"Compatible minibricks". Actually, the Chinese have much more interesting kits available, if memory serves right, they even got some WW2 stuff. "Compatible with other construction bricks", of course. LEGO can scream all they want as long as the competitors are not marketed as such, a patent is only valid for 20 years and design protection 25 years and they can hardly argue that every single block is a piece of art that would be covered by copyright. Also, 25 years ago is about the time LEGO started going too fancy with all those blocks that were suitable for just that particular kit alone (especially Space), so I would be happy seeing copies that only use blocks made 25+ years ago (or self designed blocks).

You're throwing together quite a bit of different ideas here Kelmola.
I'm no fan of special blocks either, thus I believed that pic would show a lego copy. (for oldtimers it ain't LEGO with those bodies!).

Coming back to Chinese Copies. No I wouldn't buy that crap, even if they have WW2 stuff:

That's just insecure Americans.

The lexicon "fat" is there for a purpose. I don't look fat myself, but I am about 9 kg overweight. I consider myself fat and need to reduce my unhealthy consumption. Helping myself, the environment, and people who glanced at me. I dress and try to look proper so people have less eyesore.

Unlike those pop-culture-United States where you can shit anyway you like and force other people to consider you normal. But hey! I know being Asian and showing up at local gun nuts convention is not normal, but those laid-back hillbillies and racist rednecks will eventually accept your enthusiasm that they also shared about guns.

Hahahahaha... honestly, my "25 years ago" LEGO collection are also crap by today's LEGO standard. All car models can only accommodate 1 person.

But crap should be more fitting into something like this:

http://reasonablyblogged.blogspot.com/2009/01/friday-fail-star-wars.html

Somewhere in China, they wasted our plastic pellet (and therefore oil) resources to spit out craps like this every day and some douchebags in United States imported it, keeping the economic law in motion, giving the plastic pellet waster a reason to exist.

Anyway a little bit about Indonesia

Well surely the fun you had with it, will outweight the value loss of opening it?

Just some days ago I walked past lego shelf in market and oh boy there was good looking chinook there  :D.

Of course when you're an adult it's ok, but to push it on kids? As if Barbie wasn't enough, now LEGO too?
I mean why are they all "perfect"? Do all kids need to be perfect? What kind of a message we are sending?

...And then we find it strange when they say eating disorders are on the rise...Teen suicides are on the rise... Underage pregnancies are on the rise...

Just stop and think about it for a bit...
This sentence is intentionally left unfinished...

Now we are talking different things.

In kids' matter, I agree. They even show kids beauty pageant on Discovery Home and Health. I saw toddlers being bitches on interviews like their 20 year older supermodel counterpart, and it is chilling. Something is totally wrong there. They train them to pose on catwalks. And I hope they don't put stuffs on those kids' meal.

Well, eating disorders... that goes for overeating too right?

My BS detector rings like: 1st world problem!

It is not oversimplifying the problem, but people are just making things too complicated to make themselves look serious. Really, why no one ever looked at their parents? Who brought this issue? In the past, in some 3rd world country shithole (or maybe India, Myanmar, Nigeria, and others) like here, people would normally have 6-12 kids. My father has 11 siblings, they all grew normally (none being criminal, 7 become businessmen, 1 of their company went IPO years ago, 3 become paid professionals, 1 being simply a housewive), and I met that grumpy grandma before she passed away. Today, I came to think that she was quite a badass back then. But people quickly decides that "her method was obsolete."

Something bad like "eating disorder, teen suicide, etc" is on the rise (trending), yet people dissed hipsters or people who tried to be different.

To stay on topic:

This whole child upbringing deserves its own thread.

On a related note, my toys consisted of guns, plastic soldiers and tanks, legos (from which I built tanks and helicopters etc.), my brother's Amstrad, and our PC which we got '95. The chainsaw was my favorite toy in Doom. :P

This was the shit, though:

Every time some innocent youth complains about "load times" of modern games, I start to ramble about how it took half an hour to load* Red Storm Rising on C64's tape deck. If the headers were in proper alignment, that is, otherwise you had to reload (Load-It tape deck sort of ruined all the fun by showing the signal level with LEDs and adding an adjustment knob). "The tape drive was our Vietnam."

*) From C64's start-up screen until you got into the simulation proper - menus, cutscenes, briefings, and map mode did appear before that.

*picschur*

These are not the bricks you are looking for ..

Yeh, only Lego is the real deal .. I myself was completely addicted .. I could cover my entire rooms floor more than ankle deep in bricks. The boxes in which we still have them are like 60kg ..

Hell, I even made a 3-round, gravity-fed bolt-action rifle for some old cartridges my grandmother had lying around. Still have a "rifle" lying around with an cartridge ejection system, think I might convert it to a bolt action once I've figured out how.
