Amatuer WW2 footage
« on: 27-01-2010, 19:01:30 »
For all those in the UK (and anyone else if you can work out how to watch it): BBC4 - Shooting the War

Lots of very interesting footage shot by soldiers with cine cameras all of which I'd never seen before. It includes both British and German film and shows places like France, Netherlands, El Alamein, China, India... Definitely worth a watch!

It's the same for the whole world except the UK :(

You can, IIRC, download a simple IP-Hider, then you can see it without any problem.
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

"Shooting The War" ?

I've got a battle cameramen documentary "Shooting War". And yeah, no point linking anything to BBC's site since no one outside UK can view them. :(

I'll see what I can do, just downloading it, 650mb it's quite big but should get it uploaded somewhere by today/tomorrow.

But people in the UK who might be interested can ;)

@ von.small - I had a look at the mp4 and tried moving it from the iPlayer download folder and renaming it and it wouldn't play. getiplayer apparently lets you record/stream iPlayer stuff. I haven't tried it though.

EDIT:
Well it works! I now have the programme as a 224MB .mov. It's only 480x272 pixels though so the quality isn't amazing. I think getiplayer fools the website that you're downloading to an iPhone (hence the quality) to avoid copy protection. Next question is where to upload it...

yeah - you're right, they've changed iPlayer, the assholes, the mp4 has encoding in it that makes it only exclusive to their iPlayer and non-convertable or readable by any other player, in the encoding it also has a self delete mechanism to get rid of the file after 30 days, wtf?!

It so people like me with no TV and who therefore don't have to pay for the TV licence can't record programmes ;)

Anyway, any suggestions as to where to upload the unprotected copy I made of the programme?
