Last week or so I went to France coming from Baden, Germany and on my way to Wissembourg I suddenly saw an M4A1, a couple of trenches and some bunkers. Must have been a memorial, but at first I was just like OMG a Sherman!!
South of Wissembourg there´s actually a huge underground fortress, made by the French before the 2nd WW. It´s called "Fort Schoenenbourg" and was part of the Maginot Line. It´s open to visitors, I´ve been there last year. It´s really impressive and really, really interesting. They show you the living quarters, the gun cuppolas etc. and it´s definately worth a visit. I´ve made a ton of photos and if you´ll ever get there again, make sure to visit it.
OT:
I got my final payment today and wow, someting definately moved in my pants, when I saw how much it was. Also I spent the day yesterday outside at our local open air swimming pool, ordered some books (one about the Caucasus and it´s conflicts and "Brave New World" by A. Huxley) and sent my application papers to the university.
