Their expansion packs are priced at full medium-sized retail game of $30 something when new. To be fair, they do offer new game-altering mechanics and storyline, besides the usual items. But still very expensive. They also offer "stuff packs," which are priced at a whopping $20 for what basically are just "stuffs," which sometimes includes new object-specific mechanics.
Not to mention the Sims Stores micro-transactions, which are randomly required to open this and that in-game.
Simcity is also modeled after Sims series, tidbits like a single custom building will set you back $1.
Then we have Battlefield, which have unlocks, icons, booster, and shitbits. Then NFS, FIFA, Madden, and all sports titles are following the same model. NFS is selling packaged cars at $10-20. It is all in EA's business model. I hope they won't pick other established franchise, God forbid.
Next stop: Command & Conquer series.
