Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - SP/Co-op Mini-mod and Maps

The files need to correspond to the files in your folder. Many of them go into Server for that map, so you might want to look in the .zip and see before you plug them in. One, i think info does go straight in and replaces its counterpart there... make backups.. always important, and yes, they work in 2.26

maps are listed in the first post  :o

Knowing Remick04 from his work, I'd say a map that interesting-looking MIGHT be one of the earlier projects... but I'm just intuiting

I too will be so happy to see that soon

You surprisingly know me well already ;D

I did post updates to the current 3 maps I've released in case anyone missed it.

Here: http://www.filefront.com/16452779/2.26-SPMini-Mappack-1v.2.rar/ (http://www.filefront.com/16452779/2.26-SPMini-Mappack-1v.2.rar/)

All I did was add the new gameplay object layouts of 2.26. So, any new toys on those maps you can now play with. I haven't made any fixes to the navmeshes yet.

Any combination of the maps/AI tweeks causes FH2 to CTD during loading of any map in FH2 2.26 :(

Have restored the files to original 2.26 and no dramas - just a nuisance because I enjoy playing FH2 with my brother over our LAN and 1 on 1 just doesn't cut it unless in a small map :)

Any idea about what to do?

Cheers

I know all the above maps load up no problem without the current minimod, but I haven't tried using it with 2.26.

Drawde should have a 2.26-friendly version of his minimod ready soon.

If you can't wait, you could always uninstall FH and reinstall it up to 2.25 if you still have the installer for it... :-\
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - SP/Co-op Mini-mod and Maps

You can even have your cake and eat it. Simply rename unmodded 2.26 to something else and install 2.2 and update to 2.25. You can then play both sp FH2 and CQ by simply renaming the one you want to play back to fh2.

G'day mate, welcome to the forum... :)

There are instructions in the first post (under the DL links), but note that there are two sets of instructions. The reason for this is because the maps in the map-pack only contain the server.zip and info folder, whereas the Lebisey and Villers DL's contain the whole level folder.

How did you "install" the maps? Where did you extract them to?

Hello and thanks.

Not sure what you mean by server.zip and info.  The path I extracted them to was:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2\levels

The OS I am using is Windows XP Pro 64bit.

Well you've extracted them to the right place...and even if you didn't backup/rename your files, WinRAR should've overwritten the existing files... :-\

Err...the only thing I can think of is, when you click on 'Extract to...' in WinRAR, the 'Overwrite mode' option (on the left) isn't set to skip or rename the files is it?

The server.zip and info folder are the only two files in a map's folder that need to be modified to make SP work.

The only option in the Overwrite mode in WinRAR that is checked is Ask before overwrite. And when I extract them. It's don't ask to overwrite anything.  :-\

Another newbie. G'day blarg, welcome to the forum... :)

No, aserafimov hasn't given us a link to his version of Falaise as yet, I guess he's still tinkering with it. The link in the sticky is for the "old" infantry-only version.

...It's don't ask to overwrite anything.  :-\
Hmm, I'd say you must've extracted them somewhere else by mistake... :-\

You can double-check by going into 'C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2\levels\operation_totalize' and looking at the server.zip. The size of the file (under the name) should be 8,563 KB, the original file is only 2,863 KB.

Post by: DRM on 02-07-2010, 18:07:50
I downloaded and installed both the patch for SP and then the maps that appeared in the first post, keeping a back-up. I am mainly interested for Totalize, so it is the only one I have played until now. It loads well and I am able to play during a few minutes, but after a while it ends up CTD.

Initially I thought it was due to the fact that I had made additional modifications in the "python" folder to enable 3rd person view in tanks and planes(mods>fh2>python>game>gameplayPlugin.py -I changed the 26th line in this last archive; see my recent post in the Mod section asking for such a thing-). But then I played in official SP maps like Sidi Rezegh with that little modification and they didn't CTD.

The previous posts suggest that what I have to do is to came back to 2.25 in order to solve the problem. Is that right? If not, please tell me the solution. Thank you fellas.

Good news, all.
Here is my own link to the latest version of WinterHilf's Alam Halfa. In this version, the German tanks will storm the line and quickly take the first line bases. The map spawns more tanks at capped flags, making an offensive or counter-offensive that much more aggressive. Bots also use more stationary positions with mortar playing a significant role.... Enjoy
http://www.filefront.com/user/mydjinny

Can the sticky be updated with this then?

Other fh files you may want from that link are the functional toolbox for forgotten hope which replaces the current buggy one to aid in increasing the number of bots you have. You will still need to change the ratio to 64% if you have 64 bots and 98% for 96 bots if your pc can handle it. Any more bots than that and you wont be able to join a squad or rebalance the ratios.

You may also want to replace the Divehorn sound with that from Forgotten Hope 1. Instructions and the .wav file are also on that page....

EDIT:
And before anyone goes off Downloading Modmaps, that's Forgotten Hope 1... Work done by Spike1942 way back in an attempt to rebalance and improve gameplay.... Just so you know before you go off and download it...

ADDED: Sidi Rezegh's gameplayobjects.con. This version replaces the heavy British tanks with A cruser, a Stuart and a Crusader tank. The battle would play like it says in the book: An aggressive British charge, a German strong but fruitless defense and a series of counter-attacks that reclaim the airfield, and a to-and-fro and such.

Goodwood Tiger II should replace the current Tiger tank and the Panther will be replaced by a different camophlaged version making it easier for it to move around undetected in that terrain.

Now adding an old gem. AJ_51's take on Seige of Tobruk. In the dead of the night, the German army attacks the Australian lines. Experience night combat like never before with streaks of mg fire, deadly night flying Stuka's and close pitch-black quarter combat.

I will need to make some changes as it still uses the old factions' audio making radio overs nonexistent. Also, I was really thinking of if I should change the Germans to Italians to add a new take on the battle. Let me know what you think before I make the changes.

