General Discussion / Re: First Impressions of 2.25

On the subject of the Mg42 animation, you know those helmet cams some extreme sport shows have. Yea that's what it feels like, Motion sick =X. I am surprised at them un-nerfing the Thompson, at least a tiny bit and for that I give them a tip of the hat for trying.

We do appreciate Gunnies feedback, but we would like to clarify some things.

Bombing of Constanta

Bombing of Constanta by Paasky [Planes/Ships]-..... [Note: This is more of a demo map at this stage then meant as a "serious" map]

We wanted to see the balance of the I16 vs the BF109[Both being the early war planes of the respective sides] and we wanted to see how Heavy Bombers would play out for the community and we wanted to see how the ships/subs work when people are given free reign over them. From that we have gathered some really nifty thoughts on how to approve all of the above.

there was needed a bit of final polishing and testing.

That is why we released a beta, the maps existed, worked to a point, and played decently well but, they needed to be tested by a group of people[FH2 community] that no single entity could ever make a complete map of no matter how they try. So when you release a beta you say there, rip this to pieces, try to crash the maps, do what ever weird things to your hearts content with it[as long as it is within the law], and then tell us about it. Gunnie gave us some great feedback during testing, and that will be worth its weight in gold when we re-release some of these maps later in the first half of this year and for that we thank each and everyone of you who tell us what exactly is wrong.

Will there be a server up that will be playing these maps?
AFAIK the BFE-WaW & Wolf servers have signed up.

We won't be hosting "Official" nights though till the second week of January, due to familiar obligations, getting drunk, sobering up, being out of town, etc, etc. There is nothing stopping an individual/group that wants to start a server night and telling me so I can put them in the release post.

Can't play on the 25th

We are assuming everybody is going to be too drunk on the 25th - 1st so our "Mod" nights will be taking place in or about the 2nd week of January.

i posted the announcement on the EI Network. It should be on the front page soon.

Bug Reporting / Re: Crusader and M13/40 armor problems
« on: 12-12-2009, 07:12:14 »
But the Panzer IV its AP regular shot is very weak. The stuart has 51MM of armor max, the KWK 37 penetrates only 35MM of armor at 1000M

In the Desert the Stuart must be a M3 version, not a M5. So you can lower the maximum armor thickness to 44mm (and an important surface featuring only 38mm)  ;)

Taos aren't the right ones to use. A map in Fh2 is roughly 2km^2 and fog distances are roughly 300m, the KwK37 penetrates about 39mm at 500 meters(IRL) [call it 40mm in long range FH engagement ranges(300m) and 41 at close range[100m]].   Not that it makes a difference if the armor on the stuarts/crus3 are higher, its just easier to get a picture of what you are looking at.

Yes, I said that it comes up a bit small, but come on, it's still fun.

Until you get 63 Other players in the air. [Haven't actually had 63 other players to play this, but I am just guessing it will be a giant cluster...]

I don't know but after playing it in the WaW scrims and looking at it before hand I think the Devs should take a hard look at letting the guy into Beta team.  This map feels very close to release worthy.

Seconded, was a pretty fun map to play in.

But, yer... Not sure it can be in the glider though, even Tanks In FHSW often viberate and crash if airlifted. I think it needs to be deployed once the glider lands or airdropped or something

Its theoretically possible. You use the same deal as the Zveno, except in the back you have the same coding as the LVT, you land the glider drop the ramp get in the tank and drive out. Of course again if anyone jumped in the tank and drove while you are flying the chances that you and the tank explode would be a certainty. So no you wouldn't be able to load tanks on gliders, but a good map maker could work around that.

"Idea 3: Vehicles attached to/tow-able by other vehicles"

Theoretically possible, the thing is though you wouldn't be able to reattach it, and you wouldn't be able to attach static objects as far as I know. In the Zveno plane the pilot of the I16 controls deployment by throttling up or down. So yes having a plane tow a glider, or a truck towing Six pounders and pak 40s and that stuff is do-able, but stuff like 88s may require doing.

Just so everyone knows the planes are ours, the HMS Audacity, and the battleships are in the files for FH2 already, check it out.
