scouts

not many people use this class, in some games it's impossible to get an arty spot, so I wish there was something added to this class to make it more appealing. Would it for example be possible to give scouts ability to request commander arty (not many squadleaders use that ability either)? How about an extra s-mine, engineers get three anti-tank mines and those are heavier? also how about flags warning for smines too?

What?? I often scout and artillery spotting is the best way to get high scores as infantry.

Give the British scout a hat that isn't stupid, and I'll consider playing it.  I do sometimes play the German scout because he gets the nice field cap.

For the most part, I don't think that people don't use the kit, they just don't use it well. I personally spot for arty, but I know other don't. This more of a problem with the community, but maybe the devs would consider some of your ideas.

I don't like being a scout, the kit layout is boring.

Nah, that weapon shouldn't be overused.

edit: However, one thing I never liked was the German kit layout on Lüttich and Cobra, with the G43 as the main infantry rifle (now that's overused). I would love to see the Rifleman class getting the usual K98k setup here, with the G43 being moved to scout and more limited. Of course there would be the possibility of people hogging the scout kit without spotting, but it would be a lot nicer than the current setup. It would even make sense historically, considering the semi automatic rifles were often assigned to the "pointman" or scout of a squad.

Yeah, most common weapon in US Army was a Garand and it should stay like that in this game as well (that's actually one of the many reasons I like this game - back in the days I was noobing in CoD I hated the fact that everyone always picked a BAR and pwned everything)

Intresting idea putting the G43 with the scout.  On the one hand I agree because it means the rifleman is back to having riflenades and being normal, but on the other hand, I don't like the thought that all the binoculars would be in limited kits.

One could add extra pickup scout kits to forward flags, with just the K98k. Only spotters would pick them up, because if you want a k98k you could easily spawn with one.

Unless it's urban combat and grenades are desperately needed, I always choose the scout kit before the rifleman kit. Binocs = win.

I hardly ever choose recon
the kit isn't useful enough
a couple seconds of showing up a tank or calling in arty that so often isn't used
I would rather have all those grenades and more ammo

It's pretty easy to get the award/title for best Scout (at the end of a round/map) - If you spot a lot.  Typically, not many people are spotting, so I often find I get the Scout aknowledgment - even when I half-ass the job of spotting.

IMO opinion, typically spotting is duty oriented.  Either you are helping the team arty, or helping warn your team about incoming vehicles or pesky 'well-hidden' enemy infantry.  Otherwise it's an inferior tool set; when compared to the assault class.

As an officer, I always go Scout/Recon/Beobachter/insert Italian word. It gives me a rifle, binocs and smoke grenades, all I need to guide troops in battle, atleast on wide maps, when going into villages I always take the standard NCO kit.

For me, taking a kit depends on the map, what I feel like and how I play that day. Fall of Tobruk? Spawn with a SMG or AT kit or pick up a sniper rifle. Lebisey? Just AT.

Other people seem to stick with 1 kit always, atleast thats the impression I get.