Cheers,

Djinn

Can anyone post a link to the original Alam Halfa so I can update with this latest version? All that is contained in this update is the server.zip and it's not showing up in my map list.

Here you go
http://www.battlefieldsingleplayer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13586

This is WinterHilf's navmeshed version mk 2. Earlier done, not as great navmeshing. Dump the new server.zip in here and it should fix all your problems.

Perhaps worth Stickying this up too since it doesn't appear to be anywhere else... Unless the Server.zip is really all that's needed to make a map COOP  ???

Post by: DirArtillerySupport on 04-07-2010, 19:07:47
That post is a little old...the file no longer exists.  Does winterhilf have a file space like you do? I check yours daily along with these threads.

Post by: djinn on 05-07-2010, 01:07:50
Let me see if I can post up the whole thing tomorrow... i.e the complete Alam Halfa SP mk2

EDIT:
Ok, there are now 2-count-em, two Alam Halfa files - both with the latest navmeshing from WinterHilf. The larger one is the full level, the much smaller one is only the Server.zip update that brings the new pathmaps to the old Alam Halfa COOP/SP. So depending on your predicament, you got choices...

Enjoy

Thanks for posting the Alam Halfa files - seems to work fine for me, this is the first version of this map I've tried (a) that doesn't randomly CTD and (b) where the German tanks can actually work out how to get through the British defensive line!

One thing I noticed is that the Stukas seem to ignore the British 6-pounder gun in the middle of the first defence line, I managed to more or less single-handedly hold the enemy tanks back with this gun until (literally) I ran out of ammo... the Stukas bombed every other gun position around, but not mine. Tanks didn't seem to bother firing HE at me, either. (Checked the static 6pdr object and it has the same AI armour class as other static guns, so this doesn't seem to be the issue)

I'll get working on a custom AI script for this map, it definitely needs one as the Germans need to be on the offensive all through the game, whilst the British should start off focusing on defence and counterattack once they start losing CPs.

Ok mate, here's how to solve your problem:
-----------------------------------
1. Get rid of the "new" files you DL'ed and put your original FH files back in (if you don't, the patch won't install) OR you could just uninstall FH completely and DL the full version of 2.26.

2. Download the FH 2.26 patch (or the full version).

3. Drink some beer while you wait.

4. Install 2.26, then "install" the SP map files again.

5. Have fun... :)
-----------------------------------

You did everything right the first time, but the modified files (specifically, the server.zip's) are for/from 2.26... ;)

Currently uploading AJ51's Night version of Tobruk. I changed the German Afrika corpse to the Italian Army and changed a few Opel Blitzses to saharianas and two PZIIs to Semoventes. I also made a small modificaton to make the Aussies have flare guns. Sadly, I am unable to change normal arty to flare, and not sure if it was in AJ51's original... I know it was in his mersa matru.

I did include the original loadout of vehicles and armies as existed in AJ51's version of this map. With redundant voice over format, you wouldn't get the German or British voices though, as he made it in 2.0 when they still used BF2 vanilla's British and German voices.

I'd be grateful if someone could clean this up a bit more and any feedback would be nice. I got a ctd a couple of times I played it. Not sure if its from the flare gun, the sahariana or something I cannot forsee

OK. This may be a long shot. The version I have is 1.0.823. Maybe this is why the single player maps I am trying to load, won't work. But I will update with the patch. Or would it be better just to download a current version of FH2, then install the patch? What a mess.  :P I just want to drive a Tiger Tank.  ;D

Not sure what order of patch I need to do. Also do I want/need the server patch or the Incremental Patch?

Here you go:

Install BF2
/Update to 1.41 patch
/Further upgrade to 1.5 - Sadly, they never made a one-way trip for that and 1.41 takes a while

Install FH2, preferably 2.26 full.. its like 3GB something
/Or install FH2.2 if that's what you have, upgrade to 2.25 and further to 2.26.. see why I prefer you just get 2.26 full... and each patch takes as long as BF 2 1.41 patch to install... sometimes longer

Create a backup (I backup the whole game folder so I can play online and offline as and when)
/Drop Drawde's mod into the root FH2 folder so it replaces files and puts the tweak.zip files in
/Replace the neccesary map files with our DLs... some require placing files here and there, so look where you put them

You're done

OK Thanks

I already have BF2 installed and running the 1.41 patch. I play AIX 2.0, witch requires it. As far as the rest. I will get it done over time. And give her a go again. Thanks for all your help.  :) Now time to get some downloading done. And have some beer.

Good call, beer inclusive.

Note: While the game is designed for BF 1.5 patch, you will lose AI commander assets completely so heads up to that, and you might need to reconfigure your plane since all keyboard functions are replaced with I think joystick ?ones, by default.

You can play without 1.5 (And keep the 1.41), but that simply means you can't play online till you upgrade.

AIX =  8)

If you have enough room on your hard drive, I'd suggest copying the 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2' folder and rename it (this will be your BF2 1.41 folder). Then you can install the 1.5 patch and it will only patch the Battlefield 2 folder, not the copy.

You'll also have to edit the 'Target' and 'Start in...' lines in your AIX (and BF2SPCC if you use it) desktop shortcut's Properties, e.g: Target: 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\(new folder name)\...'

Well for AIX 2.0 the 1.41 Patch works fine for it. No need for the 1.5. Besides why fix it if ain't broke. And AIX 2.0 don't work to well with the 1.5 Patch.  :D

Yeah I have 3 2TB hard drives. :P I don't think I will do the 1.5 Patch. I don't want anything that will ruin my AIX 2.0 game. Some say it will work, and other say it don't. I am not willing to take that chance. I just want to be able to play some single player games for now.  :)

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah I have 3 2TB hard drives...
*whistles* That's a lot of space to fill... :)

Trust me, it works, I've done it a few times. In my 'C:\Program Files\EA Games' folder, I have 2 folders: Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2 v1.41.

