LIGHTNING will say they can release at June 6th of next year if you like it.
They can wait as long as they like. However, only the beta testers and devs will be playing it on their development server. The original game (BF2) was released in 2005. Except for die hard fans, the window on attracting interest wanes with each passing day.
All one has to do is to fire up the game and hunt for a populated server. Typically you'll only find one that has anybody playing, and lately even these aren't filled.
This doesn't bode well for the mod, IMHO.
And paid to do it or not, without milestone dates and a project schedule of sorts it, project creep slips in. What should've taken six or eight months with folks working a few hours a week slows and takes over a year.
Answer this for me (and I know that someone here can), how many maps, armies, weapons, etc were released for FH1 in the same time period? I have to admit, I started playing FH1 late after interest in DC .07 waned. However, I soon began really enjoying this mod because there were so many battles in the rotation in all theaters of the war.
Here we are four years after the release of BF2 and two and a half years after the release of 2.0, and we're still wandering around the deserts of North Africa.
So tell me why are project schedules such a bad thing?
