I pre odered. You get 25% off the 'deluxe' addition (which is some soldier items like hats etc..) Imo $30 is just right for this game, it's not a AAA title worth $60, but it's well polished and I find the infantry gameplay to be solid.
Idk how many maps there are right now, but there's enough to keep me interested for a while. It'll probably be like RS where new maps from the community are thrown into the rotation.
From the FAQ thread on reddit;
Q: Are There plans for microtransactions or paid DLC?
A: Yes, we are looking at adding cosmetic packs to the game post launch. This will allow characters to have additional items to personalize their in-game characters. This paid content is designed to help us continue supporting the game with new free content for all players moving forward.
Q: Does the game feature a modding SDK? What can you do with it?
A: Yes the game features a full SDK. Modders can do anything from new maps and weapons to full total conversions if they wish. It is most similar to UE3/UDK with game specific unreal script extensions and middleware additions.
Q: What Factions Are Available in Game? A: Southern Forces: United States Army & Marines Northern Forces: Northern Liberation Front (Also known as the Vietcong) and the People's Army of Vietnam (The North Vietnamese Army).
We are looking at adding the ARVN and ANZAC forces as an update at some point during the game's life cycle. But keep in mind that plans can change.
https://www.reddit.com/r/rs2vietnam/comments/691859/rs2_vietnam_updated_faq_and_information_guide/I'm psyched they want to add ARVN and ANZACs. Ik nothing's official but the devs seem pretty passionate in wanting to bring new stuff. Looks like no French Indochina War, but tbh that's a stretch in any Vietnam game. (does EOD have a French faction?)
there's also talk on the forums of add drivable M113s for the Americans. No tanks or anything that powerful tho.