Battlefield 2 is for FH2 (online and offline) and occasionally playing vanilla BF2 online.

Battlefield 2 v1.41 is for AIX, POE2, XWW2, etc. Basically it's for all my SP mods.

One other thing you might want to do, if you decide to do it, is to remove AIX from your Battlefield 2 (1.5) folder. Just go into the folder and run 'AIXuninstaller'. It's your call though... :)

I totally agree... Allows me to update the AI patch with ease without the fear that I need to reinstall if things go up the spout

AND, in the rare occasions I decide to play online, I simply need to switch FH (with Drawde's) to FH SP, and change the FH MP to the FH and my FH shortcut works to that end... easy as pie

Besides, you wanna have your cake and eat it? You get the commander Arty (With all its flaws for snipers and base cappers.. you'll find out when you see it), and the 1.5 patch on the other side..

Well got the the full version of 2.26 done. So far everything works fine. However, there are a couple of maps that CTD in the middle of playing them.  Kind of disappointed that most of the maps don't have tanks in them.  :-[ And all the good maps are multi-player maps.  ???  Like a Tiger Tank to be specific. Seems to be the dev's are leaning more for multi players, rather making it equal. One of the things I like about AIX 2.0. But that's just my opinion.  ;D

Never the less, I am having fun with it.  :D Time to get some beer and get the other 7 PC's hooked up for a LAN Party on Friday.  8)

No worries mate... :)

For the most part, the FH2 dev team have little to no interest in SP, that's why it's in the state it's in and why the latest maps/vehicles aren't nav-meshed/coded for AI.

Also there's only ever a couple of people working on SP, and there's a fair bit of work involved nav-meshing/editing maps. As such, SP will always be a step behind MP.

There's a Tiger on Goodwood (at Axis main, not a KT though)... ;)

AIX is where I go when the FH2 bots frustrate me. More maps than you can poke a stick at and the bots do what they're told... ;D

Oh, and if you're gonna have a beer for me, make it a VB (I don't know anyone who drinks Fosters)... :)

I am currently trying to get bots to understand the Commo Rose. Up to now bots understand the following commands: Request new order, Move, Attack, Defend, Follow me + they acknowledge with a Roger or Negative

I am looking at both vanilla BF2 and AIX2 files.....the problem that I am encountering is that for FH2 developers changed some commands e.g. Request Pick up, get in and bail out
In vbf2 and Aix these commands are in the Standard commo rose while in FH2 they are in the Squad's comm rose.  ???

I am not proficient in coding so it feels really difficult to understand what goes where. I already ruined the FH2 commands more than once (thank god for backups)

Will keep you posted.

Post by: djinn on 18-07-2010, 13:07:30
hmmm... Now this one is crazy... But perhaps if the devs permit us to customize SP a bit, like we did for the Stuka, we can actually revert the commo-rose back to Vanilla's. I once had this idea of using both right and left-click to get as many options in. I could try and clean this idea up, but it would probably go better with what you are doing, Raziel... And heck, it should do wondrs for having bots shouting across orders, and maybe even taunts....

But the snag is, we would need someone who can actually look at the design of the Vanilla one, or PR would do (Since it has the left-right click options for its COOP) and revert this one....

Like I said, a crazy idea...

Operation Goodwood folder/Server.ZIP/Gamemodes/COOP or SP3 depending on which you want to change/64

there replace the GameplayObjects.con with this one

All it adds is the King Tiger and removes the Tiger. Remick, CanonFodder, the devs or Drawde already switched the colour of the Panthers so nothing new there....

Hi guys, great work you guys are all doing here for single player, I love seeing the Bots howitzer my ass to bits and all the other million little changes to improve the AI.

However, I have an issue with Operation Cobra provided by the OP, I'm unable to cap the first flag (farmhouse) on cobra as the Americans. I'd have 10 US bots on the flag just waiting, it greys out but never becomes capped, I've noticed it happen once or twice on Operation Goodwood from time to time but not as frequent.

I'm using Drawde's 1.3b AI mini mod.

Is anyone sharing the same experience or has a solution?
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - SP/Co-op Mini-mod and Maps
Post by: djinn on 04-08-2010, 10:08:31
Yer, that's an issue with 'double-cap'. It happens in many maps. Something I need to add to list of bugs we need to fix

The solution is to focus on another base (The windmill maybe) and let the bots slug it out. Eventually, usually not too long, the Germans will recap it and this undoes that issue. Once they get it back to more German than American, not neccesarily capped, the curse if broken. Chances are the remaining US troops wont let it go all the way and will cap it then.

Added: Winterhilf's Bardia SP to my Download link. See link to Alam Halfa

It wont show up in COOP, but it works in SP. It is not updated with Drawde's patch since it isn't one of the more commonly circulating maps and thus was not prepared under Drawde's mod to accept custom mortars.

It also has an issue with double cap at the base at the Brit side of the battlefield. I mainly post it up so Remick may include it in the official patch, maybe add the COOP aspect, add mortars with raised POV and fix the double cap

Feel free to enjoy it. Its well balanced and very engaging....

I'm about to test all these releases that have appeared (while I've been away) on a single level. I want to keep the hopefully good stability of new 2.3 official SP levels.

I guess I'll find out but I thought I'd get the latest here as well.

- Can I use ESAI AND Drawde's AI mini mod ?

- Any possible conflicts here between all the various releases ?

- Do all these releases work with 2.3 ?

Looks like some amazing work. Time to get my teeth back into it.
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop

You cant use Drawde's mod with 2.3. At best, it would revert some things that remick already used from the mod, at worst it would ctd.

Esai should work fine alone. Just note that void's custom luttich wont work without ESAI.

Thanks djinn, glad I checked in.

