Thanks - you advice worked for me. The BF2 compat tick, FH2 compat with XP and also set to Administrator and then start on Map 2. I tried so many things before that... aaarrggg.  :)

If your game crashes (BSOD, desktop crash) many time during playing read this post. Maybe it will help you too.

The straight BF2 plays great for me. But since i installed Project Reality, FH2 is crashing all the time. I have to make it clear that BF2 is still working fine. I have a image file of my entire system which is 3 months old and the crash to desktop was infrequent then. I am about to try this out to see if it works. There does not seem to be an authoritative fix for this, only a lot of tinkering.

My FH2 started normally all the time but now I can't play cause it gets me black screen and nothing more, not even CTD, what could cause it ? Deleting shader client doesn't do the trick (or I make some mistake, I didn't do it in a while)...changing compatibility mode or disabling desktop compositions also doesn't work. I'am using Win 7 Ultimate. Regards, Dolan.

hey there and sorry if the thread is outdatet or something, but I could need help because I have a similiar problem:

after starting the fh2 launcher, nothing shows up except my desktop. nothing changed in the system, so I cannot explain it.

infos:

- admin properties
- compatibility win7/winXPs3 (doesn't matters)
- win7 pro n
- too much ram
- overkill cpu
- ssd

this doesn't matter at all I think but this one does:

the nvidia quadro fx1800, which I'am using right now? unfortunately my geforce gtx is in rma, so I have to use the quadro which is my only gpu since my cpu has nothing like build in.

I deletet the chache and profiles from fh2/files directory, but it doesn't helps.

in the ts3, noone knows this problem.

could you please help me?

hmmm.
Is system overclocked ?
Enough free hdd space ?
Can you play other games ?
Reinstall of direct x ?

Have you tried Display Driver Uninstaller and then install quadro fx1800 driver ?

my only guess is the direct x  install is messed up somehow.

i had an issue like this when i used the battle log  type bf2 installation.
system specs similar to yours

since my cpu is running stock clocks (adaptive voltage 1V but that shouldn't matter at all), ssd space is still over 100GB free and other games can run (can means only low settings) it shouldn't (and probably doesn't) belongs to hardware errors.

thanks to your replies Alubat and Forgottenkevinhope I will try the directX issue tomorrow. now I don't want to spend time at this ...

€dit: dirext9.0 runtime fixed it immediately, thx. uninstalling gpu drivers btw is no necessary afaik since the right one is chosen by the gpu itself usually

Do you have the latest bf2 version?

yes i check it

1)fh2 launcher opened in win7 compatibility mode
2)In launcher options,
   display mode: 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz
   aspect ratio:    4:3
   overall quality: high
   max frame rate to: 100
   windowed mode: on
3)i get an error after the bf2 window shows up

Error!

DirectX version 9.0c or higher is required to run BF2. Please install DX9c and try again.
