what?... ofcourse ever owner of BF2 must patch to 1.5, there will be no 1.41 servers or players left in the world after next tuesday  ;)
And what about mods?  Surely they will need to put out hotfixes if anything breaks.  What about FH?  If 2.15 doesn't work with 1.5, the public will have to stick with 1.41 until 2.2 comes out.  I for one will be updating to 1.5 at the last possible moment, and then hoping that AIX and EoD will work.  I plan to prune out all my other mods at that point.

That prone fix is more than welcome, this means no more proning, getting instant accuracy and killing everyone with MGs? I would imagine at least, I hope the amount of deviation etc. can be adjusted... please EA :-\

Read between the lines.
If every owner of BF2 must patch to 1.5, because there will be no 1.41 server left, including FH2 server, it meas 2.2 release is imminent !!

we get those pod things out of 2142? They were kind of l33t, traversing a whole map in only 3 seconds - 6 players at a time.  That would solve the point du hoc scramble.  ...Titans, thats what they were called.

Som 2.2 waits for 1.5? Or your not forseeing problems with it?

no we don't anticipate any problems what-so-ever.. on the contrary, we anticipate good things  ;D
Ofcourse.  Better hit detection FTW!!!

Wow this is really nice thing to do by EA. I was certain they would never ever give those booster packs for free. Maybe there is some hope in them afterall. :)

I might actually play a bit of vanilla just to see what these booster maps are like as I've never seen them. And on top of that if the patch really kills off those pronedivers and with improved hit detection vanilla could be nice to play again.

they aren't sending 2142 out free Von.Small

about 2.15, there is no need to make a patch to make 2.15 work with 1.5  ;)

There is a hometown USA one that was quite something [Thunderbolt? From Armoured Assault], the fight takes place along a freeway - the only annoying thing was the warthog, if you saw it coming, and all you got is your legs - may as well just stand there and try and beat one off because the only place you're going is the spawn que.

The others were kind of forgettable imo, I never really like the China vs maps... the assault on the China wall (esq) map was a nice idea but too constrictive, especially for the spray and pray way of BF2 fighting, whoever controlled the gate controlled the bleed, whoever didn't control the gate, may as well start beating one off... blah blah ^

The best EA pumped super sexy $6 expansion had to be Northern Strike, it takes place in 1984 and see's british miners go on strike for better medical care and higher wages, ultimatley the British government controlled by Thatcher (Iron Lady) retaliates by closing down 60% of British coalieries over the following 8 years...
Seriously, Northern Strike was pimp, one side got heavily armoured slow movers full of gattling guns, the other got devastatingly fast vehicles with some rather nuke like weapons.

but hey this is an FH2 forum, what am I doing pimping these parsnips?

I read the news about 1.5 patch coming up a while ago. I only got BF2 so the booster pack will be a great extra but which is more important is the fix. While waiting FH2.2, BF2 1.5 will be a good way to kill time. Besides we won't need a fix patch for FH2 because BF2 1.5 patch coming out first (or so I think).

I really got my hopes up for the hit detection improvement.

Here's a nice list of changes, btw:

Quote
Features:
-Additional support for Windows Vista.
-Added Highway Tampa as a required map.
-Added a new map called Operation Blue Pearl.
-Added Euro Force and Armored Fury as free to play content for all Battlefield 2 players.
-Added Widescreen support
-Allowed BF2.exe to use more than 2Gb RAM
-Added support for the Novint Falcon controller (http://www.novint.com).

Gameplay Tweaks:
-Changes made to both the J10 and F35B to make them more balanced.
-AA targeting tweaked to make it more effective.
-Added checks to prevent "runway grieving".
-Various changes made to prevent cheating.
-Tweaked the hit detection, hits will be more accurate to the model.
-Occasional connection drops after being on a server a couple of minutes - Fixed
-Prevented use of mouse wheel to provide speed boost to vehicles
-Prevented use of mouse wheel to exploit parachutes
-Players can now pass claymores by going prone
-Update the HUD on TV Guided missiles to increase visibility on maps like Dragon Valley
-Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period)

Bug Fixes:
-Fixed the issue where picking up a players kit would cause CTD
-Updated BF2OpenAL.dll from version 1.1.1.0 to version 2.1.8.1
-Updated ch_gas_station collision mesh on Dragon Valley to be consistent with other gas station buildings
-Fixed the issue where MEC artillery piece on Operation Clean Sweep changes to the USMC's control when they capture the Airfield flag
-Updated the Challenger2 HUD to show the correct icon instead of the M1A2 HUD icon
-Changed a PLA FAV to MEC FAV on Road to Jalalabad
-Tweaked the artillery respawn time on Dragon Valley for to 360 seconds as other artillery uses
-Included a delay after weapon switch for the Bizon (PP-19) to 0.666
-Updated the F35B's lock delay to 1 second instead of 1.5 seconds to match other aircraft
-Changed the Humvee camo on Taraba Quarry to be the correct design
-Increased the splash damage of the UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns from 0.25 to 1.5
-Updated the G36E HUD to react the same as other weapons during sprint

but also making booster packs free That means Euro Forces + Armoured Fury is free2play.
Hah, the people who bought these (especially recently) are going to be a tad peeved!
Don't even mention it.. When my BF2 disc broke I bought the complete collection. Assholes giving it away now   :(

Complete Collection is still available at retail in the UK. As is the original copy of BF2 on DVD, and the original game under EA's re-packaged 'Classics' range. Strangely enough, the Complete Collection is cheaper than the original on occasion, but for the most part, it's more expensive. I don't know how EA is going to handle this one. Are they going to pull them off the shelves, regulate the price, or do they even care? Who knows.

I'm a tad peeved that I paid for both expansions back when they came out, and I was forced to install EADM just to get them, which is the worst crime committed in modern history.

There's still a lot they haven't fixed or simply refuse to recognize. The patch finally offers real widescreen support, but the HUD is still distorted. Because there's only three people working on this patch - a mapper, a coder and a community rep - they've recognised this issue but don't want to dedicate the time nor the resource to correct it.

I suspect this will not be the last patch for BF2, as it is intended.