I played default 2.3 Supercharge (official level, no mods) and a bot was firing arty. Not sure if he was actually hitting anything but it was towards the nearest base. Does this mean some of Drawde's modifications have been incorporated into 2.3 ? There certainly seems to be more going on. This could get interesting with ESAI and the fixes.
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop
Post by: djinn on 14-01-2011, 00:01:18
Yup. Remick incorporated almost everything, then took it up even further. Arty fires further than in Drawde's.

There are a few bugs, but all in all 2.3 has the most solid AI of any FH2 version.

Post by: djinn on 17-01-2011, 09:01:20
Ok, go to the Fh2 mod folder, go to levels folder and in that, go to the individual folders for each map.

You would find a ZIP called server.zip. Access it and locate the files that need to be replaced eg. AI folder, AI Pathfinding, Gamemodes and drop the map fixes into their root folders to replace them.

If in doubt, backup the map folder first, and then work on the other. Since FH2 crashes no matter what you do, and some CTDs result in unrepairable shader issues that may go as far as requiring a re-installation of vBF2, you may want to make backups of your modded files in some folder on your PC so that you needn't have to do the surgical work each time you reinstall Fh2.

Hope this was helpful

Djinn, 2.3SP_fixed_files.rar has the whole server.zip for each level in it, so there's no need to mess with individual files... ;)

You could manually swap the old server.zip's for the fixed ones, but if you prefer to do it the easy way Kev...

Download WinRAR (if you don't already have it).

Then open 2.3SP_fixed_files.rar and extract it into: 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2'...and that's all you have to do... :)

WinRAR adds/replaces all the necessary files for you.

Just make sure 'Overwrite mode' isn't set to 'Skip existing files' or it won't install.

Here's a link to the Stuka code and siren that adds a dynamic automatic Stuka sound to the Stuka

The .wav file goes into:
objects_vehicles_client.zip\Vehicles\Air\de\Ju87b2\Sounds

The code snippet goes into .con files in
objects_vehicles_server.zip\Vehicles\Air\de\Ju87b2 folder

This is not Drawde's easy fit version though. Its a more hard-fix, but this is the original code. So if you are capable, enjoy this one. The developer does not want to be associated with it as he/she has issues with certain members of this community and wishes not to 'benefit their ilk' but as a means of keeping his word to me that he/s she's see this to the end, so here it is..

his/ her last gift to the mod sadly :-(

Hi, now I am also looking for Remick_04's unofficial mappack from before he was a dev, specifically the one containing the Mt. Olympus and Totalize maps. I need this non-crashing version along with my current GPO file to fix the inevitable Totalize crash you'd currently recieve from 2.3's version of the map

cF, anyone? Help?

Yep. that's it! Thanks. Will upload these once I patch them. Send a link to my site.

Featured in that list:
1/Seige of Tobruk night without CTD
2/ Totalize
3/ Op. Luttich ESAI version

I'm going to see if I can't replace most AT guns on Villers Bocage and Mersa Matru with static version to make bots use them more effectively since they are all so well positioned anyway.... Will get back with this later.

Erm, any chance you also happen to have Winterhilf's bardia 64 singleplayer map handy? I wonder if someone can make that work in COOP too. But I've lost the Singleplayer version too. System crash..

Load the map in the editor, show infantry navmesh, and check that they are spawning on the infantry navmesh
if not, move there spawn points onto the infantry navmesh,so there is a green dot under the spawn position, and not a red dot

ok, I have gotten a version of Bardia that works from an old backup of mine. I also updated the init.con file and weapons to that of 2.3.

DL this along with Cobra's fix for the CTD (Remick's older version with updated GPO and 105mm_ai), and the alternate Luttich by VOID, it does need ESAI though, or it will CTD. But this one has 3 more flag areas for the axis, so that the battlefield is more fluid and not centered around Mortain.

Bardia w. updated armies and gameplay objects
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20259196/bardia+SP.rar

Op. Cobra - No CTD,
using 2.26 navmesh and 2.3 GPO w. bot-friendly howitzers
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20259346/operation_cobra+2.26+fix+w.+arty.rar

OP. Luttich ESAI version
This map doesn't only contain ESAI strategy and commander AI, but also has 3 new German cap-able flags in the bocage area making the gameplay alot more dynamic
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20259407/operation_luttich+ESAI+Alternative.rar

Falaise Pocket 64 COOP and Singleplayer, by Aserafimov

This has modified artillery for bots so expect a crapstorn as soon as you enter the town. Panzers have also been repositioned to the road next to the LeFH105 so that bots enter the battle area faster.
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20259549/falaise_pocket+v2+FINAL.rar

Please add these to your opening Post, cF.... Bardia, Op. Cobra 2.26 CTD fix, ESAI Luttch, Aserafimov's Falaise Pocket 64. Also some maps like Carentan 16 and Battle of Britain are in their own threads, their DL link can be in the DL section also.

Wonderful djinn  8) I love op cobra. It will be nice to play it without bracing myself for a CTD. I'll have to try your tweaks (last post above) and see how the gameplay goes. It seems to get fiercer and fiercer with all this tuning till I'm just in one long FH blurred screen supression, lol  ;).
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop
Post by: djinn on 25-04-2011, 17:04:02
I should add, these are complete maps, except for the GPOS and init.con, so you don't have to do anything as far as tweaking is concerend. Just backup the original (Always brush your teeth and comb your hair), then dump the contents of these in its place.

Also, Cobra is actually alot more agressive this way. Bots do a 2-pronged assault on the Farm and Watermill, then push to the railyard and on to the 88 base in the rear, usually leaving the town to the very end... Very small chance of getting a double-cap error at the farm, and great tank-tank combat with Panthers being on the loose everywhere...

Real bug though is what happens when the Germans lose all cap flags. There is serious navmesh issues at the main base so Gerry gets stuck against the fences and the Panther and Marder which get through are easy prey for anything without infantry support. I think that exists for the current one too, but it's so rare to even get to that point, I can't be sure - I do need to ask Remick_04....

Remick?

