I cant hit shit with the Carcano'. It seems so easy, just point it like the K98 with the sight set on someone's torso and pull the rigger. But I always seems to miss with that sucker.

A bit topic related, do you really have to aim high with the sniper rifle on long distances. After playing this mod from the beginning this is still the only weapon that baffles me on occasion.

I agree with the sniper thing, I cant ever hit anything when I get my hands on one of those

The bullet drop in sniper rifles for some reason seems to be even more than the magnification would suggest. So if you would compensate with ~5 pixels with an unscoped rifle, with a 10x scope you would not compensate ~50 but 100+ pixels ???

Either that, or I already compensate more pixels than I think when firing an unscoped rifle and then simply fail to compensate enough with a scoped one. :-\

I have difficulty hitting things with any kind of firearms in the game also, people are just ridiculously accurate with their shots. I tends to spam shots at a target and pray if one bullet would hit, usually that worked if the enemy can't see me. The rifle is OK as I could still perform as an experienced player, the pistol is more of a headache to me I can't hit anything except when the target's head appear to be bigger than my pistol ironsight.

Oh well, I think with a high quality/high resolution graphics I see my target much much better than with crappy graphics.

It sounds like the pistols are working correctly then :) (only in -very- close quarters)

Garand is my favourite rifle because it's semi-auto

I often find it hard to hit someone with an exposed head (and only his head) when shooting with any form of weapon - I much prefer a torso shot as I know that above the sight and below the sight is all going to be a hit (or just rifle nade and hope!)

I am slowly getting better at it (most of my rifle kills have been with an M1 on Ramelle and PHL - the other majority would have been k98).  K98 being the rifle with the best sights.  I would love to improve my rifle accuracy and force better shooting habbits on myself as I am sitting on around ~25% accuracy

According to awards, your rifle accuracy seems to be 30% and that is extremely good imo.

I still want improvement though! Most of the shots have been over like 0-20m, I'd love to get better at long range

Shooting a mooving target at a great range is not the easiest thing to do, particulary if the guy is doing slalom and if you are stuck with a rifle that you don't like(fkn' Garand). You really need to put your sight a little more on left or on right and try to hit the body, the head is nearly impossible. You can also wait until he stops moves, but most of the time he will aim at you so you really need to shoot fast, especially if it's a DFL's or any great player

I think that the best rifle for practicing is the Lee Endfield No.4, with the "3 vertical bars" iron sight, this is the best rifle for shooting moving targets. The G43 have the same kind of sight, but with the Endfield is the rifle that I exceel the most and have the most intuitive sight IMO. With K98 I found it's easier to kill really far targets(desert), but harder while your target is on the move. You really need to find what is the best rifle for you then practice a lot with. Some rifles will be good for you, some will need more practice.

Now with 2.4, theres too much US maps in servers, so I'm stuck with the Garand that I hate so much and I still don't understand how to use it. I play almost only on the US side only to practice with the Garand, but God I hate that piece of sh*t. If I kill someone with(I really say if) I sprint to the dead corpse to get his K98, then if I'm not killed, K98 rampage starts. Last Monday on Eppeldorf I had 10kills in the round for 16 death, then at the last minute I got a K98 and got 7kills in 8 shots :P

Im getting trouble firing at long ranges, 400 meters or so. I keep firing the rifle slightly raised, and I cant hit anything, same with they are in movement.

Dont raise your rifle too high, just a little over the head you should be okay, you don't need to aim soo high over your target(only with a Sniper scope you need to aim quite high), and simply try to hit him, especially if he's running.

Snipers have same bullet drop as normal rifles, but with scope it looks like there was bigger drop.

But the fact that it looks quite higher than normal rifles make that I perform a lot better with a unscoped rifle for extreme long range shots.

Yep, that is indeed true. Aiming several cm (on my screen) higher that where target appears, doesn't make things easy at all. Wish we had adjustable sights....
