Do you think anyone ever actually hit a plane with one of these things?

Do you think anyone ever actually hit a plane with one of these things?
Why would they have even tried? That would be much more useful against soft-skinned or lightly armoured vehicles, or as an anti-infantry weapon against fighting positions or suspected sniper positions, than it would ever have been in its intended use.

Yes. We tested it ingame under ideal conditions. Some observations:

1. The low speed of the rocket makes it very hard to hit planes that are not flying directly towards you and very low.

2. The rockets do not do a lot of damage by themselves and the spread means that hitting planes with a lot of rockets at the same time is a game of chance. Generally speaking, you need 2-3 good hits (meaning a salvo right to the face) to reliable disable a plane.

3. The smoke trails of the rockets give away your position immediately.

4. It takes longer to reload than for example a Panzerschreck.

So yeah, it is useless against planes, but a fun meme kind of weapon nonetheless. You can also rape apcs with it and massed infantry, although not if they are in the open and you are on the same level, chances are the rockets will miss. They have very little splash damage.

Merry Christmas, all.

This will certainly a very interesting weapon to use. Has there ever been a game, where this was included?

Not visible in these images; we've also done some maintenance work on hundreds of statics, to clean up big and small lighting glitches and texturing errors. It makes FH2 overall look neater, especially affecting the older North Africa levels. Gavrant has also done an overhaul of the way we re-light levels, for nicer lightmaps and also reduces memory requirements. I've also done another pass to tweak collision meshes, to reduce chances of players getting stuck on statics, and slightly improved performance.

Of course I have that option. As long as people keep whining that the mod is dead and/or dying, the option remains.

And since big fans deserve to have their expectations met, the next update will be in Dec 2018  :-*

Have some nice days everyone and if you are tired of all the family stuff, get online and kill some of your fellow FH2 fans!

Nice job! So it fires 5 of them and then 0.1sec 4 more? How many reloads you have?

Ah Lenino is great looking!

Remdul the man!  ;) Did you try to clean Sidi Rezeh airfield building collision mesh?

Uuuu, I like that SdKfz 251/10 Ausf. C.
Maybe there is a possibility to see a SdKfz 139 "Marder III" in some Ostfront map? It's refreshing to see these older vehicles being used/recycled in mid-late battles: a Lend-lease Valentine would be also great, a tank that was much valued by the Red Army.

Just if I could "wish" for a brand new vehicle, it definitely would be a Hornisse + Hummel (+ Munitionsträger), also considering that they share the same platform. Hornisse's gun would be equal to the Ferdinand's, incl. the gunsight and Hummel's equal to Wespe's, just with the added punch. Well, that would be the dream anyway.

Thank you to the FH team, worldwide.

Took me ages to remember where I'd seen this before when I found it in Sniper Elite 4 - Deathstorm Part 2: Infiltration ...

Will this be included as a German AT kit, or will it be a pickup kit due to it's rarity?
Title: Re: Rudolph Beware! - A Forgotten Hope 2 Update
Post by: Matthew_Baker on 25-01-2018, 18:01:59
pickup, barely any were made and only a few photos exist that show them discarded in fighting around Berlin.

Makes sense. I'm curious, are any working versions of these still in existence?

Definitely not, as it is not even an AT weapon.

Yeah, most likely so since it wasn't used until near the end of the war.

I'm not sure, since it was a rare weapon probably nowhere else.

It was only used right at the end of the war. The only completely documented use is by a testing unit in Saarbrücken, but there is this photo:

There is at least one discarded Luftfaust in the rubble there, in Berlin, so they were used in that area.

I like how they didn't model the rockets as properly loaded.