@spaghetti... Its Italians, no? :)

I played your Bardia ! Interesting. More going on. Are those stock FH gun emplacements that are now in some places ? Only problem I came across is that I can't enter the enti tank gun on the roof of the bunker at the Italian end of the northern bridge. Apart from that though this is good !
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop
Post by: djinn on 28-04-2011, 00:04:46
Hmmm, never tried that gun - Will check it out.

Yer, I actually dropped the init.con and GPO files from the Conquest folder to the COOP and SP folder so that it uses the current layout

Ofcourse, like all mpas, I want bots to be able to spawn on all the guns so that it becomes a real battle crossing the river and moving inward. Human players should be able to play SL and stay in the rear, and still consider it fun and challenging - And tactical, rather than going commando. But that's a project for some other time...

Still alot to do - At least now all the map files are out there. So we know exactly what we have to deal with.
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop
Post by: djinn on 05-05-2011, 22:05:58
BTW, DJ Barney, that gun (A pak 38 I think it is), is a destroyed static. The Italian one is functional though. I got on it myself... Since the map was changed from German to Italian only, I think the devs changed some PAK38s to statics and then replaced most with Italian cannons.

Also, I have now uploaded Mt. Olympus for anyone who is facing the navmesh crash from the 2.3 version and wants to simply replace it with a working 2.26 navmesh version with updated GPO... However, it might screw up your online play, so backup the other when dropping this one in.
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20302927/mount_olympus+w.+2.26+Nav.rar

play either this, Totalize or any of the others online and tell me if it worked for you. I'm curious to know if its foward-compatible.

Also, CF, please change the toolbox link on your first page to one that makes it clear that these maps are available on the same page... And since Void's latest patch is out, please update that too....Link has changed.

thanks

Sorry about the delay folks... :P

I'm about to get booted outta cyberspace so I've just done a quick (read: half-assed) sticky update, I'll sort it out properly in the next couple of days.

...Also some maps like Carentan 16 and Battle of Britain are in their own threads, their DL link can be in the DL section also...
BoB doesn't properly work for me (idle bots), and Carentan...well, I don't recall exactly, but there was a reason I didn't add it to the sticky... :-\

I'll have another look at it.
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop

***************************************************************************************
Firstly, regarding the 'Read Me' and making backups:

Short version: Keep your FH2 installer files and backup the 'server.zip' for each map. It makes life easier... ;)

Long version:
Due to the number of files altered when using these AI fixes and the amount of time required to undo all those changes, it is far easier to keep your FH2 installer files and simply delete, then reinstall FH2 when the next version is released.

For example: The only full version of FH2 I have is 2.2. When the next version comes out, I just delete the 'fh2' mod folder and reinstall 2.2, then patch it up.

I'd rather sit through an hour or so of reinstalling/patching, than spend the same amount of time or more undoing everything, only to have the new installer fail when verifying the existing files (and trust me, it WILL happen), forcing you to reinstall anyway... ::)

Backup your server.zip's!
All but one of the fixes in the sticky change files in 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2\levels'.

More specifically, they add or overwrite files within each map's server.zip, and even though I reinstall each release, I keep a backup of each map's 'server.zip' file to fall back on just in case I fuck something up when I'm installing/editing files.

***************************************************************************************

Ok, now what else??... :-\

A few things need fixing:

Bardia
- needs the '64' folder in 'sp3' copied over to 'gpm_coop'

SoT Night - needs the new GPO and Init.con files added, and the only changes from the original SoT appear to be the lighting and the army swap so the 'Strategies.ai' file should be added as well (which will enable ESAI).

I tried SoT Night, without those 3 files, and it was a lost cause. The Italian CO mostly ignored the push mode, and ordered his men to attack the second line of flags... ::)

@djinn: Want to add those files and re-upload them mate? If not, I'll do it tomorrow.

And just to clarify, the files I add to the sticky need to be "3 step" files, as in:

1. Download
2. Extract
3. Play

If not, it's not user-friendly enough... ;)

Remember, this sticky is primarily for people who aren't familiar with editing files and want better AI.

It also helps keep the bulk of the fixes/extra maps in one place as an added bonus.

And in an ideal world, it serves as the current "version" of FH2's AI as a whole, i.e: when it comes to testing/problem solving, we all need to be using as close as possible to the same version to ensure consistent results.

Ok, that's enough bloody typing for now, I'll add the rest later... :)

I've noted a few missing or bugged items in 2.4

For one, no arty on Eppeldorf have _ai, so I added them and have uploaded it on my page
http://www.gamefront.com/files/user/mydjinny

Also, ALOT of the static guns, need not move at all, so to add to my custom GPOs, I will add for the following:
1. Eppeldorf
2. Meuse

But that is a pain in that ass to do, since I need to tweak it, get back ingame, take a look, tweak again... so it wont be today...  Still, you should have ALL arty firing in Eppeldorf with the custom GPO I have added to the site...

Meuse already has this, but the nebelwerfer DOES need to be moved foward imo - It can't see shit to fire at, and personally, I will ask Void to add ESAI to these maps, as well as move the spawn points around. Bulge maps should be heavy on armor, especially Axis armor presence. In Eppeldorf, the first spawn is almost 100% at the front spawn for Germans, meaning, few if any tanks - And all stationary positions need to be spawn points based on the flags they are at. out of my scope of work, but we'll see if Void or anyone else takes it up.

Enjoy the power of combined howitzer and mortar on Eppeldorf :)
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20565008/Eppeldorf_GamePlayObjects.rar

Also made changes to the GPO files I already had on. Find them here:

Falaise Pocket_GamePlayObjects.rar

... Since we no longer have arty on this map.

