completed from 200 ordered and used in 16th Pz Div in Russia by the years of 1942/43 .

Looks like that chassis was planed for future using ... like in Pz III/IV  8)

Actually the other way around. The chassis of the PIII/IV was developed to be a unificational tank base to make the production of pIII *and* pIV more efficient. This movement was stopped at some point (Very foolishly), however the chassis philosophy and schematics were transferred to several tankdestroyers that went in various stages of production.

Soppa,

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think at least one of the biggest current FH servers has offered you unlimited and FREE access to their 8-core I7 / 8gb / 1gbit unlimited server, complete with professional admins and a decade of experience in running fh multiplayer hosting.

Free of cost.

Why keep asking for donations if you can do it for free ?

These servers lack something particular you need to run 128 player FH2. And you dont know what, because you cannot run the code!

HA! Got you there humbug!

Tolga,

Turkey should watch out just the same. Not now, but in 5-10 years. Turkey will become more modern throughout it's hinterlands, not just the cities. This will change things.

- Large dependency on tourism.
- Large dependency on 'production' of high-volume goods (that can quickly be transferred to cheaper countries at the flick of a pen when Turkish labor becomes too expensive)
- Large army that it wants to keep modern and in action
- Little natural resources (only 2% of GDP in minerals for example)

Just like Spain it however has an important and dependable production of fruits and vegetables that keep a nice trickle-flow of money from outside.

With the Lira this is all not so bad, since it can be controlled in-house. And Turkish banks have been lucky to be 'underdeveloped' in terms of investing schemes - they are not hit much by all the issues that have been going on in more modern banks that had issues with the mortgage schemes that collapsed.

Either way, Turkey must watch where it's going too. If the world decides Turkish labor becomes too expensive and the whole textile and consumer good's production runs off to a cheaper country...it will not look rosey.

This is a closed circle.

If all of you want to keep sending your money to a single person for an overpriced server....

I still cannot believe nobody sees the amount of control this exerts over an entire game-scene. It's a very openly commercial lock-in system - if you pay me, you can play on your favorite server.

Everybody seems to keep forgetting that HSLAN (and others) have been hosting expensive servers and only asked a voluntary contribution from their own members. Letting us, the FH scene, play on it for free.

That's the kind of kindness that should be rewarded with a donation.

Let me just state again - the server Soppa is hosting can be rented with EXACT same configuration for 50% of the price. So where is this other 50% going to ?

THeTA...it's : MAIS ALORS, LES TANKS FRANÇAIS ARRIVENT!

Cmon, you belge :P

If you want to know why the French have such a bad reputation in Spain, Holland, Belgium, Germany and England. THIS IS IT RIGHT HERE.

After a decade of dealing with them, I'd say the most annoying part is that they ALWAYS make a problem out of the spoken French of foreigners. If it's not perfectly-perfect, they pretend they do not understand it, ignore you or point out some itsy bitsy grammar mistake.

Let's just say that France is the only country in the world where I cannot communicate properly, because nobody speaks English, nobody speaks Dutch, nobody speaks German, and very few Speak some Spanish. I speak all of them, but usually end up having to use my hands to make any point - From Normandy to Toulon.

I've met two English teachers so far in France, and both of them spoke so horribly English I could not properly understand them most of the time.....lol ?

*end of rant*  8)

oh. And an epic screenshot of FHA in action!

On our FHA forum we run two add-ons.

One is Apture, the make wiki/video links pop-up in a mini window, position based on the place of the link.

The second is a you-tube embedding addition that will allow you add youtube tags : [/youtube] etc.

Both are fantastic add-ons that really work very intuitively. I'm surprised they are not implemented in this forum yet? They are SMF compatible. At least, Apture is.

We run 2.0 RC3, but I think the youtube embedding one works fine in 1.x
