Gamers are war criminals...
« on: 24-11-2009, 08:11:09 »
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8373794.stm

"Human rights groups played various games to see if any broke humanitarian laws that govern what is a war crime.

The study condemned the games for violating laws by letting players kill civilians, torture captives and wantonly destroy homes and buildings."

The games "tested":
24, The Game
Army of Two
Battlefield Bad Company
Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty 5
Close Combat: First to Fight
Conflict Desert Storm
Far Cry 2
World in Conflict
Frontlines: Fuel of War
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Hour of Victory
Medal of Honour Airborne
Metal Gear Solid
Soldier of Fortune
Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 Vegas
Tom Clancy Splinter Cell Double Agent
True Crime Streets of LA

See you all in The Hague!

Hmmm only played 3 games in that list.
Damn I knew I should have refrained from using the tactical nukes in World in Conflict. ^^

Now you mention it.. I killed so many innocent! Oh my God.. Poor sad AI, nuked to heaven motherboard.

Haven't played that many games on that list either. Played like 5 on the list and highly doubt they are wrong games.

They fail to mention Command & Conquer games. Especially in Generals, which is the closest to real world title of the series. The Chinese destroy three gorges dam to flood the GLA, i'm sure you'll kill dozen millions of people along the Yangtze river. Not to mention GLA toxin weapons and US carpet bombing and napalm bombs.

Anyway, speaking about war... ahem

"Human rights, f**kk-a-you human rights!!" Liberal pussies, shouldn't they be in africa solving real racial/gang war, or on the Eastern block getting jiggy with the kidnap of minors and wholesale sex industry.

It's a f**king infringement of my human rights to be told that the games I play are an infringement of human rights.

Must be Americans  ;D

But yeah, we here in third world countries know more about real miseries than those who make or test the game.

I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

But that controversial level has gained more notoriety before this. See the BBC article.

you honestly believe these human rights workers played through all those games?  ;D ;D

btw in BF:Heroes you can set people on fire and throw them down cliffs, you can also poison the enemy and use anti-personell mines. you can also throw exploding kegs on them.. this must be war-crimes as well, right?

If they did this study, they should once and for all define what is real and what is not. heroes is not, but metal gear solid is? I wanna see a scale of textures, rating from cartooney to realistic, and I want a method to define the exact point on the scale where it switches from just being a "game" to become "realism"... is it normalMaps? is it high-res? what.. tell me, do a real study with some meaning  lol!  ;D

Games become realistic only when they leave the screen, you get given a real gun with real bullets, and the enemy are real people.

you should remember Tom and Jerry was banned in some parts...  ::)

Humans can be real hypochrites some times... Its the reason I have a problem with religion - You either consider all to be sin, or none to be sin, but what's with the... ooh, this is, but thats ok shtick?

By the way GTA iws definitely for war criminals and should be banned...  *Holds up pitchfork and torch, standing over a bag of feathers and a pot of hot tar* LOL!!!

Darkwing Duck was cancelled because it was too violent for a Disney production.  ;)

Nope, probably just watched a few clips of them on Youtube. It's obviously a slow news day...

I love it when "morally-superior" morons try to ruin everyone elses fun. They just prove to everyone how clueless they really are.

Anyone who can't differentiate between a computer game and reality has SERIOUS issues.