Operation Totalize_GamePlayObjects.rar
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20565012/Operation+Totalize_GamePlayObjects.rar
Solves one gun which should be a static and is currently mobile and ineffective

Mersa Matru_GamePlayObjects.rar
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20565010/Mersa+Matru_GamePlayObjects.rar
You should never play this map with mobile guns

Seige of Tobruk Day for Night Init.rar
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20565013/Seige+of+Tobruk+Day+for+Night+Init.rar
Init.con file (Armies) for Seige of Tobruk Night variant i.e Aussies vs. Italians a la FH1

Seige of Tobruk(Night)_GamePlayObjects.rar
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20565014/Seige+of+Tobruk_GamePlayObjects.rar
Same thing, but with one extra arty for Axis - Works for both SOT and SOT-night

Villers Bocage_GamePlayObjects.rar
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20565016/Villers+Bocage_GamePlayObjects.rar
Also, should never be played without static guns..

I am missing the mother of all static gun battles - Marethline. I will try to find it and see if I can't upload it today..

Enjoy!!!

Ya, Devilman's fix works for 2.4

Haven't tried ESAI, but someone else can answer that.

...Are goodies, posted there, 2.4 compatible?...
Asides from the Lafette fix, I'm not sure how many of the fixes (for the official maps) made it in to 2.4. I'll have to take a break from hunting shiny pixels and update the thread... ;D

But based on the lack of complaints and the fact people are still DL'ing the 2.3SP_fixed_files.rar, I'd say that any of the fixes that are still required are 2.4 compatible.

And yes, ESAI works with 2.4. It actually works with any BF2 mod.

Also, I know for a fact that CTDs for Lebisey are solved. However, Mt. Olympus will still crash in under 2 minutes, as would Totalize in about 5. I have not been able to apply the 2.26 file replacement to get it to work - It still Crashes for some reason.

Unless someone else has solved those 2 Navmesh CTDS.

Falaise fix no longer needed, since its now in the mod.

Little solutions like GPO file change will still be pertinent though, for maps like Eppeldorf, Mareth, Mersa Matru and Totalize.

Both Mt. Olympus and Totalize works just fine for me. I've tried this more than 10 times, experimenting crazy things (like trying to land the plane on ditches, fording it while taxiing, ramming a Tiger with Spitfire, spamming smoke nades out of frustration, etc) and they are okay.

Crashing maps on my side are Eppeldorf and Meuse River, especially when epic tank battles are ensuing in town. I know that the snow-camouflaged Hanomag have something to do as well.

On Eppeldorf there's a crash from the kubelwagon AItemplate name. Just had to remove _win, its in the server build so that dedicated coop servers don't crash from it. IIRC there was another _win rename variant that skipped my eye during final stress testing.

Remick did a lot of navmesh fixes. Totalize should be fixed and it can run full rounds without CTDs, in contrast to previously 5 minutes. If experiencing crashes do report how often.

I played several rounds on Totalize and had no CTD's. Maybe I had just luck or I didn't enter a special vehicle that causes this problem. But to summarize it: Totalize works fine for me, though the bots in the tanks and 88 are just overkill. ;D

The Crash on Totaize was never a vehicle. It was due to navmesh issues, same with Olympus. Well, might have to do a fresh install then, because I really don't get things that smooth.

Hey guys, this is the SP/coop links section? So I hope of you can help me...

Maybe you remember, once upon a time ^^ there was mappack for us friends of SP, called SP/Coop mappack #1. You can find it here http://www.bf-games.net/download/2311/fh2_conversion_sp_coop_mappack_1.html
Bad thing is, the link is dead. I searched the whole internet, but didn't find anything working.

So if some of you still have got this mappack or knows a link I didn't find, would you perhaps upload it somewhere? I think these look very fine and remind me of good old Bf1942 times.

Wow, that's old.

Considering it's from 4 years ago, it was probably one of the first SP add-ons for FH2.

And all of those maps, except Tank Master, are in imtheheadhunter's AIX mappack.

If nobody here has got it, you'll find Dnamro and imtheheadhunter over at BFSP. If it still exists, they should know...

There are a lot of fixes in the first post and in the following posts!

Are they all still working or are the fixes implemented in the regular 2.4-version?

What fixes work with the 2.4-version?

Where to put the GamePlayObjects.con files (folder ?)?
Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop
Post by: cannonfodder on 22-02-2012, 09:02:20
AFAIK all the fixes for the official maps are included in 2.4, the only exception being Goodwood-16 (and it will be in 2.5, won't it Void? :) ).

If you happen to have problems with any of those maps, the fixes will work with 2.4.

The unofficial maps and the Lafette fix work with 2.4 as well.

If you want to use the GamePlayObjects.con (or GPO for short) files, you need to put them into the maps server.zip.

1. Make a backup of the server.zip!

2. Open the server.zip with WinRAR, then go into 'GameModes\sp3\64' and drop the new GPO file in. Then just close WinRAR, saving and updating the zip when it asks.

3. If you play Coop, you will need to repeat the above steps, but you'll need to put the GPO in 'GameModes\gpm_coop\64'.

Ok, boys, Patch up (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22580991/THE_SP-COOP_UBER_MAPPACK_2_45FINAL.rar), Lock n Load!

THIS PATCH (http://www.gamefront.com/files/22580991/THE_SP-COOP_UBER_MAPPACK_2_45FINAL.rar) has been the sole reason for this thread.

This pack comes with
NEW NAVMESHES FOR:
 1. Sidi Bou Zid (Also included Remick04's custom gameplay for Co-op) *NEW*
2. St. Vith *NEW*
3. Falaise Pocket
4. Anctoville (To account for changes done prior to 2.45)
5. Bardia
6. El_Alamein (Better use of PAK guns defending Kidney ridge, makes use of the entire map)
7. Eppeldorf
8. Hurtgen Forest (Includes Vehicle mesh)
9. Fall of Tobruk (Better use of entire map, including use of Allied tanks)
10. Operation Hyacinth
11. Operation Luttich (Updated to include entire map and make use of current layout)
12. Sidi Rezegh (Better attack-counter-attack, use of all stationary guns, updated to use entire underground base and 2.45 layout)
13. St. Lo Breakthrough (Still WIP commander AI)
14. Operation Cobra (Now, IMO, the 2nd most epic tank batte after Alam Halfa in SP/ Co-op fully taking advantage of Natty's Bocage, German tank reinforcement and multiple crossings at the Windmill)

Improved AI for vehicle and weapon use, including AI for ALL vehicles found in FH2.45
Improved Radio comms for bots only. Don't expect to command them, but they are more vocal
Fix for Flag bug, where both teams have a single flag. Should especially be noticeable on St. Vith & Op. Cobra.

