Villers Bocage lighting?
« on: 14-03-2010, 02:03:28 »
Was I dreaming or did I hear a while ago that Villers Bocage will look different in the new patch?

Hopefully it will. Look like an emo map. Makes me depressed with that light lol. Same goes with Anctoville. Sunset or sunny days ftw.

Lighting on that map is screwed up to be honest - I don't remember a day in June when it was night by 7/8am. I mean, even now the sun is already risen by that time which means that it actually must come out even sooner in June because of the Earth's rotating around the Sun. :P

And ironically, I can see better on dark maps (as in the real night) which kinda pisses me off :D

I actually like the map's atmosphere :)

Which its very weird as the initial battle between Wittmann Tiger Company vs the 22nd and 1st armored brigade was in the morning, 9 am.

Indeed you are correct Yustax the battle started around 9:00am and the sky was sunny and bright, but the battle lasted the entire day. In the early afternoon, however, it began to rain which is why I chose an ominous sky to reflect the battle had been raging for some time along with the amount of destruction to both Tilly and Villers.

Guderian expressed it nicely, I would have put it this way: 2.25 light was too dark, now it's brighter and better  8)

The new light settings, ground textures (Natty) plus all the work I did (finished today) will be well worth the wait :D

Expect the 2.26 patch to be coming very soon so your painful wait is almost over.

@ Hankypanky
The new dirt texture doesn't increase the demand on hardware at all.

Are the new ground textures more demanding on hardware?

Yes, the map has been updated also with other things.
