So you only create things for the masses who bail FH2 after 3 months and then only Hslan is full again while people are getting tired of things that so many games featured. Just my opinion, don't feel offended please :P

300 people out of 15,000 are not "the masses", we are still one of the most niched mods out there.... .. if we made 1939 there would be 50 people playing. We need to secure a large playerbase before doing any more risky releases.

You guys should do pacific next then. With the new Band of brothers season it will be very popular!

*Cough* Alam Halfa *cough* Gazala *cough*

Gameplay of those maps is very different. The layout and the weapons available make it kind of difficult for squad play. There isn't one glaring reason for this, just a lot of small things. Mostly it is the flat terrain and spacing of objectives. As a squad it's much more useful to be defensive. On offense you can only hope your squad leader ninjas his way near a flag.

Totalize
Ah that explains why I haven't seen it. Totalize is the map I wan't to play the most, but I always seem to play at times when it has just been played on every server.
^
It came out as most popular map but I almost never see it playing, rush hours maybe 1 or 2 servers while other maps have like 4 servers  :P

Yeah, why is there no Totalize 24/7 Server? Would be awesome. :P

I agree :)

Please make more Normandy maps that have similar gameplay to Totalize.

It's my favourite map for FH2 right now. No matter what your role on this map I just find it fun. As a squad you have a lot of options too, it's especially fun defending the artillery hill using the pak/nebel/88 (until artillery blows it to bits). Lots of cover for infantry as well so it's easy to go on the offensive. It has a great "sandbox" feel to it, where it's never the same twice. It's hard to say the same for other maps.

I hope for a map like it with Americans or British. A push map like it would not be so bad.

- so if any of you guys get a job with Gearbox, you owe me a beer  ;D
Absolutely. I will be sure to PayPal you a pint.  ;)

hah! if they stop using Unreal, maybe  ;D

I thought anyone would be glad to use unreal especially coming from BF2 engine...

I cant comment on how good the tools that come with the engine license are, but unrealed4 is hands down the best map editor.

I lost my mojo recently.

It's like my greyhound is stuck in first gear, my carbine is shooting rubber bullets and my typhoon flys like the wright brothers plane.

BF2 is a five year old game I'd think most people have a computer that can run it.

I found the review a little overflattering as well. But hell if it attracts players then it's good. The devs should be sending info to PC gamer and the like. Even writing an article on FH2's release and sending it in isn't a bad idea.

I'd like to see all of the Africa maps back in rotation... why only 4??

IMO the normandy maps are much more fun. Plus everyone is kind of tired of the africa maps.

2) What you mean exactly? A spot which has binoculars automatically or an open hatch to allow those with binoculars to sit in and give spots / observe terrain?

Actually I guess there would be no way to have the tank commander look out with binocs and be vunerable while in the same vehicle position. Sorry wasn't a very well thought out suggestion.

About the AP ammo. Does it 1 hit all tanks? I haven't used it on a tiger but I know from experience the tiger can take direct HE hits.

5) Working on it... Stuka Zu Fuss is already in! Altho it is a bit dodgy and heavy WIP...

I've used it to some effect. Manually spotting with a squadmate is kind of tough but I guess non static arty needs a different spotting system put in place.

Suggestions / A few Artillery suggestions
« on: 10-09-2009, 14:09:50 »
I really like how artillery is implemented in FH2. I don't know the specifics of how it was coded or the limitations of the engine, but I do have some suggestions regardless just to make it a little more user friendly.

1. Dialing in with the mouse can feel awkward when making slight adjustments, I think either the arrow keys or WASD should be used.

2. Tanks having a binoc view and the ability to spot. Perhaps only designated command vehicles if it's a balance issue. I think the more spotters the merrier.

3. New spots don't replace old spots when using artillery, perhaps just a *new target acquired* message flashes or whatever.

4. Non-mortar artillery needs a change for the spotting view, or at least a view that centers down it's gun line with a slight change of pitch. It's taken me a lot of practice to be able to snipe tanks with AP, but really the system needs a bit of tweaking to make it more intuitive. Of course an alternative solution would be to decrease shell velocity to get a nice easy arc going.

5. Mobile artillery  :-X

Yes these suggestions would almost make noobs able to use artillery, but in the average game of FH2 it's rarely used effectively.

Oh and hi everyone. this is my first post here, but Ive been playing FH on and off since first release for 1942.