All aspects of the pack should be compatible with FH2.45.

Feedback is most welcome.

Enjoy.

NEW ÜBER-Patch issues:

-SemoventeL40 causes crashes (AI?) i.e. Gazalah, my Beda Fomm GPO.
Can be changed to another vehicle, than Map loads and no CTD.
-Still this Patch breaks a few custom Maps, like latest Hyacinth, Battle of Keren (2.45), Mersa Matruh Night and Siege Of Tobruk, CTDs after initial Map-loading finished.

The Patch itself is über-cool, no words, needed
Hope this helps, Thanks for the Support

First off, before anything else, please upload it to a new Download site.
We can't have FF doing its thing again.

Secondly,
Will talk to Ballard44 about those issues.
The patch is identical in function to that curtently being applied to the beta so this feedback will help us squash all these bugs.

I can't promise a fix before then, but a simple way would be to delete the offending vehicle from the patch files so the default remains

Title: Re: DOWNLOAD LINKS - Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop

In the map folder under mods/fh2/levels,
You should find init.con in the server.zip archive.

Copy it out of the zip and Open it in notepad and look for an area were it described tickets for 16,32 and 64 sized map.
Something like, setDefaultNimberOfTickets.

there should be a value of 9999.

This value represents one faction for that map size.
Change both to make both sides have the same reduced ticket count.

Save and repack this into the server.zip.

But make a backup first.

I apologize to anyone who downloaded the uber-patch from the sticky thinking it'd be user-friendly.

(You'd think I'd know better by now not to break my own rules.)

Ok, the uber-patch shouldn't have been posted in the sticky as it is not user-friendly. I didn't check the files before posting the link and Murphy's Law got me again.

I'm about to go through and finish applying the map fixes, afterwards I'll figure out how big the user-friendly version will be and decide whether or not I can upload it. If it's too big, someone else will have to do it or the link gets removed.

For the time being though I'll leave it there.

Sticky rules:

The files added must be user-friendly, in other words they must require no more than 3 steps to use:

1. Download
2. Extract
3. Play

File editing is verboten.

Remember, this sticky is primarily for people who aren't familiar with editing files.

@gav: That's handy, I didn't realize you could apply it that way. I assumed it was only applied to certain maps due to the lack of a Strategies.ai file in most of the server.zips.

The maps won't play any differently though, the Strategies file I added to the maps (that didn't already have one) was the same as the one the aidefault uses (medium FCAPF).

@djinn: Sorry about that mate, I didn't realize that Mediafire has a weekly DL limit on "special" files... ::)

Quote
Our Free subscription has file limitations.  These certain file may be shared up to 10 times per week.   Theses types are special archives, such as ZIP or RAR files, that are encrypted, password protected, or split into pieces.

Can anyone with the friendly-version upload it as a single file?

If not, I'll split it into two separate archives on the weekend and re-upload it.

This patch is just lovely, but there's one essential issue still to be fixed: Bots can't cross bridges with vehicles. Also, it's really sad that my new favourite map, being the Battle of Keren, is no longer working, just like Siege of Tobruk. Are there any leads regarding the cause of the crash? Besides, Battle of Keren played awfully, but I really appreciate all the efforts that FH2's dedicated team of AI-developers has undertaken to still get it incorporated into FH2.45!

First of all, guys, there's a high chance that in a week or two you'll see new patch which will include updated maps, new fixes for 2.45 and, um, fixes for the current fixes.

This patch is just lovely, but there's one essential issue still to be fixed: Bots can't cross bridges with vehicles.
The best minds have struggled with this problem but, sorry to say, bridges still cause traffic jams.

Also, it's really sad that my new favourite map, being the Battle of Keren, is no longer working, just like Siege of Tobruk.
We will look into it.

But whats up with Bardia. I´m missing the desc-file in the info-folder!?
Yup, Coop is missing in Bardia's desc-file. I attached zip with fixed file to this post, just unpack the archive to ...\mods\fh2\levels\bardia\info folder.

Are there other maps that are running fine, i mean maps that don´t need a fix?
Sorry, can't help here as, tbh, I haven't played the maps from the patch.

Sorry if this isn't the best place to ask, however this thread seems to get the most attention so.... Does anyone know if the FHT Battle of Britain map does not work with 2.45? I notice the level folder doesn't have the archive.md5 or mapdata.py that are in all the other level's folders, however it's the file I dl'd and used with 2.4.

Is there possibly an updated version? Just got a new joystick and I'm itching for some air battles  ;D

Samus, try this topic: http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=17633.0
As I understand, the guys there updated some custom maps for 2.45, but Battle of Britain is not among them.

I have started to modify the damage values of SMG and pistol/revolver calibres in order to make them as effective as they should be. As a reference I used various trustworthy sources, like statistics from law enforcement agencies and the military. As a result, I upped the damage values of every one of the affected calibres by the amount of six (also in order to keep things balanced). The results were positive (.45 ACP now disables with two hits to the upper body), however the Allies seem to be overpowered now, but I can't see why. I attached the tweak file to this post so that you can try it out yourselves. Please let me know what you think about it!

Please be aware that with this file installed, you will not be able to play online. Therefore, I would highly recommend to copy your existing one to a safe directory to prevent incompatibilities with PB.

