I think I know someone who's best suited for the job.

P.S. The binocular vision of T-Rex might have been a leftover from his previous and smaller versions (like Allosaurus) and size is easier to change than eye orientation.

Isn't T-Rex's sight based on movement
Jurassic Park, known for its scientific accuracy. What next, velociraptors that are two to three times the size of the real thing? Can't really imagine why they came up with that funny idea, except that you could build a cool set-piece scene around it (although, at the distance depicted in the scene, the T-Rex with its Xbawks HUEG olfactory organs could certainly have used its smell to locate the humans even if it had been totally blind).

Unlike most lizards or even other predatory dinosaurs, T-Rex has forward-facing eye sockets and the snout narrows enough so that it's not in the way. It would have had binocular vision and would certainly have seen objects three-dimensionally even if they were not moving. Which would also suggest that it did hunt actively, at least to some degree. Carrion-eating and/or chasing smaller predators away from the carcass do not require a particularly good stereoscopic vision, so there would not have been selective pressure to evolve such.

On the other hand, we need to be able to test that to verify the hypothesis. Let's clone one to find out! FOR SCIENCE!

actually those were allosaurios, but they trough velociraptor sounds cooler

Deinonychus actually, because allosaurus is almost T-Rex size.

AFAIK T-Rex not seeing still objects does not exist outside Jurassic Park (just like many other "scientific facts" in the film). In fact, the only mentions I can find about this in scientific articles is to bust the JP myth. The book mumbled something about the mixing of frog DNA being the reason for this (which makes no sense either because even frogs can see inanimate objects and have depth of focus), the film simply states it as a "natural" characteristic of a T-Rex. Of course, even human eye detects movement easier than something not moving, but that hardly matters when something is almost in your face.

I always thought the line in the film said T-Rex were so fugly natural selection favored mates who couldnt see eachother very well. This was compounded by their short arms which restricted their ability to perform corrective eye surgery, and their tendency to eat the other species meant none would help them.

Maybe I saw the Turkish version or something. ???

The raptors in Jurassic Park are oversized due to the fact that the Deinonychus was considered as a member of the velociraptor family at the time Michael Crichton wrote his novel. He also corrected his statement about the t-rex vision baised on movement in his second novel where dr. Baselton gets eaten by a rex, thinking he has invisible by standing still.

Kelmola, I was referring to T-rex being more a vulture than a predator. The 'move and he'll see you' is bullpie.

I think the point was that they are using religion to take away freedom of others in America. And other places.

It does say "Freedom Explained" on top.. and any country with Sharia law doesn't fit in that category.
