I gave my oath of allegiance today, and with that received my first promotion in FDF. I'm no longer a recruit, I'm a jaeger (Jäger, private) now.
I'd rather play Kimble with my ass!

Artilleryman is the only proper rank there is!

Pfft. I saw a platoon of artillery recruits at firing range. They came there by bus. We used skis to make the 5 kilometer journey.

Tss, lazy artillery guys standing around and shooting big cannons on targets that are faar away.  :P

OT: Yesterday I did "proper" Military Police work, instead of my routine staff job. Together with a MSgt, a Sergeant, two Corporals and another LCpl I provided security during an oath of allegiance ceremony of a Mountaineer Signals Company infront of the beautiful Alps. Extremely nice scenery, good weather and a quiet ceremony.
This is really special for me, since usually only Sergeants or Sergeant candidates provide sceurity, while conscripts (or those who volunteerly extended their conscription, like me) mostly do staff jobs. Fortunately my superiors have enough trust in me, so I´ll attend three other ceremonies next week and some others until I´m done with the army.
Also I´m happy because I have a day off today and came home 5 hours earlier than usual!

Oh and in basic training we had to walk everywhere, too. No busses for us :/

And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

That's because the artillery don't waste their time doing something a machine can do better ;D

Even less when you're part of the elite driver forces.

On the way to work...

http://www.rtvutrecht.nl/nieuws/326720

Doesn't look that bad, but check the third pic, that's the newspaper one. I was two benches behind the driver, only six people in the bus + driver. One other bumped her head and the driver had some bruised knees and back-ache. Lucky. We got overtaken by a car with big headlights just before the crash, I don't think the driver saw the truck because of that. Lousy parking spot anyway.

Bam, glass falls. Drop paper, take bag. Happy to be alive. Door is open, people getting out. Get driver out, get out.

Have a smoke. Wtf.

Belgian busdrivers are awesome, we took over 3 cars at once last year while going way to fast on a straight piece.