EDIT:
Errm... Just forget about this one, it's complete BS  :P The damage values are fine as they are now, it was the exaggerated recoil on the Thompsons that led me to thinking that the calibres would require correction. I'll work on that instead.

ok... so just to save myself the migraine, is the new uber patch a cumulative of all the previous levels offered? or are only some maps contained?

As far as I know, the last version contains all the fixes of the previous ones. I am not entirely shure, though.

Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I'm finding some of the information here and elsewhere on the forums a bit confusing. Hypothetical situation: I want to set up a new FH2 co-op server. Obviously my first step should be to install the most recent official server release: http://fhdev.dyndns.org/~spitfire/fh2pub/2.45/fh2-server-2.5.776a.tar. But there have been several semi-official patches/updates/hotfixes for co-op and single player since that release, including the one discussed in this thread. So, for the best co-op experience, exactly what should I install on top of 2.5.776a?

Try this:
http://fhpubforum.warumdarum.de/index.php?topic=18569.0
It includes all the stuff from other patches (well, there is only one other patch, but it is dispersed in several threads here) + some new stuff.

I did see that one, and was starting to look at it, but I wasn't sure, because it talks a lot about single player, and how it's not compatible with multiplayer.  I realize that single player is basically the same as coop, but the main difference is that coop *is* multiplayer. I suspect what was meant was that if you install it on your client, you won't be able to play on servers that *don't* have the patch. Is that about right? And to install it, do I basically just overwrite any files already there on my server?

Yeah, when someone says 'singleplayer' here, it usually means 'all AI game modes' (Coop + Singleplayer). Some people prefer to play Coop even alone just because it allows to tweak bots numbers and skill in-game + there are some performance tricks for Coop. Gameplay-wise there's no difference between Singleplayer and Coop (well, almost). And 'multiplayer' usually means human vs human online servers, that is, without bots.

I suspect what was meant was that if you install it on your client, you won't be able to play on servers that *don't* have the patch. Is that about right?
Yes, almost all online servers will kick you if you try to join them with the patch installed.

And to install it, do I basically just overwrite any files already there on my server?
Yes. Note that the .exe file from that thread can install the patch to any directory. So you can unpack the files to an empty directory on your PC and then copy the content of that directory to your server, overwriting stuff there.

Okay, thanks for that. I'll be installing the B patch on my server. Originally I was a bit concerned about losing my own tweaks (I changed init.con for several maps that were running with 9999:9999 tickets in coop 64p mode), but I see from the changes listed for patch B that it includes a proper fix for this. Again, thanks!

I installed the 'B' hotfix on my server, overwriting the virgin, official FH2.45a files as needed. The server starts just fine, but when I try to join with my client, it loads to 100%, verifies files okay, then about 2 seconds after the JOIN button appears, the client crashes to desktop. It does this every time in exactly the same way. I tried starting a different map on the server but it didn't make any difference. If I stop the server, put the virgin fh2.45a folder back, and restart the server, I can join and play without any problems.

Any ideas? I'm starting to think I really do need the FH2.45b files on my client as well. If that's the case, then I probably won't bother with 'B' since I don't want to force players to install something that will prevent them from joining other servers. Maybe I can use parts of 'B' on the server? Hmmm.

BTW, should I be posting this in the hotfix B thread? I feel like I sort of hijacked this one.

TBH, I haven't tested the 'patched Coop server vs vanilla client' variant, but the crash on join doesn't surprise me. You can try to install the hotfix on your server skipping the following files:
    ..\serverarchives.con
    ..\sp_objects_kits_server.zip
    ..\sp_objects_vehicles_server.zip
    ..\sp_objects_weapons_server.zip
Maybe, then the server will let vanilla clients in, but I'm 50% sure that it won't help. And even if it helps, those files, among other things, fix CTDs caused by vehicles and weapons, so you'll still have to avoid some maps where the offending objects are present.

As a last resort, you can copy only ..\python folder from the patch, all the scripts there are executed server-side. At least it will fix the 9999:9999 tickets bug.

BTW, should I be posting this in the hotfix B thread? I feel like I sort of hijacked this one.
I wouldn't worry much about that, it blends nice into the topic called "Post-release bug fixes for SP/Coop" :)

Okay, I'll try skipping those files. But from what you're saying, it sounds like most, if not all, of the people using hotfix 'B' on their server are assuming that anyone attempting to join their server will have the 'B' hotfix applied to their client as well. Which is another reason for the warning about not being able to join 'multiplayer' (PvP) servers with hotfix 'B' installed on a client. In any case, I'll let you know what I find, and then maybe you can add a warning to the hotfix 'B' post about patching clients to join patched servers. But you may want to do your own testing before you do that. Anyway, thanks!

Running a server patched with the 'B' hotfix and a vanilla FH2.45a client, the client crashes to desktop every time at the end of map load. As suggested, I removed the sp_ files from the server and reverted to the original serverarchives.con file: no change; client still CTDs at end of map load. So I tried with just the python changes from hotfix 'B' on the server, and now the client connects no problem. So, as you said, at least I can stop worrying about tweaking the 9999/9999 ticket numbers for some maps in coop mode. Next, I'll see what happens when I run hotfix 'B' on both server and client. If it works, I'll spend some time checking it out. If I like what I see, I'll make sure players joining my server know that hotfix 'B' is required.

There are at least 2 public Coop servers with patch B installed (about one I'm sure, it's running for 4 months and tested, about another I guessed by B in its name). So the combination of server B and client B works.

Works for my server and client as well. Seems like the AI is a bit more intelligent. Battle of Keren still crashes the server after 5 minutes, just like clockwork, but so far no other obvious issues.

Hi, was having a game of Supercharge and found this (see attachment). That's quite a few soldiers out of action as they can't get out of the building. It's next to the main road as you go through this CP. Not even sure there should be a spawn point in there. If I remember correctly the navmesh can be left alone and the spawn point can be removed or moved somewhere.
